    • KDE Connect for Ubuntu Touch

Someone ever thought about bringing KDE Connect to Ubuntu Touch?
Because it would be really cool to be able to connect your Ubuntu Phone to your Ubuntu Computer 😛

      What is KDE Connect?

KDE Connect is a project that enables all your devices to communicate with each other. Here's a few things KDE Connect can do:

      • Receive your phone notifications on your desktop computer and reply to messages
      • Control music playing on your desktop from your phone
      • Use your phone as a remote control for your desktop
      • Run predefined commands on your PC from connected devices. See the list of example commands for more details.
      • Check your phones battery level from the desktop
      • Ring your phone to help finding it
      • Share files and links between devices
      • Browse your phone from the desktop
      • Control the desktop's volume from the phone

      To achieve this, KDE Connect:

      • implements a secure communication protocol over the network, and allows any developer to create plugins on top of it.
      • Has a component that you install on your desktop.
      • Has a KDE Connect client app you run on your phone "

Theres already a KDE Connect client App for Android, but also for SailfishOS.

      A preview of whats possible:

    • Spreading Ubuntu Touch to the world

We should make Ubuntu Touch more known.

It’s an elegant, beautiful and awesome OS with so much possibilities.
Let it run on the Librem 5 and put some general improvements on it or add some more features and it could be the best mobile operating system ever.

The problem, no one knows about it,
If you would ask people on the street what mobile OS they know, they would say „Android and iOS“, some would even add Windows Phone.
But no one would say „Ubuntu Touch“,
Even many developers don’t know its still a thing.
Windows Phone failed because they couldn’t get any App developers to publishing their Apps for Windows Phone.

So how should Ubuntu Touch survive if the most App developers and possible contributors don’t even know its there?

We should promote Ubuntu Touch like a product to get more users and more contributors,
But theres not even an own dedicated Twitter or Instagram Account for Ubuntu Touch.

Ubuntu Touch could become the choice for governments, because its an open source and secure mobile OS, it could become the choice for Companies because they can implement whatever they want, it could become the choice for Privacy and Security focused people like Journalists, CEOs, CTOs and Developers, and it could become so much more

So let’s collect some ideas how to spread Ubuntu Touch to the world^^

    • UBports/UbuntuTouch ("Merch") Shop

      Hey Guys,
What about an UBports Shop for some products like Stickers, T-Shirts, Hoodies and/or Cups or even some more cool stuff?
It would be an income for the Foundation, for investments in projects, server and developers, but it would also automatically spread Ubuntu Touch and UBports in the world, what could help us to get more Users and hopefully also more Developers or Contributors. The most people, don't know about the existence of Ubuntu Touch or the current status, so a few more people wearing UBports Hoodies in public or on congresses would not be bad. (Later the shop could be theoretically also used to sell a bunch of devices with Ubuntu Touch preinstalled.)

@advocatux I also think just a Twitter Account for the OpenStore is enough. It could be connected with the OpenStore RSS feed to provide automatically informations about new and updated Apps, and it could post App Recommendations of the Day/Week/Month.

But I think it would be also cool to have a dedicated Ubuntu Touch Account even if its just mirroring UBports, but people should be able to find an own account for it if they search for UbuntuTouch like they would if they search for Android.

Maybe we can even request Twitter verification badges for the Accounts, including UBports 😄

@advocatux I already know these UBports Accounts and I follow them 😛

But I thought about Accounts for Ubuntu Touch and the Open Store also,

Like you have a verified Android or App Store Accounts on Twitter, wheres UbuntuTouch and OpenStore?

Maybe I’m wrong but it I think its not bad if we have more presence with dedicated accounts for the products/services we offer also.

      Okay^^

And yep I know that ubports is on patreon,
But many people don't want to pay constantly and just want to pay once to get for example a T-Shirt.
And all these people we could get if we would have a shop for all the stuff.
