RE: While VoLTE is a worry, video calling working is actually a BIG DEAL
@totalrando Google Voice works on my P2XL.
We are working on a sip solution to stand in for VoLTE. We've had some good progress this week.

RE: PinePhone
@Andrisk Sounds like it got stuck on the update. Try this https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=10130

RE: USA carrier
Verizon VoLTE will work (ONLY) with the Pinephone/pro
For everything else, as others have said, until VoLTE gets worked out T-mobile and associated MVNOs are best. I've used Mint, Red Pocket, US Mobile. All worked fine.

RE: Replacement Batteries
For Nexus 5 PolarCell.
I've put a lot of work into it, and other than doing the Nexus 5X battery mod, no battery works better.

RE: Nexus 5 vs Nexus 5x
@jjconstr The Nexus 5 is a great phone, soon to be better with a halium upgrade. The main complaint about it is finding a good replacement battery. I've tried a couple and found the best battery is from a German company - PolarCell Battery for LG Google Nexus 5 D821 D820 BL-T9 EAC62078701 2450mAh. It is available on eBay if you are not in the EU.
It's a good quality after market - which means new, not old stock sitting on a shelf for half a decade, nor is it a cheap knock off rebranded. I've had it for a year now and still holds a full charge just like it used to when I bought the phone from Google.

RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 69 This Saturday 8th Of February At 19:00 UTC
Would it be possible to incorporate a Swype style keyboard action or hand writing recognition into Ubuntu Touch?

RE: PineTab
@GizmoChicken Pine64 forum says LTE with GPS optional if using EG25 module that is in the Pinephone - using the expansion board they have made.
I do hope they recommend the best place in the case to place the antennas.

RE: Status of videochat in UT
Maybe some of these ideas will help?

Apparently there is a group already working on a solution to access the camera from the android HAL and present it to Linux:
"provides a set of interfaces to libcamera for existing applications; they will include a V4L compatibility layer, an Android HAL interface, and a GStreamer interface. The intent is to make libcamera suitable for all Linux-based devices." https://lwn.net/Articles/794555/

RE: 6t and 20.04 stability
@tidip No, that does not normally happen. If a call fails, the dialer just hangs at most, not reboot.
There is an upgraded port coming soon that has 24.04 and VoLTE. You might want to wait for that.
Is your battery in good health?

RE: trouble unlocking Oneplus Nord N10 5G phone
@shengchieh Wish that last image was in focus. I'm suspecting you do not have the correct ROM on your device.
I would suggest getting the global ROM package Ruben specifies on the UT devices page and flash it using EDL mode and MSMdownloadTool. Then try again because you are following the steps correctly.
Just FYI, it's easier to help you via the N. American Issues UT Telegram group.

RE: One Plus Nord N10 5G Information
@oldbutndy Google has not released control of RCS enough for us to do anything with it. There is a $10k+ bounty out for whomever first achieves it.
VoWiFi works by signaling over the VoLTE carrier channel to use the data channel (WiFi) for the voice part and not the carrier channel (audio can be sent via either channel). We need a button and a hook in halium to manually turn that on. There has been one report of a person who set that on in android and it remained after flashing UT. But that has not been confirmed by others. It could be it just does it without needing a button if it was already enabled, but we do not know.

RE: trouble unlocking Oneplus Nord N10 5G phone
@shengchieh Are you booting to fastboot where the phone just shows the select English or Chinese option? Or are you getting to the multicolored text only screen that says fastboot and other info? If you are not seeing that text filled screen on the phone, then on the computer try the comand: fastboot reboot fastboot.

RE: Google Pixel 6 port: device donation
Just FYI, there is a new 24.04 port in progress for OP6/6T. The porter says it is almost ready. Ports for Pixel 4 and 6 were never finished.
There is also a new halium 12 port in progress for p3a. You can test it now. Instructions are here in the forum.

RE: trouble unlocking Oneplus Nord N10 5G phone
@shengchieh
On Computer input adb reboot fastbootIn fastboot menu on phone select English or Chinese
Select advanced reboot to fastboot. You should see original fastboot menu, not fastboot2 on the phone.
On computer, enter fastboot flashing unlock. It will either prompt you for a token, or ask you to select yes to unlock.

RE: Installation to Google Pixel 3a XL
Consider testing out the new halium 12 port with VoLTE. Need more testers to work out the bugs.

RE: What do you use to root Oneplus Nord N10? SuperSU, Magisk, or something else?
OnePlus phones are very hard to brick. They can be recovered using the msmDownloadtool usually included with the image on the UT device's webpage. If it isn't, xda-developers has them, for every OnePlus model.
