Here is a list I typed of of Issues i have seen, things i want and think could help, and apps that would make my life easier.

Issues Pixel 3a and probably others

      • Always based on the most recent LTS
      • Speaker phone stops using speaker in call when I click on it.IfI click speaker forever it shall be.
      • Xfinity Mobile Does not work
      • MMS Does not work on Mint Mobile
      • Anything using Location services take forever, maps become pointless.
      • Battery can drain in a few hours or a few days
      • Apps on the pixel 3a can not use the gyroscope.
      • Ajust brightness automatically does not work
      • Audio quality in calls
      • ui freezes often at login
      • 5G wifi networks to show up on wifi selection in settings
      • Compatibility with other linux debian distros, so apps can be relivent on all devices like flatpaks or snaps.
        Apps
      • ISOdrive to support imgs and custom folder selection
      • An app like ISO drive that is a script keyboard & use my onscreen keyboard and mouse to type on the computer. Support ducky scripts.
      • A level app that supports the pixel 3a
      • Vugerly to support cutting video and audio to make mp3 and ogg
      • An app that is a firewall, GUI
      • Spam blocker for calls kinda like hiya
        Comunity
      • A way to pay development and support the comunity. A bug bounty- This should be an app that works acrossed almost all linux phones.
      • Documentaion is everywhere, not centralized, I think we should have a place where you can get all the documentation, including known working APN settings.

Sorry for formatting, typed this up on the pixel 3a and pasted here.

Let me know what ideas you have, what are your dreams and unicorns?

@unrealb2. Pixel 3a Non XL, No luck with Xfinity Mobile, even when in to store and created a line just for that phone, double checked whitelist and set with a rep for 1 hr. Painful haha
Rep stated that all pixel 3a work on their network... I guess they never have tried Ubuntu Touch. HAHA They didn't care that it had ubuntu on it, witch was nice, but again no luck.

I went and Purchased A MintMobile SIM. Works flawlessly after a horrible set up process using another android phone and their app.

      Thinking of trying other carriers.

      Carriers That work/Tested

    • Bug Bounty Programs and Funding for Programs/bugs

I have seen in several threads and on the Q&A that some people has looked in to bug bounty programs. I wanted to start a thread to get the community talking about it, and search for a solution. What challenges do we face with taxe's? What is a way we can pay for bugs to be fixed buy people out side the community, maybe it can bring people to the community. What programs are easy to use? What features do we need and are looking for?

I had a simple Idea for a bug bounty program and that is to use a crowed funding campaign for the bug, when the bug is fixed. 75% would go to the team/individual who fixed the bug/application request, 15% would go to the UT team to help support the project and time spent maintaining. the rest for the platform fees and misc.

This would allow the community to decided how much a bug is worth, the only issue I see is if their are multiple teams working on the same project, their would be fierce competition to get your fix in first. Then if there is a tie, who wins the better secure code? This could lead to infighting... We would need a way to delegate bugs.

I put this is support, because I want the community support finding a solution and support to ad hock bug bounty at the moment.

      @povoq
From a user perspective the answer is no. I can not send/recive mms, so my work would suffer. If i was ever in an emergency situation I would not trusth the call clarity. My life could suffer. Around 5% battery phone randomly restarts. There is not a good set of app selection for my use case. I can not trust it but maybe one day. Im learning, think Im going to learn to code to create my first app.
I would say people have put in hundreds of long hours to gwt her, but we still have a ways to go.

    • APN App Concept

I want to create my first app. I have never coded before. I noticed all apps are coded in qml. As i understanded qml is a part of qt.

This app will provide apn info to users based on known working APNs that have been found to work.

Would this be a first good app to learn how to code?

      App core concepts
List Known working APN settings, Give basic lessons on what an APN is, and allow user submission of know good configerations.

I was wondering If i could some how push APN settings from the App directly to the phone?

Forinstance a user is on att and MMS isnt working they would download the app from the open store click on AT&T then click: Use APN anr the phone propts to reboot with the known apn settings.

Is this to much to take on for a first time codijt project?

Can I do this just with qml?

Is this even helpful for novice/ new users?

      MMS APN Cricket

      Name: Internet
      APN: Endo
      MMSC: http://mmsc.aiowireless.net:80
      MMS Proxy: proxy.aiowireless.net

This will be for MMS you will also have one for internet. If this works past both internet and mms setting for every one to see.

Known issue, you can not recive MMS when using wifi. Reset APN settings, reboot drive, input new settings, try reciving SMS/MMS on 4g.

    • RE: Bug Bounty Programs and Funding for Programs/bugs

@dobey This was an idea, i saw 4 diffrent platforums with fees totalling 10%. This is a debate, nothing is set in stone, this is an idea able to change on a wim. As this would be to fix issues the main devs do not have time for. Ubports I think pays the main devs, not freelancers as far as im aware. My idea also would give more to the UT devs.

The crowdfunding would be for each Bug or Issue. Maybe a agps will have a pot of $150 for the person or team implements it.

      Do you have sugestions?
Like a platform, reasons against, reason for?

Thier is crowdfunding and bugbountys two diffrent things. I was just trying to start a conversation on them. Trying to figure out what would work, and drive the comunity.

    • RE: Mobile data usage monitoring (dataMonitor app)

Replacing your wifi card and giving it a good dust off may be a good ideah.

      Found this tear down:
      https://youtu.be/o3iM0oRGWdc
      Wifi card repacement
      https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Wireless-Half-Height-K2GW5/dp/B01GOHNBLC

This should only take 10 min.
Ground yourself- touch a door knob.
Take out screws for back cover
Locate wifi card and disconnect wifi antennas
Unscrew card and slide up and then out
Then fallow this backwards to install.

I would check that your card did not go out due to a change in kernel, this has happened to me, my card worked fine, but linux did not play well.

If you plan on getting a usb wifi card, just know you may have to return a couple until you find one that works out of the box with linux.

    • RE: Bug Bounty Programs and Funding for Programs/bugs

@keneda My point is we can draw in developers, by crowd funding and bug bountys. It would be nice for devs to make a little side cash for work. Open source is free speach, not free beer. I think we should by our devs beer, and a bug bounty as thousands of companies have would expose UT to hundreds of devs, and more work could be done, alowing our main devs to stay focused on the large projects and have a day or two off. Think of all the side projects they cant get to because they are over loaded with the new port to 20.04... agps, mms issues the list goes on. I do support via patreon already, but i think it would help to 1. Give apriciation to the dev who solves the issue. 2. Free up more time of the main devs. 3. Expose UT to a large group of highly skilled ethical hackers/coders/devs 4. Maybe speed up the development of ut in a controled fashion with out moving to payed or propitary software.

Everything has motivation behind it. We should add some motivation. Ask any person on the street why should they code for UT? Find me reasons.

P.S. Its thrid/fourth of july. Sorry for the typos and bad speach.
