RE: Can I make internet calls (VoIP, SIP)?
@nosucherror Me too, think it would be great with a softphone integrated. The way i would like it is integrated with the phone app as described in this post: https://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone/msg16455.html . A very nice thing from the information in his post is that it seems to be a small job to implement it.

RE: [HowTo] Update baseband firmware
@lakota Thanks. It's good that you have had time to follow what's going on here. I've been too busy to follow this great project these last few months, but i do have been using my Ubuntu phone without worries except for this one in the meantime of course.

RE: [HowTo] Update baseband firmware
@lakota Awesome. It seems to be working again when switching to the release candidate channel. Thanks for your suggestion!
I'm surprised that no one else seem to have noticed this problem with the stable release. Or, i haven't looked throughly enough to find those who has problems.

RE: [HowTo] Update baseband firmware
@flohack Thanks for a very nice and simple instruction.
I have a problem with the mobile connection after installing r3, and i hoped that doing this could solve the problem. Unfortunately it didn't. The problem is that mobile data connection does not work anymore after upgrading to r3. The "4G" icon comes up when enabling mobile data, but the internet connection does not work and there is only the loopback interface in ifconfig.
Do you (or anyone else here, of course) have any solution for this or any suggestions on how to debug it?

It looks like the phone sends sms without my approval
I had an incoming call that i could not answer, and now i see that there is an outgoing sms at the same time as the time of the call to the same number. The message is "I'm running late, on my way now.", and written automatically by the phone.
Is this the horrible bug it looks like, or a feature that can be switched off? If so, how do i switch it off? Can it somehow have been done by the phone company?
EDIT: I have figured out now. Someone have came up with the "brilliant" idea to put a drop-down box with pre-written messages that can randomly be selected when the phone rings in your pocket.
Is there a way to remove this drop-down?

RE: [Discussion] File Manager improvements
@sverzegnassi , one problem i have after trying this development version of the file manager is that both *.mp4 and *.MOV files are played back heavily in pink color after installing it, and the problem does not go away when i uninstalling it either. I posted about it here as well, https://forums.ubports.com/topic/600/cannot-play-the-old-mov-made-by-the-canonical-image/4 , but did not get any suggestions on how to fix it. Do you have any ideas what went wrong and how to fix it?

Ok, so is the problem only related to the icon shown in the header? If so, we can remove it, and keep just the text.
I actually think it's not so easy to do it in a user friendly way. How about replacing the whole thing with "Select All" and "Select None" in the hamburger menu together with "Properties"?

RE: Version check
@Rico You go System Settings -> About -> OS, on the phone, and it should say "Ubuntu 15.04 (r2)" for latest UBports.

error: device unauthorized
I've had this problem once. I think it can have multiple causes, but in my case it disappeared when i switched my pc to Ubuntu 16.04.

RE: The big scope question
It's not unlikely that i have misunderstood scopes, but isn't the whole point to display as little information as possible but enough for the user to know it will be worth while to open specific application(s)? Just that + some simple things like time, date etc.

We might consider to review those strings for all the core apps in future, but I wouldn't try to implement something different: it might still be confusing for many others.
I would like to give you an example, because it really is confusing. Start the file manager and do long press on "Videos". Now "Select all" is checked, but only one file is checked. Humm... Then i uncheck it, and it is unchecked "Select None". This state i can get some sort of sense of, but then checking "Select None" makes the whole thing confusing again because no file is selected and the "Select All" is checked. Humm, again.

RE: Daily usable ?
@ratte I know that it appear to be forgotten, but have you actually tried to press cancel and after that select your wifi manually from the network menu?

RE: Gmail client
@Shea83 It has the gmail logo. I don't think i ever needed to zoom. It's not great, just good enough though.
-
RE: Gmail client
@Shea83 The gmail app in the legacy Ubuntu Store is ok i think. I use it everyday.

RE: Cannot play the old .MOV made by the Canonical image
After installing the new dev file manager, both .MOV and .mp4 plays, but it's all in pink color.
Any ideas what i should try now? I liked it better before when only .mp4 was played, but properly.

RE: [Discussion] File Manager improvements
Update: Viewing options are also very nice.
Sorting on size as well would be good.
Sort order graphics only right for sorting on name. Suggest replacing with arrow up and arrow down.

RE: [Discussion] File Manager improvements
Good job! Many good things in there. I particularly like the miniature pictures and icons for known file types. Uncompress also worked fine.
On the improvement side the select all/select none is very confusing i think. If i click around a little bit, it starts indicating the opposite of what it is. I think it would be better if it just selects all if it is checked and unselects all if it's unchecked. So, static text and simple select/unselect would be better i think.
Another thing about selecting is that i think it would be good if the clipboard could be filled up gradually until it is cleared, so that i can for instance select two files in two different directories and copy to a third directory. Maybe a good idea would be to have a configuration so that it can work in both that more complex way and use the simpler selection model as it is now?
The last thing i found is that i was only able to select properties for the current directory, but not for directories and files in that directory.
Thanks for your efforts with the new file manager!

RE: OTA 3 suggestions: your wanted features
@RandomUser said in OTA 3 suggestions: your wanted features:
This indeed works, but shouldn't be necessary. It annoys the hell out of me. I have a wifi extender at home and each time I move around this exact thing happens. With my old BQ4.5 and official UT it would just seamlessly reconnect.
I don't know if it's an issue with the Nexus 5 or UBports.I have not tried my phone with a wifi extender, but for that case my little workaround does not seem good enough.
I don't know either, but i think it could be both a device-specific and a general problem. I have seen that this kind of behavior happens more often on my Nexus 5, but it has also happened on my Nexus 4 with the canonical image.

bug fixes, improve user experience. For instances N5 loses wifi after every reboot
On my N5 this has not happened yet. New for r2, or you had this problem on r1 also?
I think for Ubuntu Touch on any phone, if re-asked for password where you have already been connected, just press cancel and manually select your network in the network menu.
