@oli.sax I asked regarding this in the "UBports Welcome & Install help [English]" Telegram channel back in April. Someone responded "oh crap i forgot to fix that". I did not follow up as it was not that important to me.

I'm running 24.04-1.x stable. voLTE seems to work. Fingerprint scanner doesn't work, as indicated on the device page. I can't test the camera, since mine is broken. Everything else seems to work. As far as the experience goes, it is a bit sluggish. Battery life has been inconsistent for me in the past. I'll test that out a bit over the coming week (I've just performed a fresh install). Also, the installation process. I installed the required version of Fairphone OS and went through the ubports installer. Going from Fairphone OS -> 24.04 didn't work. It got stuck on the recovery boot stage. Didn't matter if I tried the stable, rc, or dev channel. Same result. However, it works fine if I go from Fairphone OS -> 22.04 -> update to 24.04.

@grenudi Thanks for linking that thread, though I've not had time to read it fully now. I am aware of the Halium approach vs. the mainline Linux approach, and I am somewhat (at least superficially) familiar with the downsides and upsides of each. I will try to read it in its entirety during the week to gain more insights. I am mostly interested in a mainline distro on my phone, but my plan with this second hand device is to familiarize myself with all possibilities available that will run on my device. postmarketOS is what I plan to try after Ubuntu Touch. I've been quite stoked about the recent progress posts on Mastadon by Luca Weiss (and his FOSDEM talk) on getting stuff like the camera and the battery gauge working. I understand these things are not trivial with the locked down mobile chipsets, even for someone directly employed at Fairphone. I'm testing them out in this order in hope of being able to contribute over longer time to testing stuff for postmarketOS.

@Kadafi err, @arubislander asked you to download, while you clicked on 'install'. That's not the same thing and clicking to download allows precisely to test if the mere act of downloading is blocked or if the downloading works fine but UT crashes while installing. Once the file is downloaded (a file with extension of '.click') it's possible to install it by navigating to the folder and selecting it. UT asks you then to open with the store. This separates the 2 operations that the standard store installer bundles into one (for convenience, but it makes debugging more difficult).

Hi @Luksus. I never found the FF3 with UT to be quite snappy enough. The possibility of Waydroid on the FF5 is a major plus. It's disappointing that can't use the higher resolution or 2nd camera.

@whitee5 There is currently no FairPhone 6 port to test. When there is a port to test, you'll see it under porting section of the forum.

It's the beginning of the journey for the FP6 to reach some day the land of UT ️ https://gitlab.com/ubports/porting/reference-device-ports/halium-14/fairphone-6 Don't expect it to be sooner than later
