Hi @linuxfanche From what I understand from this video, they are using the DisplayLink technology via an app from the Google Store. I doubt there is something cooked in Ubuntu Touch to take advantage of DisplayLink. But when it comes to possibilities, this give me hope that with enough work it can be achieved: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayLink#Linux As for the waydroid part of your question, I also doubt the necessary connection are available for the DisplayLink app to work as intended. Best try it out to be sure :man_shrugging: My best

Hello @linuxfanche , I think you can play audio via bluetooth like in the car or on a bluetooth speaker (if I understood the question correctly). Video streaming via Bluetooth does not exist as far as I know.

Fairphone 4 kind of replaced the Nexus 5 as the recommended device to maximize convergence however, it is not really ideal due to its price and availablity. Worth saying though that desktop mode on an external display isn't exactly usable in its current state. It's too buggy and unstable especially due to some regressions after the focal update. So if you intend to actually use it for real tasks, I'd say it's not advisable to do so.

@linuxfanche said in Root information ask: after installing ubuntu touch do i have to unroot my smartphone or leave it like that? Just to avoid all possible confusion: you do not need to root your phone in order to install Ubuntu Touch. You just need to unlock the bootloader, and like @Keneda said: leave it unlocked.

No, it's not. There is no Focal version for that device.

@linuxfanche Interesting product. Technically it would only work in very limited devices and won't work as intended. So short answer no, long answer, maybe For wireless connection to work, it should be Miracast and currently compatibility is a hit and miss. Never found one that works on any of my devices. If ever it would work, input lag would likely be bad If it works well, I don't think Miracast support external touchscreen so you won't be able to control your UT device using the e-ink. For wired, only a few supports it. Top of my head - Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2013, Shift phone, Fxtec Pro1 (Not Pro1-X), Fairphone 4. Then not sure if those supports external touchscreen. Most likely, Nexus device don't. I can only confirm Fairphone 4. Even with everything working fine, UT uses an external display as an extended screen and there's currently no mirror mode. Also, external touchscreen isn't working well because it is mapped to the device instead of the external display.
