How can you trust that an app really won't send some company your location data, when you tell it not to? The only way you can trust a program not to do something it isn't supposed to do is if it is free software. ~ RMS

        Hi!

        I'm Alex. ๐Ÿ‘‹

Android dev by trade. I've played around with ubuntu touch before but never for long. I'm looking into it again recently because I have always found it interesting. Been learning about QML which has been new to me as I have never used it before. Coming from an Android background I have never had to develop C/C++ in anger, so being able to combine it with python made things easier. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'll have a look around and see if I can find some way to be useful ๐Ÿค“

        Regards
        Alex

                Hello Community !

My Name is Achim Berg, iยดm 33 years old and living in Germany.
I recently fell over UT and now i think i want to be a part of it.

My first(and last) Ubuntu Phone was the BQ Aquaris 4.5. I bought it to see what can be possible and it was interesting seeing something different than Android and Apple.

Iยดm changing my lifestyle and i want to learn new things. One of my personal Golas this year is a Programming Language.
I thought about Python, can somebody tell me if i can use Python as a Programming language on the UT device?
For Apps or something like that?

I have read something about Unity8, is that the normal Language for UT?
Sorry for that Question, i just want to bring me in somehow, maybe i can help with German Translation?

I have a few Experiences in Java programming, cause of my Education as IT Specialist Systemintegration.

I hope for your Support and i wish all of you a happy weekend and good health !

                See you all ! ๐Ÿ™‚

Probably my BQ Aquaris 4.5 Ubuntu is a bit weak for further Upgrades, is the OTA-10 the newest Version of UT?
Anyone got a advice, which Phone on the Devices list is a good one where i can tinker a bit?

                Fairphone 3

                  Hi all!

My name is Anthony, I'm 34 (been told I look 24 recently) and am currently living in Kentucky, USA. I work as an IT Tech at a hospital.

Ubuntu Touch has been on my radar for awhile, I was running a OnePlus with UBports last year. I recently picked up a PinePhone community edition and hoping to contribute to development by complaining about what doesn't work.

I've noticed nearly everyone else here can do some cool stuff with complex programming or other hard next level programming stuff. So the following is a list of things I can do; ride a mountain bike really fast down a mountain/hill/trail, do a shuv it and a 180 and sometimes a heel flip on skateboard (at the age of 34 mind you), lose to my 7 yr old at Pokemon TCG, and I can lift some weights sometimes. So I'm practically useless unless you want some poorly done HTML and bash scripting. But I will complain loudly when I encounter something that doesn't work, so there's that I guess.

Anyway, I look forward to the day when UBports can be my daily driver OS and am in awe of the amazing work going on here, keep it up everyone!

@Chim I had a very good experience with the OnePlus, it was practically ready for daily use for me, until I broke the sim card reader with my stupid nano to micro sim adapter tray.

hi, my name is max (commisde) i have a german passport and mostly live in east of germany. BSc food science. i use ubuntu and UT on a nexus 4 (daily driver) since 2 weeks.

i have very little programming experience (turbo pascal in school, script kiddie use of an instagram bot, some terminal stuff in ubuntu, colobot) but like logical thinking and working, so i have the feeling, i can understand the idea of how programs work.

i am a little fed up with how smartphone technology in society is used atm and want to contribute to the potential of it for good.

I'm Josh from Australia and I work in product delivery. I'm not much of a coder but I work in agile delivery and am study product delivery.

I've been looking at UT since it was released (I managed to get myself a BQ E5) and have had an array of different phones (I have a mint Nokia N9 and went to the WebOS launch in Shanghai when HP/Palm launched it 'new' phones and tablet back in the day.

I'd love to help out in product development where I can.

                                  Cheers,

Hi, i am playing around with Linux since Debian 2.0 - i even still have the original CD ordered from pearl back than (is this still a thing btw?) I am really more a end user, not a developer at all. So i am on stable channel with my new PinePhone UB-Ports CE. Sadly its currently not yet usable for calling (OTA-12 stable). I am so grateful there is a alternative to Android and Apple devices - the human kind is really in need for this! I hope in future schools and medicine sector will get equipped with Ubuntu Touch devices. It is still to early to seriously promote Pine64 devices for daily productive use, but that`s about to change, right! Thank you again for all your great work - it can not be said often enough. Happy hugs...
