For those interested in activating VoLTE on the Poco X3, here are the steps I followed:

After enabling VoLTE, I noticed errors in the logs related to context 1 of ofono. To address this, I replaced this context with a new APN "Internet & MMS" using the commands available in /usr/share/ofono/scripts/.
I also removed an unused connection using ncli connection.

While I can't guarantee that these modifications are the solution, I haven't encountered any issues since.

It's important to note that after exiting airplane mode, the poco often struggles to reconnect to VoLTE without a reboot.

@Caedem Yes, only what works, this thread will be useful if it makes it easier to choose a suitable device for those who absolutely need VoLTE.

I'm interested in trying this in the USA. I want to be sure of the model of the Note 9 Pro before I buy one. Is it the Global coverage model? I assume unlocked. (I've installed UT on a few phones and so I am experienced with the struggle to get a really unlocked used phone.) The 9S model is different and not working here, right?

I also have observed that, with volte off, phone range icon in indicators bar shows empty when in a call.
With volte on, phone icon shows full.

In both cases call works normally

@libremax VoLTE seems not enabled in my device "merlin" ,Xiaomi Redmi note 9.the slider to switch on VoLTE function not working.Is it possible to enable in merlin or not ?

This issue has to be reported to the porter(s) and/or maintainer(s) of the port.
You can find the gitlab repo on the device's page: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/
Then you can comment or create the issue if it doesn't exist yet.

@Vlad-Nirky I've looked at a number of used phone sales sites and am unable to find a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, that is in reasonable condition, that I could use here in the USA.

@RobTheBold I've tried this phone (Global model) with AT&T, RedPocket (AT&T) and Mint Mobile (T-Mobile). The first two don't work at all. Mint works for voice and SMS but not MMS or data. I'm giving up on this one and returning it to EBay.

I just installed 24.04 stable on Fairphone 5, and although calls worked, mobile data hasn't been. I'll keep you updated if I find any solutions: I'm in the UK with Vodafone as a provider.

I've upgraded my vollaphone 22 to 24.04-1.1 and enabled voLTE, for now everything seems to work as expected with "free mobile" (french provider). The phone stays in LTE while I call, and i can browse the web.

If I see any bug I will get back to you!

Never mind, it seemed to have been a temporary issue thankfully, hopefully it won't bother anyone!

I just got over 250MB a second on the NORD n10 5g with VOLTE ive been hearing news about shutdown of 4g on t-mobile starting next month and only certain 4g devices will run the question would be since I am getting 250 sometimes 500mb would that be stand along 5g and the only reason I am asking is iver heard reports oneplus didnt enable sa in the x51 firmware but feels like im getting standalone speeds I just hope this phone continues to work after the phase out of 4g how much speed do we need LOL!!

If this is not planned obsolescence I don't know what it is.

While in France we still have at least on solid year before 2G disappears, and 3-4 years before 3G disappears!
