Call/number blocking wish list

Hello, I'm interested in implementing a system-wide call/number blocking feature (re: https://github.com/ubports/dialer-app/issues/18, https://github.com/ubports/telephony-service/issues/43).

I know what I would like from it:

contacts app integration
call blocking
sms blocking
ability to see history for blocked numbers
ability to easily block a number after the call

But I'd also like to hear what the community wants so I don't miss anything, so let me know.

THIS IS NOT A TOPIC TO ASK FOR PROGRESS, NOR WILL ANY PROGRESS BE SHARED HERE.
Please stay on topic and post what you need from such a functionality. Asking for progress here is pointless - once I have time and have something you will definitely hear about it

But part of my daily job is to connect people so...

@domubpkm Yeah, I know about f-call But this feature should be integrated into the OS though, so that's what I'm going to do. SailfishOS's ofono fork will help a lot.

Glad to see this thread on call blocking! I have a number just endlessly hammering me, so number blocking would be great. But if I had to choose a SINGLE blocking mechanism, it would be to filter out calls/texts unless they're in my phone book. There's so much spam out there, and it's far too easy for them to change their calling number.

I greatly support you in this implementation.

I would like to see a whitelist which allows numbers in Contacts to call & text with notification/sound, and all other numbers to be sent to voicemail, and silenced when texting.

@keneda I've been deep in ofono recently so let's say the force is guiding me pretty well

Amazing if this can come true!

I would also like to be able to let some calls go through when on silent mode. Just like alarm still notifies even on silent mode. Maybe favourites in Contacts.

When I'm away from home working, I would like to be able to activate silent mode in the night and still let my wife and doughter to be able to reach me in case of an emergency. You can do that on Android for example.

Will this be built in the OS or an app? If not an app, how can we contribute with money when it's finished?
