Hello, I am also looking for the best device for my daily usage. Ideally, I would like to get :

          1. Spectre / Meltdown proof phone
          2. Ubuntu 16.04
          3. Anbox compatible

About criteria #1, I see Nexus 4 and Meizu MX4 are the only immune hardware.
About criteria #2, it seems that they are compatible too
But about criteria #3, it is not so clear, I can read opposite answers here and there. So my questions are :

          • Which phone between Nexus 4 and Meizu MX4 can reach all those criteria ?
          • Are those phones smooth and quick (I mean not so much delay to open an app) ? What about GPS location speed ?

Thank you very much for your kind help.

@prog-amateur Hi the mx 4 in my opinion is abit slow and clunky on mobile data/wifi and is not that future proof and might/struggle with 16.04. I have no experience of nexus 4 so can't comment.
Also try the welcome and install group at https://t.me/WelcomePlus they will have the answers if none appear here.

How did you come up with this fact?

@needforkill Stick with Nexus 5 for the time being. Oneplus 3 should be supported soon enough as Marius said, so that would be a nice upgrade to a much stronger, faster, better device overall.

                          hello guys, I'm new here,
I have a Bq aquaris E4.5 that I bought in February 2015, I was 18 months using Ubuntu phone, it was unstable in updates,

I was already tired and I installed android and I gave it to my daughter , now she has a better phone, so I installed Ubuntu touch of Ub ports, now it is very stable, except for the GPS that does not work well,
I bought a Nexus 5 to install Ubuntu touch and see how it works in general but for my taste it is a phone with little camera, does not have dual SIM, little storage space and lack slot for micro sd,

I would like to know which devices will go ahead in 16:04 version and anbox,
I think Meizu pro 5 is great, although I read here some problems on that device, One plus 3 also seems good phone,
                          greetings ...

                          Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 pro
                          Oneplus Nord 100
                          Xiaomi Redmi Note 7
                          Nexus 5
Bq E4.5 Ubuntu edition .... is dead

@josele13 all the supported devices (http://ubuntu-touch.io/devices) will get 16.04 but not all of them have the same hardware so we'll see which one can run anbox.

As you say, there will be more devices ported to 16.04 than those in that list, but none have been officially announced yet.

@hummlbach because you cannot hear the other person on the outer side after you pair a bluetooth. Pairing works for music but not for calls

@hummlbach Can't hear the other person due the noise and cracking sound, the music works fine.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I have also found, thanks to @libremax that the Meizu MX4 is affected because of the ARM Cortex A17. It is too bad that only some BQ are not exposed to Meltdown/Spectre. I think, it should be nice to aim another A53 smartphone to ensure privacy and safety.

                                        @flohack Source was from https://www.techarp.com/guides/complete-meltdown-spectre-cpu-list/4/
I have concluded that only MX4 and Nexus 4 are affected.

However, I didn't know that the MX4 was affected and probably the Nexus 4. It means, almost all core smartphones compatible with UBports are affected by Meltdown/Spectre (it is a big concern). I hope another A53 smartphone will be in the core list in the future, despite the fact that I know it is far from easy to port UBports on new devices.

By the way, it seems that Snapdragon 400 is made with 4x ARM Cortex-A7. Could somebody confirm it ? Because, it would mean that Moto G 2014 can be not affected. Thank you. Source : https://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g_2014-review-1139p5.php
