        Hi.

I still have my now aged Fairphone 3 and for a while, UT cannot be upgraded to the next version. I'm considering buying a FF5 and know it's been out for a little over 2 years, so I'm wondering how long will I be able to use UT on it?

        Thanks.

How can you trust that an app really won't send some company your location data, when you tell it not to? The only way you can trust a program not to do something it isn't supposed to do is if it is free software. ~ RMS

Fairphone will support FP5 until 2031, and they will bring 2 or 3 major android updates to it since then (which means updated linux kernel).

So dont worry about its support under Ubuntu Touch...

Beside i dont understand why you tell FP3 can't be updated.

FP3 got first stable 24.04 update like FP4 and FP5.

@Keneda Thanks for the info. I was unaware that 24.04 could be used on the FP3. It seems the older versions of UT were no longer upgradable on the FP3.

@Opolork I think the main concern about UT support is the last kernel version that the device has. For example, the older devices like Nexus 5 and bq E5 are not supported anymore because Ubuntu 20.04 has features or functionalities that need things from a newer kernel version that those devices don't have. Technically it is still possible to do but it'll take effort from someone and that someone doesn't exists 😅

There could be other things that might matter in terms of support so it basically depends on how much effort is needed to stay supported and if there's someone willing to do the work 😄
