    • RE: Move from Github to Gitlab?

@mariogrip said in Move from Github to Gitlab?:

      Hello everyone!

So, with the resent news about Microsoft buying Github https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/3/17422752/microsoft-github-acquisition-rumors the question have been raised to me if we should move to Gitlab. We will for sure talk about this in our Developer meeting today, so I decided to post this to see what the community things before making a decision. This has to be an Developer decision, but at the same time we do bug reporting on Github too so community input is extremely important. So please give your input on if we should move or not.

To move to Gitlab will have no major drawbacks, we will only gain extra functions like direct CI on Gitlab. Gitlab has all the existing functions we use on Github. Gitlab is even opensource which is a big plus! (github is not opensource) Importing will also be no extra job, Gitlab has already automated tools to import everything from Github (issues, pr, wiki, repos etc). And for infrastructure using Gitlab is no problem plugins etc for Gitlab already exists (https://jenkins.io/doc/pipeline/steps/gitlab-plugin/) So from my side there is no reason to not use Gitlab.

I myself strongly dislike this, and do not trust Microsoft, so I have moved all my personal things to gitlab! Also the irony asking someone to create a bug report for our project on a Microsoft platform is weird.

What I still don't understand today is why they didn't make a real switch to open-sources. The fact that they changed to the e.v. club

That is unfortunate. Did you contact the postmarketOS community? I am assuming they test and maintain the installer configuration.

I must say my morpf browser and a deepl goes very well here. So that I can answer here well better as on my first the onplus on. Which I have in cardboard and everything here. But are probably my Händy and finger too big. 😊😂 now it runs after erbelichen difficulties on my FP4.

@arubislander I have linked with some and especially with a boy about my instances. With caleb. Unfortunately I had not made it to the foscum this year. I also tried to communicate that already in the matrix. This is the first time here that I am treated nicely and get nice answers. In the German European areas this is not the case. Unfortunately, they kick out users even at ubports. I thank you for that.

I checked, and for the devices mentioned postmarketos is an option in the installer.
I don't own any of those devices so I couldn't test the installation, but the option is definitely there.

I tried it and I can tell you that it does not work, I tried it myself with two devices onplus 6T and the PF4. Even twice has caused Jalbrack. Thanks anyway for checking.

@moem This is perfectly clear to me and should not be a negative portrayal. But to achieve a hearing acceptance, it is better to bundle.so that Ubports gets a better spread. When I tell others why you do not use a Linux phone or I can not get them on it, is mostly the apps. I think the group Postmarketos goes here probably a different way. I also use a lot of things on open-souce myself and use Fediverse a lot. But unfortunately these occur just as little on UBports. That inhibits the whole system. As it is to be evaluated with Linux computers just the same. Although everyone makes a lot of effort. That must be changed finally times. On the one hand, it could bring more programmers to this system, who could bring their inovation to it from app building to basic system. This should all be reconsidered. With wayland, I myself have not yet got behind it. Since I can hardly English and must me everything überstzen in both directions. Thank you for your answer.

      Libertine

Okay but under ubports I just miss APPs. Like as an example element. I know that there is Fluffy, but in encrypted rooms is the end. I also use my own server with websites. And the Fedireserve network. Under F-Droid there is significantly more as under UbPorts..I think that should be maä reconsidered. Because at postmarketos they seem to go a different way. So I think it can be just as good for ubports. Only wad do I then with Libertine? This is a container function. I thank you for your quick answer.

      Hi
I was listening to the latest Postmarketos podcast and found out that they have soon three phones which you could install their OS/GUI using the Ubports installer. It is the Oneplus 6, Shift6MQ and soon the Fairphone 4. Great work Postmarketos and welcome to our installer 🙂

I don't know if this is set quite right by me. For one thing, I'm writing and translating via DeepL. I still hope to learn some information about Libertine Tweak Tools. I find unfortunately too little at information also videos to it. As you goes and whether I on my PF4 what I have flashed on Ubuntu Touch, with Libertine me apps that I am missing. Alone from open source as for one so as Mastodon further from the Federivers is possible. Have flashed the same again under e and have there F-Droid and there I get more apps. Now I would be interested if I can install them with Libertine, so in container on my Ubuntu Touch. Who can tell me something about this? Since I have neither on YouTube or Peertube what found. Which is a pity, because I can and could often help me with this. Therefore, once again, who can help me on this and where the whole thing is explained somewhat understandable. I thank you in advance and apologize if it filed in the wrong area, in the forum.

    • RE: Fairphone 4 news

      @ubportsnews
I walked away from it. I tried it, but I still walked away from it because there are too many bugs. In addition nimmer still too little in software are usable. I am then completely switched to e/foundation. Unfortunately still no APKs usable. Example of this. Use Matrix elemet does not go on Ubuntu and Fluffy is too bad and not as usable as Element. One example of many.
Although, I still use that on my onplus3T. Unfortunately, the battery is getting on in years and doesn't last like half an hour. Still, I'm curious about it. I found the approach of postmarkeros under posh quite great. there APKs should be just as usable. Is available in the installer, but unfortunately it all does not run properly yet. Maybe UBports will get it right.

      Translated with www.
