@ubportsnews there is increasing interest in the use of Rust programming language, mainly due to its ability to enforcing memory safety statically. is there interest in integrating this language into UT? what do you think would be the components that would benefit most from being written in Rust language?

ALSO: thanks to my collaboration in OpenStreetMap I'm earning some Chrons from the NEO Economy (equivalent to 0.6€ per hour editing in OSM...I can also reach 6h/week)... is there a way to donate them to the ubports foundation?

Getting GPS signal inside buildings is almost impossible, at least for me, in the future there's any sort of plan to implement Assisted-GPS or something else?

          Thank you!

Why is morph built in to the OS, and cant be uninstalled though the store? What if their is a CVE, can we push an update to it with out a whole version change of the os? Do other parts of the OS depened on a web browser? In the future can we see an alternative?

Currently Using: Google Pixel 3a (sargo) OTA-17

@opaijavai I endorse this, I need to use the gps and them map in a new place. If googlemaps is something you don't trust, is comprehensible, but something that works may do the work.

                @ubportsnews

                1. If a government of a country ask you to breach the security of Ubuntu Touch, asking the team to create a backdoor in the platform, so their Intelligence Dept could have access. How would you respond to them? Would you runaway like Edward Snowden, or you have a legal team?

                2. After the Pandemic, would you like to do a LAN party somewhere?

                3. What opinion you have about the security issue of SystemD in root that has been discovered in June that has 7 years. I know that you were exited to implement it to UT in one of the next releases, but now, do you think is a good time to look at OpenRC, s6 or runit?

The Vollaphone is one of the supported devices for UT.
The Vollaphone is manufactured by Gigaset, a German company.
Would the UBPorts-installer install UT on another Gigaset phone, such as the GS4 as well?
The Gigaset GS4 seems to be very similar to the Vollaphone.

In the second half of the year, will lomiri Desktop start to provide a packaged version for development build on 20.04?

Is the XFone for real? It's seems sketchy, promising and scary all at the same time :grinning_squinting_face:

Promising, that UT is being adapted by a company. Sketchy, that I don't really know the company and their statements seem confusing to me. Scary, that it seems like they're putting proprietary stuffs in UT and somewhat changing it for their own and there's a post that they forked mir to fix external display support which they are saying is not working but it does on Nexus 5, right? LOL

                            if anbox become famous,
                            are selinux used or apparmor?
erfan anbox implementation is big security hole i think

is morph browser security part uptodate?

@keneda Ah, seems to be new iteration of the previous "SageTea" sketchy thing.

AFAIK, there is no association with UBports, and they aren't involved in Ubuntu Touch in any way.

Sagetea is the company name yes.

Very sad this kind of move, hope their work, if there really is, will be open source and you can use it as they use yours...

Hello Lakotaubp, thank you very much for your fast answer.
I did not know that flashing UT on another Gigaset phone is such a politicum. Me, I bought a Vollaphone via the Kickstarter campain and since a year now I work as a beta tester with many issues posted to get the Vollaphone work well with UT. But the vollaphone is still buggy with UT and I want to see UT on other (Gigaset-) devices, which meanwhile have a better hardware quality.

That's not flashing on another Gigaset that is politicum i believe, that's flashing a GS290 wich is the same as VollaPhone, and soon it'd be the same with GX290+...

But anyone is allowed to do whatever they wan't and UBports will not make it not possible.

Anyway, for your original question, if someone is willing to port uTouch to a GS4, wich is not the same as GS290/GX290+/VollaPhone(s), i don't see why this could be politicum. But port will have to be done quite from scratch as it's not the same hardware, and "similar" is not enough, but nothing can prevent you to test flashing a GS4 with a VollaPhone port lol.

                                      To summarize on that topic:

2- About Ubuntu Touch on other Gigaset devices:
This is possible, it requires a custom port for each device.
You can have more information in the porting documentation there: https://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/porting/index.html
3- Your question was not answered during the live because it fell under "question on porting to device ****"

Not to avoid further unrelated discussion I'll lock this thread and invite you to open a new one in the appropriate category if anyone still has questions.
