No MMS on Vollaphone with Free Mobile ?
-
Help !!!
I just buy a Vollaphone, and I can't receive MMS, but SMS work (my french operator is Freemobile)
Does anybody propose a solution ? Should I complete parameters of connection (APN ?) in my phone ? and how ? Thanks for helping ! -
@maagalie Indeed. MMS settings are not configured by default.
You might go to Free website and check for "mms settings" and than reports the data on your Vollaphone. -
@maagalie Hey ! I also have free mobile and mms work for me. You have to know that if someone sends you a mms while your cellular data is off, you won't receive anything (yet). Make sure before you change APN settings that the issue persists with cellular data on. I have a fairphone 2 so I don't know for the volla, but for me, free mobile apn settings where right from the start.

Thank you very much for your answers, it helped !
Settings of MMS for Free Mobile with Vollapĥone must be completed like that :Nom
FreeNom du point d'accès
mmsfreeMMSC
http://mms.free.frAnd an important detail, it seems that sending/receiving MMS don't work if Wifi is activated
-
Hi and welcom @maagalie
Does it mean that you solved your issue ?BTW I moved the thread to the subforum dedicated to the Vollaphone.
I guess MMS not working when wifi is on is somehow device specific.
If someone can confirm the bug it then shall be reported in the issue tracker... -
@applee So I have just tested MMS with WiFi activated and connected on the Vollaphone.
Test 1: Nexus 5 OTA-15 Stable WiFi on, sending a picture to Vollaphone OTA-15 Stable WiFi on. Result: Succeed
Test 2: Vollaphone OTA-15 Stable WiFi on, sending a picture to Nexus 5 OTA-15 Stable WiFi on. Result: Succeed
Used carrier: Salt (Switzerland) with both devices.
So it seems that it's not a general issue with the Vollaphone.
However, I recognize that there are randomly some troubles using SMS and MMS with the Vollaphone (incoming + outgoing). Only workaround in these cases is to delete the message, reboot phone and try again.
The occurrence of errors is close to 10 to 15% failure rate (regardless of WiFi in all likelihood) hard to say exactly... -
Hi
Thanks for your contributions !
with my french operator Free mobile :
I confirm that I can't send nor receive MMS to myself or to another person Wifi on
But I can perfectly send and receive MMS to myself or to another person Wifi off -
@maagalie Thanks four your input.
Generally Vollaphone is (was?) shipped with OTA-14, which was known to have bugs in the telephony and messaging layers.
Did you update your Vollaphone to OTA-15? -
-
Vollaphone OTA-15 ... I'll wait for further updates !
-
It doesn't seem to work even when Wifi ON but not connected to Wifi at home
-
@maagalie That's really weird. Any other person with a Volla can confirm this ?
-
@Emphrath Hi, I have just configured my volla - i'm also in france, it's bouygues telecom not Free but it seems i was able to send mms even with the wifi activated
-
@marco Hi.
You have a Volla and you say you are able to send MMS with Bouygues now ?
Can you confirm it works now with MMS (not SMS ) ? In what channel does it work ? -
@domubpkm Yes it works with MMS both sending and receiving. I can access my phone at the moment but i'll post the settings as soon as i can

ok so
name: mms
access point name: mmsbougtel.com
mmsc: http://mms.bouyguestelecom.fr/mms/wapenc
proxy: 62.201.129.226
port 8080
no username or passconnection type selected is 4G
cell data on -
@marco Ok. I always used these parameters and it doesn't work for me on the Volla ONLY. Maybe Bouygues has different SIMS using different protocols, and you have a recent SIM ? What do you read (or you can do a screenshot) on your smartphone when you go on this link http://ipv6test.google.com/ ? For me, i don't have Ipv6. Thanks.
-
On test it says:
No problems detected. You don’t have IPv6, but you shouldn’t have problems on websites that add IPv6 support.
As for the sim yes it is super recent, from february

for the sim yes it is super recent,
Okay. At least that's a start.. Something probably changed. I'll try to find an open store (because Covid) and ask around. Thank you.
