@rund_europa I have had a similar sounding SMS problems on a couple occasions after importing my message history when changing phones (copying history.sqlite, and attachments, and pasting into same folder on new phone.)
History sometimes would load, sometimes wouldn't. Messages sometimes refused to send. Seemed to depend how I'd entered a message window - by clicking from Notifications, clicking on a message in the Messages main window, or starting new message and entering recipient.
Sometimes it would enter a message window to a contact where the telephone icon was not at top right, and usually that wouldn't load history.

It seemed to fix itself over time. But would persist with certain contacts.

Anyway, hopefully it just keeps working for you. I just mention in case it's related. Maybe a bug that predates Noble more to do with the system picking up SMS history?

UT 24.04 issue, but an uWolf issue. The author of uWolk is already looking into it.

@peat_psuwit maybe it should be mentioned somewhere, that there is a backup-job running, the first time, when "migrating" into 24.04.

                1. It's a nice feature 🙂
                2. It may slow down the UI on older devices (e.g. FP3, not sure how it feels on more performant devices) while running.
                3. When switching between 20.04 and 24.04 back and forth (for testing), you may run into storage-issues, because every first time 24.04 is booted, it creates a new backup.

                Devices: BQ e4.5, Fairphone 2, Fairphone 3, Lenovo X605F, Pinephone, Moto Z2 Force, OnePlus5T

I installed 24.04 on a Volla Phone 22 which had a clean install of 20.04. The installation of 24.04 went smoothly.

I tried to install Waydroid with Gapps, and you get into the Waydroid session, it starts complaining that it is not certified for Google services. This hasn't happened to me with any of the Waydroid with Gaps installations I tried in 20.04. It looks like a Waydroid issue though, not sure if it is related to the fact that Waydorid is now running in 24.04.

Should Wayland apps be working? They're not on my OnePlus5t.

It works fine on my xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro.
Both from the backup from Focal and with new clean install.

Switched to 24.04 the day it was released.
FP4 here with UT installed on it within 30minutes after unboxing the phone.
I's actually really nice and things started working better from 20.04.
Some still don't, like the notes app but heh... there is nano and vi at hand.

There are two things that I'd like to debug and I'd apreciate guidance as I'm a long time *nix enthusiast but this halium and lomiri stuff is very new to me.

WiFi hotspot: cannot connect anymore. Looks like UT does not run hostapd and I don't know where to look for logs and strace the process.
So.. where logs? 🙂 nm by any chance?

And a second nag, the backlight is dimmed to zero at random times. Fades back to previous value by tapping the touchscreen. /sys/class/backlight/brightness is 0 when it happens.
What process manages the backlight? And is there any other means of interfacing the backlight control other than sysfs interface?

And, maybe a bit off topic, I'm searching like a blind dog in the lomiri-camera-app code for the camera switching parts and I just can't see where is that function. You know... rear/front switch. A file name and a line number would be awesome.

Yeah, hotspot doesn't work, but for me the most important thing is to have 5G data finally working, without it I can't make it my daily phone

Quite a few apps do not work under 24.04 (r542).
I understand that we should be a bit patient as it is still in β state.
So I am not sure whether to open an issue and where.

The advice for individual apps is to file and issue in their individual issue trackers , here should be a link to that in the Open Store entry for that app.

                                Hey everyone,
FP5 here, been on 24.04.x for a couple of weeks here and its been fairly smooth.

What can I do to help with MMS? I am not a coder, but I do have a fair amount of experience troubleshooting PC hardware and software professionally.

MMS is one of those essential things that will make using this as my daily a whole lot more comfortable.

Thanks for all your hard work!

Hotspot is managed by NetworkManager and lomiri-indicator-network. Both components log to Systemd's Journal; try sudo journalctl --boot --identifier=lomiri-indicator-network-service.

Backlight is managed by repowerd, which exposes a DBus API and is also in charge of auto brightness and idle dim/screen off.

App compatibilities have to be evaluated on case-by-case basis. Sometimes this is caused by an unintentional breakage on our part, but other times this is caused by applications using "unstable APIs". Unfortunately, app developers will have to get involve, as we simply don't have time to check every applications in the wild.

Sometimes simply rebuilding the application against 24.04-1.x would make app works again. However, I and Brian Douglas from OpenStore are still figuring out how best to publish applications with unstable API usage for 2 Ubuntu Touch releases simultaneously.

I can find the following error:

I had the following behaviour on multi-party call with volla 22 on 24.04.-1.0 Beta 1.
I set up a call using the dailer. Then to create a multi-party call I pressed the + sign during the ongoing call. I setup a second call using the phonebook. Finally I merged both calls.
Then the party I called second hang-up from their side.
                                            Result:
The second call had been terminated and the phone call with the first party stayed active. Which is correct behaviour.
However the phones display reported that it is still connected to the secondly called phone (which had been already been disconnected) and not to the party called in the first place (which is the still connected party).
                                            Expected behaviour:
The phones display reports that it is still connected to the phone called in the first place (which is the still connected party) and not to the phone I called in the at the second place (which is the party no longer connected).

Note: Just tested. This error has been already in focal 20.04-OTA-9.

                                            Created separate Gitlab issue

Nice, I wasn't sure if this thread is even watched. The lack of 5G data on FP 4 really makes it unusable for me. I'm a developer though each project takes a lot of time to get familiar with so I didn't even bother. Though if you kindgly can point me to the relevant github PR which fixed that for FP5 to port into FP4 Halium tree I could try to look at it
