I have the latest version of ubports for my e4.5 and have been using it with no problems. However last week, when I went to restart it after putting in a sim I use for travelling, I ended up with a black screen after the ubuntu boot screen. The BQ flashscreen comes on fine, and then the ubuntu boot screen comes on very briefly, followed by a black backlit screen. I've tried various combinations of power plus up volume button, down volume button, and just pressing the power button with the same result. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Instagram and videos
Thank you for your reply. I've tried using morph browser and instagraph, but there is no way to upload videos. Same problem using my desktop running Ubuntu. I can upload pictures, but not video. I did some more research and apparently using https://getgramly.com might work as a workaround. I will try that.

Instagram and videos
I would like to be able to add videos to my instagram account, but it doesn't look like there is a way? Can I only upload from the instagram android app, or is there a workaround?

bq aquaris 4.5 and mini dac support
This is a reply to my question here https://forums.ubports.com/topic/4872/usb-dac-and-bq-4-5
I'm starting a new message so it can be categorized appropriately.Looks like I answered my own question. I tried a usbc dongle dac plugged in to a usbc to micro usb adapter and when it's plugged in to my phone, the audio is not routed through the plugged in dac. Using dmesg I get the following:
usb 1-1:New high speed USB device number 7 using musb-hdrc
input:Generic TX 384kb Hifi Type-c Audio as /devices/platform/mt_usb/musb-hdrc.0/usb1/1-1/1:1.2/input/input10
hid-generic 0003:0BDA:492F.0006: input: USB HID v1.11 Device [Generic TX 384kb Hifi Type_C Audio] on usb-musb-hdrc.0-1/input2Looks like this has no chance of working?

usb dac and bq 4.5
Re: USB C Dac support
I was interested in getting this usb dac ( https://www.audioquest.com/dacs/dragonfly/dragonfly-black) to use with my bq 4.5. According to this thread it might work on some phones. https://forums.ubports.com/topic/4240/usb-c-dac-support?_=1599492141324. My plan is to connect via a micro usb adapter. Will this work, or not all? -
Does the Music app support Replaygain tags?
I've recently put almost my entire music library on my phone. There are a few albums which are quiter than the others. If I add replaytags, will the Music app be able to read these tags?

Can I use an sdxc microsd?
Hello everyone. I have a BQ e4.5 and I've recently put quite a lot of lossless music on a 32gb microsd card. I'm gradually running out of space and would like to use a higher capacity sdxc card in my phone. Is this possible? According to official documentation its limited to 32gb sdhc cards.
Thanks

Hangups not working
Pleased to have 16.04 running on my BQ E4.5. I just realized that Hangups no longer works, and it doesnt seem to appear in the Open Store. Does this mean that I will no longer be able to use Hangups? Is there an alternative that will allow me to chat with Google Hangouts contacts?

RE: osmscout crashes
Loviewer seems to be set for /home/phablet/.cache/upstart/, filtering by *.log. Ubuntu logs it displays are;
android-usb-state.log
application-click-logviewer.neothethird-logviewer_1.1.log
dbus.log (where I found reference to osmscout and apparmor)
media-hub.log
mtp-server.log
scope-registry.log
smart-scopes-proxy.log
ubuntu-location-service-trust-stored.log
ubuntu-push-client.log
unity8-dash.log
unity8.logShould I post the output from each of these logs?

RE: osmscout crashes
@advocatux I'm still trying to figure this out. Where do I find crash logs?
-
RE: osmscout crashes
I just installed logviewer, and ran osmscout again. Having a quick look at the logs, I can see an entry that apparmor is denied. Could this be the problem?

RE: osmscout crashes
@advocatux It's running ubuntu 15.04 (r3). osmscout was working up until very recently. I'm not sure what the problem is. I tried reinstalling osmscout to see if it would do anything. How do I check the logs?
Thanks for your help

osmscout crashes
Hello all.
I just reinstalled osmscout on my Bq e4.5 but everytime I navigate to the map screen (to download and select maps), it crashes. Any idea why this happens. I tried reinstalling it again and deleting the maps folder from a previous working installation, but it doesn't help. I really like this gps program because it allows offline routing.
Thanks

RE: offline navigation for ubports
@gt I'm not having problems downloading. Just select the map you want and then tap on Download.

RE: offline navigation for ubports
Thanks for the replies. I do have OSMScout installed , but it seems to crash a lot on my phone. I used to use a program called gpsmid https://sourceforge.net/projects/gpsmid/ on a sony phone, but I guess there's no way to run this on ubports?

offline navigation for ubports
Hello all. I'm looking for a good navigation software that will support offline maps and routing. I have unav, but it seems to need a data connection to work, and doesnt support offline routing. Any others I can try? I can't update my standalone gps (navigon) anymore, so I want to use my phone for this purpose.
Thanks

RE: Is there an fm tuner for built in radio available?
And by radio, I don't mean streaming internet radio...I mean an app that will use a phone's built in fm chip. Something like this http://nextradioapp.com/

Is there an fm tuner for built in radio available?
Would like to use the fm radio in my BQ 4.5. Is there a tuner available that will let me access this?
