@dizzy said in .NET6 on UT:

Is it possible to develop applications with .NET6 for UT? I was thinking of Avalonia.UI or Uno Platform.

Never heard of those two before so learned something new today! Thnx! 🙂

About .NET in combination with Linux in general :
You could try https://www.mono-project.com/ and see what happens when you add it to your phone...

Huge chance you will ending up flashing the phone again but it also might be worth it ?!

      Good luck! 🙂

@majesticfudgie said in Chromium & Electron:

@nero355 The HTML5/WebApp feature for Clickable to create UT app is quite literally putting an application in its own browser window, the only difference is the lack of NodeJS on the backend.

I dislike those too to be honest... 🙂

I would prefer you did not post alternative medicine that is not only unproven, but disproven and expensive, here. Thank you for understanding.

Just trying to help and mainly talking about the book the guy has written.

I have nothing to do with the medicine but a lot of people suffer from the issue mentioned and it's really hard to find someone to help you with it...

Do whatever you think is best with the info provided 😉

Take my apps for example... Python + QML? An inefficient combination for sure, but it allowed me to write apps that help hundreds of people and I certanly wouldnt be writing them if someone like you would have discouraged me right from the get go and told me it was stupid when I first asked questions about it.

Still better than basically putting each application into it's own browser window!

I will ignore the rest of your comments because of obvious reasons...

@lakotaubp said in Chromium & Electron:

@nero355 Then you are more than welcome to go and have a deep one sided conversation with them on another forum. This forum is open to all UT users who are free to use it as and for what they wish and to discuss it in a free and open forum. No one has the right here to shout down or tell someone else how to use UT.
Some ideas maybe seem impracticable not possible or many number of other things and that will come out in the discussion that is what a forum is for. Plus by telling people not to try something you don't know what might be missed. Don't narrow your options or others. It really is time to stop now. Thanks.

You should indeed stop your comment and read first what Electron and for example Flutter are and why they are bad for any kind of device they are used on!

Unless you do want a lot of overhead in terms of RAM and CPU usage amongst others then be my guest and use it all the time! 😕

However, I've already stated that I experienced burnout last year. I took a week off in October to attempt to alleviate the problem. It was not enough.

Extend that to at least 2 years I would say and hopefully you will begin to feel a lot better just like I did at the time! 😉

The fight is not over yet, but a lot of progress has been made over the years step-by-step :thumbs_up_light_skin_tone: :thumbs_up_light_skin_tone:

At this point, I think I've read every self-help book. I'm a newfound expert in getting rid of distractions, reducing stress, working intensely, being kind to myself, self-reflection, and generally being more productive or healthy.

Those books can be really good and in my case showed me how much progress I had made up to that point but please make sure to find a doctor or specialist who actually knows what he is doing and talking about!

There is a huge chance that most doctors have no idea how to help you because they don't check for signs of advertising content removed by moderator at all! 😕

Have you read the book this guy has written ??
      It's brilliant! 😄

I wish you all the best with the recovery and hope it lasts as short as possible! 😉

@mrt10001 said in I hosed my UT install.....:

You have to remember all this stuff is experimental, a lot works, some doesn't.

That does not apply to everything related to Ubuntu Touch at the moment! 😉

Due to it being a community led operating system and app store, you won't have the stringent checks that Apple and Google do with their software.

      Hehehe! You are funny! :grinning_squinting_face:

You should do some reading about all the crap in the App and Play Stores or the one Huawei uses! 😉

My preference is not to run Android apps on UT, others may vary.

      100% AGREE!!! 🙂

Also make sure you don't leave the screen on too long on a single static item, as it is an OLED which succumbs quite quickly to screen burn.

The duration is important indeed but so is the brightness of the screen!

A lot of people seem to be wearing sunglasses when they use their phone so the brightness is set waaay too high and causes burn-in of the screen! :grinning_squinting_face: 🕶

    • RE: UT on pinephone vs halium based UT

I think there are three things you should look into :

      • PostmarketOS on the PinePhone64 (Pro)
      • Ubuntu Touch on the Raspberry Pi 3B
      • At some point indeed Lomiri in combination with regular Ubuntu Desktop either on x86-64 or ARM based hardware 🙂

    • RE: Xiaomi redmi note 9S daily use

@nitanmarcel said in Xiaomi redmi note 9S daily use:

Also, remember that some apps don't need to have the app suspension disabled: Messaging apps that use Ubuntu Touch's notification system (E.G: TELEports).

To be honest TELEports doesn't work very reliable on my phone so I am not sure if it's a good example ?!

I miss more messages/notifications than I receive and the app beeing opened or closed doesn't seem to make a lot of difference...

      Damaged battery:

Also, our phones have what I like to call "A lot of garbage" in the form of customized kernels, ROM ports, which might contributed to the damage the battery in the past if they we're configured incorrectly (E.G: Kernels that enable charging voltages that shouldn't be enabled on the phone, Kernels that overclocks the processor, graphic chip making the device use more power than usual, etc).*

Another factor that might decrease the battery health are fake chargers, unofficial chargers, etc

Sorry but that sounds like a bunch of nonsense...

The only thing I can agree upon are these two :

      • Kernels that enable charging voltages that shouldn't be enabled on the phone.
      • fake chargers.

The rest can be ignored! 🙂

I know this thread is old by now but I really need to ask :

How is it possible that his provider refuses to support the more expensive and advanced OnePlus 7 Pro and instead only supports the cheaper OnePlus 7T and also the older 6T model ?!

That makes no sense when we talk refusing/cutting 3G phones from their network : The can all use 4G/4G+ and with Android installed probably VoLTE too ?!

I was messing around with Waydroid today with a spare two minutes and accidentally hosed UT. My fault being too impatient waiting for some thing to install so I stopped the process and rebooted the phone 🙄 (yes idiot).

    • RE: [Solved] Is there a solution to use a wired hands-free kit

      @embeddedmz
If there was a original accessory available for your phone without any special features then any general USB Type-C to 3,5 mm. Audio Jack adapter should work 🙂

Why I am mentioning "special features" is because some phones have a non-standard pin layout or even integrated DAC that would need additional drivers and code added to Ubuntu Touch if we are unlucky! 😉
