    • Best way to move bookmarks and telephone-book ??

      in the Q&A it was mentioned/idea from @Flohack to create an backup-solution for the phones.
      i tried out the manual operation handwork way. ( much typing 😞 but its seems to work )
      After more and less luck i was able to find and import my bookmarks and telephone-book from
      the old phone to the new-one. (Terminal App / )

      ##_ Bookmarks _###################

      1. Export bookmarks from old device.
      The bookmarks are stored in
      "/home/phablet/.local/share/webbrowser-app/bookmarks.sqlite "
      My usb-sticks destination-folder is mounted in
      /media/phablet/my_usbstick/backup20170604/
      So i fired up
      phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ cp /home/phablet/.local/share/webbrowser-app/bookmarks.sqlite /media/phablet/my_usbstick/backup20170604/

      (now the same procedure backwards)

      2. Import/migrate bookmarks to new awesome Ubport-Phone
      phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ cp /media/phablet/my_usbstick/backup20170604/bookmarks.sqlite /home/phablet/.local/share/webbrowser-app/

      ##_ mobile phone book _###################

      3. Export mobile-phone-book from old device
      The mobile-phone-book are stored in
      "/home/phablet/.local/share/evolution/addressbook/system/contacts.db"
      My usb-sticks destination-folder is mounted in
      /media/phablet/my_usbstick/backup20170604/
      So i fired up
      phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ cp /home/phablet/.local/share/evolution/addressbook/system/contacts.db /media/phablet/my_usbstick/backup20170604/

      (now the same procedure backwards)

      4. Import mobile-phone-book to new awesome Ubport-Phone
      phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ cp /media/phablet/my_usbstick/backup20170604/contacts.db /home/phablet/.local/share/evolution/addressbook/system/

      5. reboot the phone
      after this, the copied telephone-numbers are visible in the mobile-phone-book

      ############################

      Another possibility by the Grapical-GUI the File-Manger/Browser-App.
      are there better ways/ suggestions ? ( Ok i know @Flohacks backup-project )

      Good luck everyone!

      @wgarcia

      i would not worry about this, there are only a handfull people to support webpages and coding.
      The "sudo-shutdown -h -canonical" was very surprising for all of us. but this is only my oppinion and i can be wrong 😉
      i think we ask together this ...
      Question 1. --> see @wgarcia
      Question 2. --> is the "magic-device-tool" able to work without canonical servers ? sorry i am new here so i create strange questions, feel free to smile about this. i wonder why ubuntu phone has not a "etc/../sources.list"?

      @mindaugasdi
      i think this would be a way to make the terms of rights thing transparent ( big storry copyright) there it would probably only go with a litte red-tape-buerocracy. gnu open source works only with respect for the other companys and there properitary code. in this case the collaboration-platform would bring more structure in this i think...my feeling

    • RE: Welcome to the UBports community! Introduce yourself here!

      Greetings to All

      I own an Aquarius E5 HD, bought it for simple calling, reading and writing text with nano and coding with python.
      Calling a friend without a intermission from some android-app.
      To have a little more controll about that, what the apps are doing. ( Its a lot of "KISS -Keep it Simple and Stupid" that i like on the "UbuntuPhone")
      I like your "we make it go" spirit and wish you the best for the future. (Dont lose hope, the interesting part is now starting 😉
      To me:
      linux-newbie (More Debian former Ubuntu-user)

    • RE: What is your main points for a perfect personal phone operative system?

      @bluexxx
      yes and for me develope please a microwave-heater function for the coffee-mug ... dont panic! radiation makes smart 🙂 a lot of superheroes where born with it...joke... no really there are a lot of testings by factories and goverments about the radiation-story. if it would be a powerfull electric magnetic radiation.... you would see it... the battery would not survive a minute 🙂 because radiotation needs a energysource...and by now the mobile-phones have not enugh power in the battery to cook your head. 🙂 i have a simple microwave-broadband- measurement-device from the grocery-store ....there was silence and never a allert by mobile-phone-antennas .

      @UKPhil @te-online
      mmmmm i fully agree with a realistic way of productivity. if the mobile-device would be 100% pure linux to the core, it is a noble ambition. but there are not enough codewriter to fix this. i can be wrong and i hope that pure librem had a great success. but its mostly the usabilty of a device-os, thats let grow a big comunity.
      on one hand we have only a few codewriter ( me as example bloody newcomer) on the other hand we have a lot of work to do that the ubports-os stay alive with new hardware, browser-compatibiliy, new harder specifications of firewalls, ssl-protocols, android/libhybris.....
      whatsapp is a big thing. stupid question: why is it not possible to send wahtsapps to telegram and backwards?

      on amd64 (standard pc) and raspberry
      i would test [teamviewer](https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/How-do-I-install-TeamViewer-on-my-Linux-distribution/ta-p/4351#toc-hId-764334519 url)

      i testet it by install the teamviewer-host.deb for raspbian to bq5..pushing the teamviewer- daemon to run...and than run the teamviewer setup...but..no internet-connection was found by the teamviewer-host so..... i try gurus way.
      for me it was fun to see that the teamviewer runs ...not the big solution...trying 🙂

      are there any suggestions in the ubports-verse about this ? ( are there a migthy one how have expierience with teamviewer on ubport-touch???)

      to your topic printing-work by canonical/ota3?......for me, pdf printing is all i need 🙂
      is there a reference- printer to deal with?
      i only ask because working with printer-drivers is often a neverending story. or would we send in future printjobs by this way over halium/googleprint? so the workload on drivers could, maybee be outsourced to company google/googleprint.

      @Lakota your right. thats realy important.a bigger fanbase of a phone makes it easier to find and convince people to use community-driven ubport-images. i hope that the most people like
      not-so-expensive-phones more 😉 only for fairphone i would spend more money ( open source and development )
