It will be great if you could "generate" web app from the browser on your UT. It will be kinda like bookmark on steroids.

RE: New Launcher, edge channel.
I don't know who desing the new launcher, but you sir are my hero. On thing that I love about UT is that android and ios feels exactly the same to me and UT with all the swipe gesture brought a new view on phone UI that I love it. And gettng ride of the 'home' screen and having a app drawer like that is the best desing I ever used.
I know some ppl don't like it but I hope if we make change it will be in the form of configuration and not removing this desing.
I switch to edge on my main device just for this feature and I dont regret it!

RE: Ubuntu for mobile devices post mortem analysis by Simon Raffeiner
First, super nice article. I think we should realy think about it and try no to make the same mistake.
Second, for the question that was ask on this forum about the perfect device I think this article bring many important aspect.1. It didn’t target a profitable niche.
Nothing to do about it?2. The user experience was bad and priorities skewed.
I never had a device that I liked so much to use.
But yeah for the glitche part I can undersand and I never recomened this device for someone who need a reliable device.
I also agree with the scoop part. Kind of a lot a work that seems to have gone nowhere, specialy for the desktop part.3. The devices were hard to get and didn’t deliver
I'm a linux fan. I don't care about flashing my device. But for general public rooting devices is the root of all evil. So yeah I agree with this part. But I think it's okay for UBports not to focus this righ now.5. There was too much focus on technical features the users and app developers didn’t care about.
I agree. But to my knowledge we are "switching" mir for wayland and thinking of a solution for background app so: Good job guys on this one!6. The life of an app developer was too hard.
Yes!! and still is! I mean, I get that QQC1 was not a good solution back then. But now it should change and please don't make an obsure solution like Conanical did. Where you need a special IDE, a special UITK and weird build system.
That being say, for now I don't feel like the app dev is left aside, I feel more like it's usless to focus on it if the platform is not stable enough. But when it will be the time please just make QQC2 with a style.7. It wasn’t as open and community-driven as intended.
For this point I have to give a huge tumbs up to the UBports community. I think we've hit the right spot! If their is one good thing that we got out of Conanical droping the project, it's that now it's a true community-driven project!Over all event if it's sad Conanical is gone with all the budget and man power, I still think the "new" direction this project is taking is WAY better!

@jezek omg thanks, I switched from ubuntu to arch 4 years ago and totaly forgot about the need of apt update XD That was the missing step now all is good!

Convergence
I just got my slimport cable, and despite the issues, It. Is. AMAZING!
I'm on devel chanel right now and I past a couple hours playing around with it on desktop mode and I wanted to say how nice it is! My personal workflow include email, youtube and remote dev through ssh with vim/tmux so nothing that the UT phone can't do.
Can't wait for the nexdock so that I can replace my laptop XD

RE: UBports Community Q&A: Saturday, May 27, 2017
First just wanted to say good job for taking back the project. You've done a great job! Keep up the good work! Also, thanks for doing Q&A and having a telegram group, make the UT community feel alive! Now some questions :
1 - Is there a road map coming?
2 - What are the plan for app development? Like update on tools and walkthrough to make app.
3 - I don't use Ubuntu for my desktop anymore (I use arch) is there anyway to make UT app on something else than Ubuntu?
4 - If I have suggestion/request, not a bug report, is there a place where I can give it?
5 - As someone who use the UT terminal a lot, how the apt repository work? (who is the owner, how do I add package to it, need to be compile for ARM.) And is there any plan to change it in the future? -
RE: [Discussion] File Manager improvements
I like consistancy, so in UT whene I have a list view, I like to swipe right for quick delete and swipe left for other quick action.
From there build the features you want in the order you want as long as you keep this nice consistancy list view desing of the UT. -
RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 51 Saturday 1st Of June At 19:00 UTC
On the last Q&A you talk about an issues because we don't use systemd. As most system are switching to systemd, is there any plan/advantage to switch to it?

RE: Branding UBports: OS name / Project Logo / Project Name
Conanical announc that they were "Killing" the project, so to me it will be good to find a new name so this project is not associat with a dead one. Also generally when you fork something you found it a new name!
For the logo I got no probleme with the UBports' one. But I generally think linux is miss some Tux. Should have more Tux.
For the logo and the name I don't think we should keep an unbuntu thing.
Also I found this to help XD

PinePhone dual screen issue
When connecting my pinephone to an external monitor the primary screen vs the touch pad screen are revers. Unity appears on my phone and the touchpad/keyboard on the external monitor. The issue seems to be in Lomiri. I tried to fix the issue myself but I'm not sure how do build/test such a thing. Is there a tutorial/doc on how to build and test modification on Lomiri for PinePhone?

RE: Terminal closes SSH session upon changing app
@scottbouch You can use UT Tweak Tool and prevent suspension of the terminal app. This will stop ssh session from being closes.

RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A Saturday 4th Of April At 19:00 UTC
I know we currently don't use systemd. But do you guys have an opinion on using systemd-homed for the phone? Do you think it would add value to it and you it increase it security the way it can encrypt the home folder?

Domotic recomendation
I'm currently looking into makeing my home smarter. I saw that UT was supporting Domoticz and nymea. Both look nice. I was wondering if people had feedback on those two.
Also is there any recomendation on smart devices company/protocol? The more opensource and secure, the better. Personaly I don't want any thing like alexa or google home stuff I want domotic but without internet.

REST api, help offer
I was looking into trying some new REST api tools. So I was wondering if there was any REST api made by the UT community that I could help on.( or one that works fine but could still use some improvement)

Plugin applications
I had this idea that I wanted to share about having "plugin" application. That would allow your app settings to be in the UT settings. That would give a better feeling of integration to the platforme. For example, the indicator weather app could have no "useless" app in the drawer and only be setup through the setting app. Or an application like the vpn editor could just remove the vpn section in the settings and replace it so you don't have two vpn setting with one being "useless".

RE: Convergence
@3arn0wl the keybord bukey wasn't working indeed. I was using a bluethoot keybord.

RE: Convergence
@kugiigi yes I did need to restart unity, but for scaling you need too anyway so I connect, change the scaling and restart once.
-
RE: Convergence
I suggest using UT tweak Tool and dropping the Scaling all the way down to 6. It's not flawless but it makes it usable. Beware to rest it before going back to a phone.
