    • RE: [REQUEST] VNC Server testing/assistance

@abmyii It seems to work well. No errors in the log. (Oneplus One, rc channel, Ultravnc on windows 10).

      I ran it with

      phablet@ubuntu-phablet:/opt/click.ubuntu.com/mirvncserver.abmyii/1.0.0$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/ ./mirvncserver -m /run/mir_socket --cap-interval 2 -s 432 768

      thanks for creating this

    • RE: wifi doesnt work in OPO

@UdenGoogle multiple persons have met this issue. Search the forum for 'opo wifi' and you will find some. Some got it working and some did not.

This one seems to had success: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/4225/oneplus-one-bacon-wifi-issue/20

    • RE: OnePlus one WiFi issue..

@Nathan123 no idea what can be wrong. All I know is that the only issue I have with wifi on my opo is that sometimes after booting wifi is not available. For the rest it works flawless.

Did you flash anything special before trying ubports? Maybe try to revert to stock modem?

    • [solved] problem installing ubports on opo

I used the ubports installer many times for my opo. Now it fails consistently. I flashed lineage 16.0 and want to go back to ubports but after the installer does it's magic in fastboot the ubports recovery does not show up in 'adb devices'. normal booting just hangs.

When I reinstall lineage and verify adb is working and in bootloader mode I manually flash the ubports recovery (fastboot flash recovery C:\Users\neil\AppData\Roaming\ubports\bacon\firmware\recovery-bacon.img) and boot into it 'adb devices' remains empty.

Is the adb server still present and working in the recovery image?

I am running the installer on Windows 10 and tried to install both rc as well as stable.

solved: virtualbox was grabbing the device so the host adb (windows) never saw it. The installer now works. Well it is busy doing stuff ...

    • renamed shoutcast-ubports into shoutcast-ut

      Hi,

I have renamed my app shoutcast-ubports into shoutcast-ut. This in order to remove any link with the UBports Foundation.

Some time ago there was a general request in the telegram groups to not use the foundations name and a new release seemed like a proper moment for the rename.

The new app is added to the open-store and the old one removed. New github url is https://github.com/wdehoog/shoutcast-ut

Sorry for any inconveniences. (Believe me, mine were bigger then yours.)

    • RE: Sony Xperia X (suzu/F5121 & F5122)

@c4pp4 Hi. You tried to revert the commit 8 days ago and it did not help. I also tried to revert it and it did not help me either. Now todays update seems to work and indeed the commit is gone. But I suspect something else has also changed. I am probably wrong and it is of no use anyway since it now works.

    • RE: CardDav (contacts) support

@Thatoo I am not one of the devs but please allow me to respond.

You are completely right that contacts sync is very important and that it's current state is bad. However you are wrong in thinking that MIR and Lomiri are geeky and not used by your mum. In fact everybody uses them and without them there is no Ubuntu Touch.

Unfortunately the current state of affairs is that the few devs have to spend all their resources to developping the base system and do not have much left to work on higher layers like contacts sync.

As this is a community project you will have to work on it yourself or wait until somebody else will.

Me I would like to read a book and listen to the music files on my dlna server. As this could not be done I had to start working on my own app and fixing/extending various parts of ubuntu touch (led, gestures, media-hub).

Sorry I cannot help you making you feel better but I hope you can understand why things are as they are now.

    • RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 78 On Saturday 20th June At 19:00 UTC

Creating a changelog for updates is too much work. But now it is very hard to detect the source of problems and regressions. Is it possible to automatically create a list of versions of installed packages for each update? (Or does such a list already exist?) And then have them available for a while so we can compare them and look for possible candidates to investigate.

    • RE: Sony Xperia X (suzu/F5121 & F5122)

@c4pp4 I notice lots of logs in repowerd.log, lightdm.log and syslog. top shows lots of activity for systemd-logind and polkitd and sometimes Networkmanager.

still no idea what is going on.

since this is no sony-xperia-x specific problem we better continue somewhere else. a github issue?

    • RE: Sony Xperia X (suzu/F5121 & F5122)

@c4pp4 If the problems are caused by the repowerd commit you refer to then it remains strange that some apps do not suffer from this issue. The relation to wifi is also a mystery to me. I am afraid I cannot be of much help here.

    • RE: work on media-hub

@theare27 which phone are you using? which app are you using or do all apps behave this way?

Could you please add these issues to https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues or https://github.com/ubports/media-hub ?

    • RE: Sony Xperia X (suzu/F5121 & F5122)

@c4pp4 still strange that some other apps can play without being interrupted. anything interesting in log files? /var/log/syslog or /var/log/repowerd.log or ~/.cache/upstart/media-hub.log

@c4pp4 Is the Music app still in your list of apps that will not be suspended (marked 'prevent app suspension' in UTT)?

or use: gsettings get com.canonical.qtmir lifecycle-exempt-appids

    • RE: Sony Xperia X (suzu/F5121 & F5122)

@c4pp4 Then I would expect the first track to be played ok (media-hub has the lock) and the next ones being 'interrupted' (media-hub) does not acquire a new lock for the next tracks).

If I remember well you can see the locks being aquired/released in /var/log/repowerd.log.
Something like requestSysState and clearSysState. Maybe it is worth checking to see if this is the issue.

    • RE: Sony Xperia X (suzu/F5121 & F5122)

@c4pp4 @eichenbast how are you playing the music?

This is probably caused by the media-hub not keeping/aquiring a 'wakelock'.
Flas probably works since it plays a stream (which is 1 track) for which the lock is acquired. (I don't know what Cloud Music is.)

When charging or with screen on the phone does not go in sleep mode so the music plays fine. Some app or service preventing to go to sleep (for example by having a lock) also keeps the music playing fine.

    • RE: Media playback stops, won't restart

@theare27 I have an opo as well and did never experience this. But I don't use it that much.

You could try to restart media-hub:

      stop media-hub
      start media-hub

Maybe you could also look in some log files like .cache/upstart/media-hub.log or /var/log/syslog.

    • RE: work on media-hub

@manland I am not sure I understand your question. I have a bunch of mp3 and flac files being served by a UPnP Media Server (https://gerbera.io/). I have added embedded album art to these files using an mp3 tag editor (https://www.mp3tag.de/en/).
