Anbox on MX4?

@keneda You mean "Anbox" (or Andbox")?

I mean "androΓ―d in a box", may it be "andbox" or "anbox" ^^

So now the device page's updated with detailed infos https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/arale/ i know anbox's not ported on MX4.
Will it be some day?
-
@keneda I do not know the answer to your question but I have tried anbox on my OnePlus One and it was not a good experience.
Most apps need access to things not available through anbox.
It slows your device and the apps run slower than they would natively.
It reduces your battery life.
You have a bunch of extra Android stuff cluttering up your app drawer.The idea is great and I am sure on newer faster hardware it will reach a point of being usable but for now on older slower hardware I would say it is not worth the effort to install it when available and definitely not worth the effort to get it working if it is not already available.

@keneda I wish it for you but the MX4 does not seem to me a smartphone of the future...

@domubpkm
Smartphone of the futur is not released yet@AntiDroid
I need it because my bank will shut down web account access, and will force (for "security reasons"... ) the use of an app, android or apple... -
@keneda Bank apps will likely never work in Anbox. They rarely work in non-stock Android builds due to needing googles signing of the device the app is running on. What you need is dual boot into Android for the odd time you want to use a Banking app. Right now devices based on Halium 9 have what is called A/B slots and can dual boot UT and Android. Although on those devices you currently need a computer connected via USB to switch slots between boots making it impracticable and most of those devices are not usable for a daily driver.

So your bank will require all customers to own a smartphone that's either Android or Apple?
Is that even legal? -
@moem I don't know, i'm not a lawyer, but i would make it illegal if i was.
And i'm not the only one here that is/will be in that situation... -
At least where I live they can do whatever they want. It is your choice to use their service and if you do not want to use it you can go somewhere else. It isn't even the law that you have to accept the countries national bank notes as a form of payment. It can be an essential service and they can say we only accept x as payment even if you have no access to that payment method. The rich make the rules and they are always to their benefit,

@keneda I would suggest trying the search function this forum has
https://forums.ubports.com/topic/1679/how-to-anbox-for-meizu-mx4-araleHowever not sure if it still works. AFAIK there was not really much Ubuntu Touch Anbox-related development going on in the last few years.
-
@zubozrout This topic should be moved here in MX4 section.
I didn't search forum cause i didn't think to, my bad.
Well after reading, it sounds tricky, not sure i'm going to try install, i don't want to ruin my daily driver.
Maybe this patch could be merged in arale next update?
-
@keneda Have just moved it. Thanks
