Wish list : which apps do you need?
-
A streaming app capable of connecting to several streaming services (spotify, icecast, podcast services, etc.) would be very nice.
Also a browser capable of connecting to sites craving high security (bank service, et all) will be highly appreciated.
-
Webgl, definetely.
It would open the door to all scratch (and any other html5) apps and games -
Request LinPhone (VOIP) App for UBports on Pixel 3a XL. Presently unable to even install via open-store.io or openstore app.
-
Gadgetbridge or alternative (I have a Mi Band 4 currently connected to my old phone)
-
A way to import contacts from everywhere, gmail, SIM card, you name it -that works...
-
Just a reminder in case a developer would like to test his advanced knowledge and would like to help @dobey make this fundamental app InstantPho operational again. Thanks. -
check out Memo for the to do list.
for dark mode, I have some commmands that can be run, if we can get a sudo access type of app, I started trying to make this:
but having problems getting qprocess to use sudo, and not really the best way to do this, but if someone wants to help:
Button { id: button2 objectName: "button" color: UbuntuColors.green anchors { horizontalCenter: parent.horizontalCenter top: button.bottom topMargin: units.gu(2) } width: parent.width text: i18n.tr("disable amplified volume") onClicked: { var popup = PopupUtils.open(passwordPopup) popup.accepted.connect(function(password) { qprocess.start("bash", [ "-c echo" + password + " | sudo -S mirbacklight 0"]) }) `
also have a way to get the lowest possible screen brightness - both run in a safe way that resets when you lock/unlock the screen
-
Apps that I need:
- WhatsApp(I can't get people to use Telegram )
- Discord
- Something for my Galaxy Watch
- Firefox (It is my favourite browser)
- Mail app that feels less fishy?

@domubpkm It's hard to trust. Like Dekko 2 requires me to use my account information inside the app and it still doesn't work after hours of trying. So I had to give up on that.
But maybe that's just me not knowing how mail clients work. I mostly use the browser or the gmail app by google before.
-
@quget It is normally because the account settings security/port wise do not come accross correctly. You need to find a working version of the account settings and check both the incoming and outgoing are correct. Also for Google you need to activate Trust unsecure apps or whatever it's now called in your Google account security settings.
Dekko works well when set up (at least for me) not perfect but works. The other option is to use Webber from the OpenStore and create your own web app. Quite straight forward to use too. -

It's a basis for any mail client to work... If you don't know Thunderbird from Mozilla, it's been used for decade by millions people on PC, try it on yours. After that, you'll be able to configure Dekko like a charm.

@quget have to use 'app passwords'

Ohh I did hear about Thunderbird a long long time ago, but never used it. Might look it up and give it a try.
Thanks for the responses
I will take the fishy part back then.

@quget What is your smartphone?
I personally don't use gmail because it's completely at odds with the spirit of privacy.
But as mentioned, you should be able to set up gmail in dekko.
And at least dekko will be very useful to be notified of mails and read them on it. And maybe answer them but, in my case, dekko is not comfortable to answer mails.
The gmail webapp made with webber might be (or not) more convenient for you to answer mails and the session might stay open, which is convenient. -
@domubpkm I use the Volla phone, I don't mind not getting notified of my e-mails I check them daily anyway
One day I will replace the gmail. Might be a Duck mail in the future!

I use the Volla phone
I too have been using the Volla exclusively as a daily phone for over 4 months and Dekko runs well on it for me.
