RE: While VoLTE is a worry, video calling working is actually a BIG DEAL
@totalrando Google Voice works on my P2XL.
We are working on a sip solution to stand in for VoLTE. We've had some good progress this week.

@Andrisk Sounds like it got stuck on the update. Try this https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=10130

RE: USA carrier
Verizon VoLTE will work (ONLY) with the Pinephone/pro
For everything else, as others have said, until VoLTE gets worked out T-mobile and associated MVNOs are best. I've used Mint, Red Pocket, US Mobile. All worked fine.

RE: Replacement Batteries
For Nexus 5 PolarCell.
I've put a lot of work into it, and other than doing the Nexus 5X battery mod, no battery works better.

RE: Nexus 5 vs Nexus 5x
@jjconstr The Nexus 5 is a great phone, soon to be better with a halium upgrade. The main complaint about it is finding a good replacement battery. I've tried a couple and found the best battery is from a German company - PolarCell Battery for LG Google Nexus 5 D821 D820 BL-T9 EAC62078701 2450mAh. It is available on eBay if you are not in the EU.
It's a good quality after market - which means new, not old stock sitting on a shelf for half a decade, nor is it a cheap knock off rebranded. I've had it for a year now and still holds a full charge just like it used to when I bought the phone from Google.

RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 69 This Saturday 8th Of February At 19:00 UTC
Would it be possible to incorporate a Swype style keyboard action or hand writing recognition into Ubuntu Touch?

RE: PineTab
@GizmoChicken Pine64 forum says LTE with GPS optional if using EG25 module that is in the Pinephone - using the expansion board they have made.
I do hope they recommend the best place in the case to place the antennas.

RE: Status of videochat in UT
Maybe some of these ideas will help?

Apparently there is a group already working on a solution to access the camera from the android HAL and present it to Linux:
"provides a set of interfaces to libcamera for existing applications; they will include a V4L compatibility layer, an Android HAL interface, and a GStreamer interface. The intent is to make libcamera suitable for all Linux-based devices." https://lwn.net/Articles/794555/

RE: Nord N10 lito - what is this, and is it supported?
@turtle_racer That's the thing, this user gets approved, other users have not. Some have applied again and been approved after being denied. This is for N10 only as all N100s can be unlocked without token just by flashing the global ROM. That is not the case with the N10.
There is no consistency as to who gets approved and who does not. So, we just recommend the BE2026 variation which does not require a token.
I think OP10 and after, they will refuse to unlock, period.

RE: Nord N10 lito - what is this, and is it supported?
@linl Also, how did you get it boot loader unlocked? - Requesting a token from OnePlus? We have several people who cannot get their Metro/T-mobile model unlocked and we are still trying to find a work around and what works.

RE: Nord N10 lito - what is this, and is it supported?
@linl First, is it boot loader unlocked? If not, where did you buy it? If eBay, please see the N10 section of the forum. We've had trouble with oneplus refusing to provide a token for Metro/T-Mobile N10s. (Edit - I see you say it's boot loader unlocked)
The ROMs provided on the devices page are the correct ROM, but, there is a procedure you need to apply to convert the BE2028 to the global ROM. See the N10 forum. It requires swapping files from a BE2028 ROM with the same files in the global ROM and repackaging, then flashing the patched ROM via EDL

@linl please verify in fastboot what model you have and which OS package you downloaded from the UT devices page.

RE: VoLTE on Pixel 3a working on Verizon (US)
Actually, this is phenomenal. Can you join us on Telegram?
We have two groups that could use this - the p3a group and the NA Issues group. I have forwarded this to both.
Would love to have more details about what you did to achieve this...

RE: Trying to return Pixel 3a to stock firmware
@AntiMS The experimental Halium 12 build has two reports of succesfull VoLTE - both originating and receiving (non US), and several one way only calls with or without audio. I personally have tried it with all three US networks. Verizon has trouble, but with both T-Mobile and AT&T networks you can receive calls with audio in both directions. However, making a call fails and the dialer hangs. Logs were sent to the porter, and it is suspected that this is an ipv6 vs ipv4 issue.
We can help you more efficiently if you join the ubports NA Issues Telegram channel.

RE: Trying to return Pixel 3a to stock firmware
@AntiMS Boot into UT recovery. Enable adb, then either flash with the Google web recovery installer, or manually with whichever Google factory image you desire.

RE: Unlocking did not unlock Critical Partition
@UT-downunder Windows, yes. Linux users have gotten it to work either using a VM (requires a VM with USB port pass through. Some work, some don't), or by installing Windows to Go on a USB drive. Alternatively, there is a way to do it in linux somewhere in the ubPorts OP6 forum, but I haven't used it in years (I use Windows To Go on a USB SSD-Transend thumb drive SSD). Or just borrow someone's machine for a few.
