Some stuff that can be improved on this Forum :)
-
Does the forum use Discourse? If so stuff like making some buttons more visible can be solved in the theme, which might finally be something I can easily help with, since I'm a front-end dev by day and have experience with Discourse

As a Pi-Hole addict I use Discourse a lot and it's a lot better than the NodeBB software used here!
In fact I think it's perhaps one of the most innovating pieces of forum software I have seen over the last 25 years or so!
-
@keneda Ah well, at least it's not phpBB And themes look pretty easy to do in it.

BTW if you can't do some things here it's because your reputation is not already high enough.
I couldnt find how to increase reputation... There isnt any links on the landing page to guide new users on how use the platforw.

I'm using Firefox ESR -- no issue with the UBports Forum.
I have had problems on firefox on ubuntu. I cant post from there and i couldnt reset my password a while ago. That left me locked out and without any info on how to ask for help to recover my account. Apparently morph on ubuntu touch doest have the same problems.

You build up reputation by posting and getting upvotes on your posts.

I couldn't post because my reputation was too low.

I had that problem when I tried to add some links to my introduction post: I could not post it like that. I had to post without any links.

Since I started this topic many bugs disappeared :
- Editing post works with any browser.
- The Load Balancer Error thingy has disappeared too!
Happy coincidence or not ?!
Something different that bugs me are the notifications :
- You get a notification for every damn little thing that happens in a topic where you posted something ?!
- And if there are multiple and you only click on one then the rest is marked as Read too ?!
- And the layout of the posts now that I think of it : Not enough space between the lines so your post looks very "crowded" even if you add multiple empty lines!
But maybe I will get used to it some day...
-
@nero355
I never had issue editing posts.
And never experienced the load balancer issue too.You can change the settings for notifications.
Yes they disappear because when there is an upvote or a new post in a thread when you read the thread it considers you saw these even if you didn't pay attention to it.For the layout I don't understand ; seems fine for me.
Can you show a screenshot or give us the browser you're using so we can try to reproduce?Edit: Also have you tried the forum's app on Ubuntu Touch devices?
-
Just yesterday I suddenly found out how to add tags to a post!
Took me long enough... -

Do you ever open multiple tabs at once ?
Yes they disappear because when there is an upvote or a new post in a thread when you read the thread it considers you saw these even if you didn't pay attention to it.
Yeah, that! So weird!

Edit: Also have you tried the forum's app on Ubuntu Touch devices?
I am not a big fan of browsing forums on a phone to be honest...
PC/Laptop FTW!!!
/EDIT :
How do I start a topic in the Xiaomi sub-forum ?!
https://forums.ubports.com/category/91/xiaomi

Doesn't show any button to do so ??Open the appropriate subcategory to find the "Start new topic" button at top left.
-
@nero355 Or big blue button New Topic f not related to one of the listed devices.
-
I see one here : https://forums.ubports.com/category/92/xiaomi-mi-a2
But here : https://forums.ubports.com/category/91/xiaomi
There is no button ?!
-
@nero355 It's in the middle of the screen below the three listed phones and before the other threads.

There is no button ?!That is because there is no device called 'xiaomi'. There are specific Xiaomi devices, and they have their own subcategories. You can post in those but not in the 'xiaomi' category which is just a container for the three specific xiaomi subcatregories.
-
@Lakotaubp @Moem about xiaomi subcategory, it lacks a lot of subcategories for xiaomi devices now supported in the ubports devices list.
-
@keneda I will look at that when back properly, hopefully next week at some point. However the devices subcategories will depend on if the devce is in the installer, if the port is ongoing and maintained which is all under review as are a few devices as 20.04 approaches.
There is for now the ability to start a New Topc using the big blue New Topic button in the Xiaomi subforum which @nero355 could use as well if the three existing device subforums are not what they want.
