Hi guys , I have seen that there are usually problems with the Hotspot on several ported devices and on the Nexus 5, because doesn't work and after using it does WIFI not reconnect , I have no problems with that but it has a way of acting.

        CONNECT Hotspot

        1st turn on the WIFI
        2nd turn on the Hotspot
normally it doesn't connect the first time and we continue with the procedure,
        3rd turn off the Hotspot
        4th turn on the Hotspot
normally you see the signal from the phone and can connect perfectly, but it may happen that you detect that it is on but does not connect and every time you put the password the mobile tells you to put it again,
in this case you have to restart the procedure.

        5th turn off the Hotspot
        6th turn off the Wifi
        7th turn on the Wifi
        8th turn on the Hotspot
here it usually connects, otherwise repeat the process again.

DISCONNECT Hotspot this is very important if you want to turn off the hotspot to reconnect WIFI, especially on Nexus 5.

        1st turn off Hotspot
        2nd turn off the Wifi

This method has always worked for me, I hope it helps.

Tested with Nexus 5, Bq U plus, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Note 9 Pro.

If it is true that in certain circumstances, we become the kings of the fiddling or the workaround with UT 😀 (for example in my case to obtain an operation of troubleshooting of the MMS on the Volla currently 🙃🙃). For the BQ and the VOLLA, the hotspot works very well and not need to be Einstein to share the Internet with it ! The hotspot is a horror on the Nexus 5 and USB tethering is recommended for it. On the other hand, the Volla (Halium 9) and the BQ have no connection problems so far with the hotspot.
USB tethering is a useful and reliable solution to share the internet (SYSTEM / ADB PARAMETERS /activate RNDIS in UTTT), but it does not work on the Halium 9 devices so far: a weak point.

@domubpkm You're right, we mess a lot to make things work, the Bq have always been very good, I discovered this way of acting with the Nexus 5, I always had to reboot because the hotspot didn't work, if I got the hotspot to work then the wifi didn't work,
That's why it's very important how to disconnect it, if you want to have wifi later, you will find that the wifi will work fine without having to reboot the phone.
I just installed Ut on my Xiaomi note 7 and the hotspot works too.

                  Hi guys [...]
                  Regards...

Hello, I have the Nexus 5 and have tried your technique, which works once out of (too) many attempts (on an android GPS autoradio, so you can imagine how it is important to not be lost).

This is a real pain to make it work on this android device, while for Linux devices, it "just" works without any technique.

I have tried to use my GPS directly from the Nexus 5 with Pure Maps... no GPS fix...

Anyway, I would be so happy that this bug would be fixed once for all.

For GPS (first) fix to work on uT devices, you have to be in openwide ground space and wait from 5 to 15 mn.

@prog-amateur I do this technique with more devices, BQ U plus, Xiaomi note 7 and I have not had any failures, the good thing is that by disconnecting the hotspot in this way, when you want to turn on the wifi it works at the first time.

                      regards...

Something related to this HotSpot issue. Some devices, like the OnePlus 3T, have a HotSpot that always works on this first attempt. For others, like the Cosmo Communicator, the HotSpot never works.

                        VollaPhone22 (dual-boot of VollaOS and UT 20.04 OTA-5), Pocophone F1 (pmOS, edge)

Hotspot cannot be solved for all devices in the same way, this is an implementation detail of the vendor and early UT versions had kinda good solution for it, but starting with Halium 7.1 things became more complicated. This needs proper adressing of the Android bits and as long nobody takes care of that it will be hit or miss....
