Host your own Cloud with NextCloud
There are apps for it already too!
See : https://open-store.io/?sort=relevance&search=nextcloud
But IMHO any service that works fine with the browser is good enough and the less apps you need the better!

Sorry, but :
So... uhm... yeah... I pretty much disagree with all your complaints!
LOL!
Ohh and I don't get the "one hand usage of the phone" thing at all : I simply use both hands because it's simply better to do so...
@geekbone said in Bootloader unlocked?:
I was able to install UT on a Pixel 3a with just a little angst, but it up and running successfully.
Congratulations!
The only question I have is every time I turn on the phone, it gives me the "Bootloader is unlocked warning". Is this a permanent thing?
YUP!
Perfectly normal and very common on a lot of phones!
@nvriezen
COOL!
Can't wait for the results!
Thank you for the notification!
But now that you mention this you made me remember a question I wanted to ask for some time now :
Has there been any contact between the UBports Team and the Telegram Developers to ask them if they will consider making a Native Client for Ubuntu Touch ?
I mean the TELEports Client works reasonably good but some GUI choices are simply less usefull/user friendly than the ones in the real Telegram Client on Android/Windows/Linux
@moem said in How to install Linux on an old tablet?:
Secondly, that tablet has 1 GB of RAM.
That makes it a poor candidate for porting it to UT.
If that is the case then I totally agree with @Moem and would also advise you to forget the tablet unless you feel like learning some new development related skills by porting Ubuntu touch to it!
I had no idea that in some countries the old "Provider Locked Phone" thing was still an issue!
Thank you for this topic!
It's a good warning when shopping on eBay and other similar places!

If one of use develops a game(for Ubuntu Touch) that requires a gamepad, it would be better a bluetooth pad or one with usb-c plug?
I hope the answer is : BOTH!
Pine note is around the corner, and I saw a wacom pen on it . . .
Do you plan to support styluses?
That would be awesome, but the decision is all yours.
There is a Samsung Note 4 port of Ubuntu Touch so I hope the answer is : YES!
Happy holydays, I hope you get all the love you deserve and gain weight with all those family special suppers.
The same to you and everyone else here on the forum!
@rik
I remember Group MMS working a lot worse for a lot of people so I guess some progress has been made in that department then!
@dizzy said in .NET6 on UT:
Is it possible to develop applications with .NET6 for UT? I was thinking of Avalonia.UI or Uno Platform.
Never heard of those two before so learned something new today! Thnx!
About .NET in combination with Linux in general :
You could try https://www.mono-project.com/ and see what happens when you add it to your phone...
Huge chance you will ending up flashing the phone again but it also might be worth it ?!
Good luck!
@majesticfudgie said in Chromium & Electron:
@nero355 The HTML5/WebApp feature for Clickable to create UT app is quite literally putting an application in its own browser window, the only difference is the lack of NodeJS on the backend.
I dislike those too to be honest...

I would prefer you did not post alternative medicine that is not only unproven, but disproven and expensive, here. Thank you for understanding.
Just trying to help and mainly talking about the book the guy has written.
I have nothing to do with the medicine but a lot of people suffer from the issue mentioned and it's really hard to find someone to help you with it...
Do whatever you think is best with the info provided
@aarontheissueguy said in Chromium & Electron:
Take my apps for example... Python + QML? An inefficient combination for sure, but it allowed me to write apps that help hundreds of people and I certanly wouldnt be writing them if someone like you would have discouraged me right from the get go and told me it was stupid when I first asked questions about it.
Still better than basically putting each application into it's own browser window!
I will ignore the rest of your comments because of obvious reasons...
@lakotaubp said in Chromium & Electron:
@nero355 Then you are more than welcome to go and have a deep one sided conversation with them on another forum. This forum is open to all UT users who are free to use it as and for what they wish and to discuss it in a free and open forum. No one has the right here to shout down or tell someone else how to use UT.
Some ideas maybe seem impracticable not possible or many number of other things and that will come out in the discussion that is what a forum is for. Plus by telling people not to try something you don't know what might be missed. Don't narrow your options or others. It really is time to stop now. Thanks.
You should indeed stop your comment and read first what Electron and for example Flutter are and why they are bad for any kind of device they are used on!
Unless you do want a lot of overhead in terms of RAM and CPU usage amongst others then be my guest and use it all the time!
@unisuperbox said in I have ended my contract with the UBports Foundation:
However, I've already stated that I experienced burnout last year. I took a week off in October to attempt to alleviate the problem. It was not enough.
Extend that to at least 2 years I would say and hopefully you will begin to feel a lot better just like I did at the time!
The fight is not over yet, but a lot of progress has been made over the years step-by-step
At this point, I think I've read every self-help book. I'm a newfound expert in getting rid of distractions, reducing stress, working intensely, being kind to myself, self-reflection, and generally being more productive or healthy.
Those books can be really good and in my case showed me how much progress I had made up to that point but please make sure to find a doctor or specialist who actually knows what he is doing and talking about!
There is a huge chance that most doctors have no idea how to help you because they don't check for signs of advertising content removed by moderator
at all!
Have you read the book this guy has written ??
It's brilliant!
I wish you all the best with the recovery and hope it lasts as short as possible!
@mrt10001 said in I hosed my UT install.....:
You have to remember all this stuff is experimental, a lot works, some doesn't.
That does not apply to everything related to Ubuntu Touch at the moment!
Due to it being a community led operating system and app store, you won't have the stringent checks that Apple and Google do with their software.
Hehehe! You are funny!
You should do some reading about all the crap in the App and Play Stores or the one Huawei uses!
My preference is not to run Android apps on UT, others may vary.
100% AGREE!!!
@lakotaubp
I happen to know plenty of developers who agree with me so maybe you should do some searching/investigating before replying something like that ?!
@lakotaubp
If the Search does it's job well I am sure everything will be OK eventually!
@cliffcoggin said in Simple printing:
@nero355 Why would you expect that? It's a phone not a computer.
Why wouldn't I expect that ?!
It's a phone that is powered by the same type of Kernel that holds the driver for my printer on my Laptop!
(Avoiding the versions of both here, but you get the idea!)
