@wally you are correct, your new settings are what I recently tried and they work. I never got a notice saying my APN setting would stop working in Feb. I am very curious to know how you get notices about this. Do I have to sign up for those sort of notifications somewhere? Apologies for how long I have been away from these forums...

CANADA: settings for a fully functional UT device
This topic is meant to support people trying to set up APN settings on UT devices in Canada. It mirrors the one set up for the USA
---UPDATE July 2024---
Here are my current APN settings that get me data and MMS:
Used For: Internet + MMS
Name: Internet/MMS 2
APN: sp.mb.com
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
Proxy: mmscproxy.mobility.ca
Proxy Port: 8799
<User Name, Password ALL BLANK>OLD SETTINGS - do not work anymore, but kept in post just on caseit is useful to others.
(https://forums.ubports.com/topic/8338/updated-usa-t-mobile-and-mvno-settings-for-a-fully-functional-ut-device?lang=en-After discussion with the folks responsible for that topic it was decided Canada needed a separate page since it appears our 3G and 2G shutdowns have much different timelines. Here are the APN settings that allow data and MMS on Public Mobile: ``` Public Mobile Used For: Internet + MMS Name: Internet/MMS 2 APN: sp.mb.com MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc Proxy: 74.49.0.18 Proxy Port: 80 <User Name, Password ALL BLANK> ``` NOTE: Cellular connection type works ONLY on the 2G/3G setting. Unlike in the USA it also appears that MMS can be sent and received with WIFI on as well. NOTE 2: Device these settings were tested on: * Pixel 3a running Focal

RE: Bounty for Pixel 3a/Halium 9 stability
@irnbru yeah I am in Canada as well and I can receive 100% sms and about 50-65% mms. A reboot often gets mms working again. I think this is affecting US users more for some reason...

RE: Bounty for Pixel 3a/Halium 9 stability
I wonder if someone should build a cloud-based spreadheet with all bounty commitments so a dev could quickly see how much is available to tackle this issue. Might help convince someone to take this on. I could build the sheet but wasnt sure if someone else was in a better position to do so. Or maybe we can pin a running total to the top of the thread if that is possible?

RE: This should make you scratch your head
@applee thanks. I didn't want to flag him with the use of his handle (I think he has a few other issues he is tackling at the moment) which is why I simply added his forum user page if we wanted to escalate the issue. Regardless, glad to hear he is aware. Cheers

RE: This should make you scratch your head
@trwidick sorry I don't think I can be of much help here. Maybe see if you can find the porter/maintainer's forum handle and bring him into the conversation. This is the person listed on the device page as the port's developer: https://forums.ubports.com/user/fredldotme

RE: This should make you scratch your head
@trwidick interesting. Only difference is I am on stable. Hope you can get to the bottom of this.

RE: This should make you scratch your head
@trwidick hmmm doesn't seem to work for me. Do I need to do anything special to enable?

RE: First Time Install
@crab_aesthetics sorry but I bet my experience won't be much help. My install went like this: the installer finished the install and seemed to suggest a successful intall, but then it wouldn't boot fully into UT, just hung on Google screen. I then tried reflashing and then halfway through the reflash my 3a booted up and it just started to work. I have always wondered if the first flash had an error in one of the early steps and the second partial reflash fixed it... That whole install process was a little touch and go.

RE: First Time Install
@crab_aesthetics bummer! Hope you can find a replacement. 3a is a nice UT phone.

RE: APN setting Difficulty for stable mobile data
@standupmobile bummer. Sorry my settings didnt help you out. Other than the occasional restart my mms seems to now be working well. I wish i knew more about why it is working. Do you know of any other logs I should share with this forum in case someone can figure out why my mms is now working?

RE: First Time Install
@crab_aesthetics as far as I could tell there was nothing labled Uconnect in the bluetooth menu/options in my Hyundai. A quick Google search Looking for Hyundai and Uconnect also didn't bring up anything. It seems like a vanilla stock Bluetooth implementation. Hope this helps.

RE: First Time Install
@crab_aesthetics I'll check next time I'm in the car and report back.

RE: First Time Install
@crab_aesthetics my 2017 Hyndai Ioniq paired easily with my 3a over bluetooth and happily reconnects when I enter the car. I can play music and even make and take calls using the car's touchscreen and buttons on the steering wheel. YMMV, but I felt I should at least let you know what I have working.

RE: APN setting Difficulty for stable mobile data
@StandUpMobile do these updates tell you anything more about the issue? Do we know of anyone else in North America that has mms working properly?
-
RE: APN setting Difficulty for stable mobile data
@rdl85 update 2: after putting my phone in flight mode then turning it off again, my wifi would not turn back on. I decided to restart my phone. The restart got my wifi working again, but them I also noticed the final missing mms arrived too. Could my wifi crash have anything to do with the mms? Maybe my previous restart wasnt a full restart which is why that mms only arried after the 'second' restart... Sorry if this is obviously unrelated to those who know more about this, i would just love to get to the bottom of this issue so mms can work for everyone with a 3a.

RE: APN setting Difficulty for stable mobile data
@rdl85 update: over the past 48 hours I have had three incoming mms fail. I have not changed anything in my apn. One failure was fixed after I restarted my cellular data, but two other mms (from someone else) were not fixed by trying that. I even restarted the phone, but no luck. It is clear whatever allowed my mms to start properly working has not fixed the feature completely.

RE: APN setting Difficulty for stable mobile data
@standupmobile apologies for not posting more in last post, I should have realised people would want t know more than just APN website I used...

RE: MMS issues
@aircooled my mms is now working properly. I used the Public mobile settings shown on:https://www.apninfo.com/public-mobile-apn-settings. they may have accurate settings for other carriers in NA as well. Apologies for somewhat of a cross post but we have a few threads deaing with mms right now.
