My Ubuntu Touch daily driver is...
-
BQ E5 HD - from the very beginning. Although I have been on dev channel from the time Ubports took over, i never faced a real problem. Well done Ubports team and eveyone working on the system. My other phones are the Nexus 5 (unfortunately with an hardware issue, else it is performing well) and the pinephone. The latter needs more love but I hope it is getting it eventually.

@marlboro50 The ONLY real problem that (somewhat) poisons (a little) YET every BQ E5 HD and BQ 4.5 holder despite @lduboeuf 's enormous efforts to solve this is this one :
CANNOT HANG UP CALL -
@keneda Yeah, my MX4 seems to have its own issue. Battery isn't exactly dead since it still lasts long. Probably something with the port. Data connection doesn't work as well so I won't be able to reflash it in case it becomes unbootable Sluggishness happens most of the time but there are rare time it suddenly becomes normal again.

@kugiigi
You could change the mx4 usb plug ^^ -
From October 2018, for about a year it was a OnePlue One - for the most part everything works well with it, with phone calls and LTE mobile data all good, as well as it being able to send to wireless external display. The downsides to it being no camera zoom, no camera flash, poor camera autofocus, mediocre photos as well, less reliable micro-USB connection, not great battery life, and difficulty with it ever finding location via gps.
I replaced this with a Meizu Pro 5, which relative to the OnePlus One has better display, faster cpu, working finger print unlock, extra slot for micro SD card or a second SIM, working flash and zoom for the camera (which also has a better sensor), and decently fast lock to gps. Its downside was it was difficult to flash to UT (if you purchase one that comes with Flyme OS), and that it is limited to 3G/HSPA for mobile data here in the USA due to LTE band incompatibilities. But otherwise this is a great device to use with UT.
And currently I have a Volla Phone, which I think is truly a beautiful device to use UT with. The only real issue in using it as a daily driver I have come up with is that has been that phone calls and sms texts work on my current carrier T-mobile (for USA, central Texas to be more precise), but that mobile data has been limited to 2G with them - while the test of an AT&T SIM in a store demo, I got LTE mobile data, but was not able to make a phone call. I am waiting on an AT&T network sim from Red Pocket Mobile to test whether I can get both working in a dual sim setup. External wireless display also does not work right now, and there is no support in the UT Camera app for the second rear camera which enables "portrait mode" currently, and that the network indicators in portrait mode get hidden behind the tear drop notch as well. But other than those foibles, the Volla is highly recommended by myself.
Best regards,

I went from a feature phone to Ubuntu touch on a Oneplus One as my daily driver. The lack of flash and zoom for taking pictures has to be the only features that reduces the phones usability in anyway for me.
The only other thing that I would like to be able to use on Ubuntu Touch is video calling like Zoom.
As for GPS I have only really tried once outdoors and after turning it on and keeping it alive with an app it eventually figures out your location. For everyone that says it doesn't work I think they are used to devices with A-GPS which is assisted GPS that uses cell towers and Wifi networks to determine the location way before it has enough satellite pings for normal GPS locating.
I now have a OnePlus 6T for experimenting and the current build for it is old and not really ready for daily use.

Oneplus One zoom and flash is coming with the Halium 7.1 update, currently its still blocked by some tooling thats needed to upgrade the old installations from classic ports to Halium. But once we have this we can roll it out...
-
@domubpkm, yes it's true, hanging up calls on the HD5 is somehow a true annayance, but there are times when it seems to work.
-
@marlboro50 Exact !.... and there are times when it's a real mess !
-
Thanks to everyone who share his advices!
If you are someone who look for a daily driver, most of the guys who reply here are very very UT active guys , so you can trust them!
Many thanks for all the works done for the OS!

Since 2015 BQ Aquaris E4.5

bq aquaris E5 HD ubuntu edition since 2016.

Xperia X Performance Dual Sim. Not sure how how long I will keep trying it without anbox. I have to have whatsapp. The normal one. lol
-
Using Xiaomi Mi A2 for 1 month. Problems: Camera doesn't work when I try to make a video, pretty often it stops detecting SIM so I should reboot the device, also no anbox. Everything else works fine, enjoying Ubuntu Touch.
-
@purplevvay Did you tried OTA-16 it might solve some of your problems. On the today's devel which is very similar to OTA-16 camera works for me, anbox always worked for me (despite been unoffical) and I guess SIM detecting depends on your carrier
-
@carlod Yeah! I have updated my phone today. It detects sim. But it usually stops working next day, so I'll see what will happen tomorrow. The video mode still makes the camera freeze.
I don't know what to say about anbox, maybe you should contact devs or porter if you got it working. I guess I should make my image read-write to set up anbox, but how would I install a system update then.
-
Volla phone here with (for now) ota-15. Awaiting 16
-
Hi @purplevvay
For further talk on this issue, please open a new thread in the dedicated subforum (for your specific device).
This is getting a bit OT here. Thanks.

Xioami Mi A2 here, I'm not sure that I'd recommend it necessarily, it has some issues with not getting calls and texts and video recording doesn't work. I'd probably recommend the Nexus 5, it's fairly inexpensive and everything works really well

Just started running on OnePlus One, so far it's been good, a few freeze ups, battery lasts most of the day even while streaming to bluetooth headset. Calls work on bluetooth (accept-disconnect) but pause/play from headset does not.
Running on stable release, I think I'll stay there for now. I have it on 2g/3g so calls and SMS work on Patriot Mobile, ATT has issues, I cannot receive SMS.
Looking to connect to monitor (convergence is it?), can anyone tell me the adapter they use?
Think I like how UT is progressing. I want a better equipped phone but OPO is the most complete according to UBPorts.
