OTA-25 Call for Testing Companion Post

@spctrl Hello, it has also happened to me in the last three RCs with BQ4.5, which have been released in the last week, that is, 146, 147 and 148 or 2023-W11, 2023-W12 and 2023-W12/2

Sorry for being late to the party, but as others also had booting issues, I felt encouraged to share:
Since the last updates on RC channel (currently 2023-W12/3) my Sony Xperia X Compact (F5321) more often than not won't boot up properly.
Especially when cold booting it often, but not always, shows like this:
Sony boot loader warning → Sony boot logo → Ubuntu Touch boot logo (< 1 s) → black screen
A forced reboot might then work or will also hang at different points (Sony boot logo, black screen, or automatic reboot).I've had boot up issues in the past with this device, but it definitely has gotten worse for me since the new updates.
-
Same here: since the RC updates on Mar 16, then Mar 23 and Mar 26 my bq aquaris m10 hd Ubuntu Edition won't boot properly. It starts booting then seems to stop after the initial splash screen, sometimes after the next splash. Then I have to shut it down and restart. Usually the second time around it will boot properly.
I'm considering switching to stable to see if that fixes the problem. I'll post here if it worked. -
Same kind of issue for MX4.
After automatic reboot for updating on recovery screen, phote rebooted and stayed on white splash "Meizu Powered by Ubuntu" screen.
Forced power off and then powered back on, OS seems working normal. -
@Ællen Switching to stable solved the problem for a day and then it came back. Still/again need 2 attempts to boot the bq cooler.

Same on MX4, cold boot results in stuck on the white bootlogo, forcing shut down and booting a second time works. No problem when rebooting from OS.
Edit : N5 also seems to be affected in a different way.
Sometime after a cold boot i get : bootlogo ("Nexus 5 powered by Ubuntu Touch....") then dark screen for 10 seconds, then bootlogo again, then dark screen, then Ubuntu Touch boots.
Other times i get bootlogo, dark screen, UT boots. -

Confirmed on the BQ4.5, cold start get stuck ( but not always )
-
Confirmed for my BQ 4.5 too : got stuck on the BQ screen then forced restart and it was ok. Two new normal starts to confirm, although the OS seems a little slow to install, but I can't remember if it's normal because I took my (beautiful) BQ 4.5 out of the closet
-
@Keneda I confirm some random bootloops on Nexus 5 during boot (1/2 to 1/3), for about 2 loops, and than Ubuntu Touch finally starts...
OTA-25 Stable

@stanwood
About your signature i'd like to say : if universe was a computer, it would be operated by GNU/Linux -

@cliffcoggin
Yes restart works fine.
It's cold boot that has problem for me and @stanwoodEdit : ok i assumed restart works fine because i had not noticed problem here, but just tested and i got one bootloop and then a normal boot.
-
@stanwood hello, with the BQ M10FHD the same behavior. ( OTA-25 Stable ) Greetings
-
I just retested my BQ E5 HD which had been turned off since yesterday: so, BQ screen, then freezes on black screen. Force restart and this time it's ok.
...I strongly believe that an OTA-26 is needed!! -
@domubpkm
Strange this issue did not come out during RC... -

Strange this issue did not come out during RC...Yes confirmed, when i've updated RC, there where no issues.
idk if any coincidence but there were issues on infrastructure during this time -

@lduboeuf Guess what, I just tried to boot the Cooler and now it's not only stuck in a bootloop, I can't even break the loop with power + volume- which means I can't even shut it down anymore. As a result, I can neither switch to developer mode to flash it with an older build nor can I select the bootloader from the menu because power + volume+ doesn't work.
@Flohack do you have any ideas how to get the tablet to shut down? Currently, I could only hope for the battery to give out. Unfortunately, I can't seem to register a bug, because my atlassian account has no access to ubport's issue tracker.
Maybe BQ devices should be announced as not supported by OTA-25 until the issue is fixed. -
