Hello , i am Matthias (sorry, its easy to pronounce ) from germany. i hear your podcast regularly since episode 80.
I have some questions (take what fits the best)
-
can you say some words about the aim of utouch? Shall it replace my android phone and be (or become) a daily driver? i ask because i read sometimes in forum one saying "oh utouch is not working perfect now, i switch back to android" and getting answers like "oh well, if android is working well for you, then you are wrong on utouch"
-
when i tell my friends and family about alternate systems like sailfish and utouch. AAAll the questions are about apps (is whatsapp working sleepy) and in forums as well. i feel this is important. Are you planning to bring up the standard apps as well? Can "the standard apps" be defined?
-
is morph browser chromium based? i was shocked when i heared that. Is that a concern? why arent you using firefox? can you explain if that is an issue (because when i am at utouch i might want to avoid google )

Hi, there has been any investigation around implementation of A-GPS in Ubuntu Touch? Is something possible in the future?
Thank you!

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has a web page to test "how trackers view your browser": https://coveryourtracks.eff.org
Apparently the Morph browser does not fare well in this test:
"Our tests indicate that you are not protected against tracking on the web."
"Blocking tracking ads? No"
"Blocking invisible trackers? No"I did the test with OTA-17 and µAdBlock installed. Any comment welcome.

@keneda RCS is apart of MMS/SMS. I belive we would have to solve MMS issues first, since RCS's fall back and reliance on MMS. I belive this would be a great first step after 20.04 upgrade. I love this topic. Please talk about this.

There was kind of an anouncement the last time, that there will be certain devices, which could replace the nexus 5 and the Opo as "flagships" - which devices do you have in mind? (I'm asking, because I wanna buy me a new one...)
-
Not a question but a bit of information to the community.
2 weeks ago now the ubports sub reddit has been claimed back by u/carbonated_bread and brought back to life.https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubports/comments/nrpqsm/rubports_lives_no_longer_in_restricted_mode/

Is there any progress on enabling in browser GPU accelleration for those devices that support it (i.e. don't break horribly when it is enabled).
Is backporting qt 5.15 the next project once 20.04 is reached?
-
@ubuntoutou - that is an indication that uAdBlock is not enabled correctly. Try disabling it and re-enabling it, this has worked for me to fix a similar problem in the past.
Best regards,

What about photo filters or editing in video? It is something really difficult to implement?
And what about zipping and unzipping I'm native file browser?
It is already here or not?
Thank you and always w Ubports -

Having seen the q and, a, I will say : despite the immeasurable efforts of the few very high level developers (volunteers or paid) who are working beyond the call of duty to make UT as viable as possible, my present feeling is that probably a critical point has been reached where an additional influx of highly skilled developers is absolutely necessary, if only to help solve the problems and tasks at hand.

There are apps that do photo filters. I don't know about video.
And what about zipping and unzipping I'm native file browser?
It is already here or not? It's already here to my knowledge. You can extract zip files with a tap in file manager.

@totalrando InstantPho for photo, but broken since QT5.12.
-
@gabrielgub you can try Photopea Webapp for photo editing.
-
@domubpkm problem with online services is you give them your data, not talking about data consuming and better convinience of a local tool.

Just to point out this is not the best thtread for this discussion. Maybe start a new thread somewhere save it getting lost.
