@emmelyne said in BQ M10 FHD bricked upon UBport install?:

@freebobjohn I have exactly the same issue with my BQ M10 FHD!
Did you find a way to install UBports till december? Thanks, Emmelyne

Use bq flash tool to install old UT and when that is flashed succesfully then go for UB installer.

Sailfish is also going to be available with multiple Sony devices. Maybe Sony is the way to go with UB too?

    • RE: BQ Aquaris M10 FHD

Flashing can be a bitch, but if everything else fails you can flash it with Ubuntu version and then UBports flash should work just fine with: Install using system-image server

M10 is pretty old tablet and not worth the 269€ price unless you get sweat deal of it. 100€ would be justified.

How about that unwanted boot, when you plug it in charger?

So, does the OTA2 fix any of the problems (boot delay, boot when plugged to charger)?

@UKPhil said in Unable to install UBPorts on bq M10:

@abernator Thanks for this, so the only way to install UBPorts on my M10 is to re-install the latest version of UT and then try to install UBPorts from there.

This seems to be a long way around when the device is not found.

You could try to perform just format with bq tool if that helps. There is clear cache in fastboot mode also, but not sure if that is the same thing. At some installation i couldn't get it to flash until i performed format.

@UKPhil said in Unable to install UBPorts on bq M10:

@Marathon2422 Looking at the links that you have supplied, does the device need to be unlocked, or is this just Andtiod?

You unlock the device by typing:
      fastboot oem unlock

Unlock makes it go to orange state.

Perhaps you could try to do this:

@jamesp said in Can't get the M10 FHD to take the flash:

Solved the problem by installing latest bq UT with bq:s own flash tool. After that i enabled developer mode and UBports installer detected M10 and this time it started installing it and got to the last point where it was supposed to flash device, but yet again was stuck with "installing Ubuntu update"

But then in bootloader i gave the old command:

      sudo ubuntu-device-flash --server=http://system-image.ubports.com touch --device=frieza
      --channel=15.04/stable --bootstrap --recovery-image=recovery-frieza.img

And UBports finally installed to M10 succesfully.

Here you can download bq firmware and if you don't have Ubuntu version use code: ML000555 to download it.

      http://www.mibqyyo.com/en-download/categorias/aquaris-m10-fhd-ubuntu-edition/

But all is not well! There still is this weird ~3min delay with the splash screen before UBports boots? bq ubuntu booted instantly. Is this a bug in UBports firmware or are there still some weird issues with my M10? Everything else seems to work just fine.

But i would recommend to postpone UBports installation to M10 until those super annoying bugs are fixed.

      (data transfer failure (Protocol error))

Protocol error suggests that something is wrong with your USB ports or cable. Is it USB 2 or USB 3? If it is USB 3 (or 1) then that may be your problem. Try using USB 2 ports or different computer and cable.

It shows 1% of the time? Maybe your phones connector is broken.

What does lsusb list when phone is hooked in PC?

Have you tried to reset phone settings?

This is your third thread of the subject!

Have you tried both methods available to your phone?

Have you enabled developer mode in your phone?

Is your cable data cable or just for charging?

      Thanks for the replies.
No Logo on start up and still OTA15 so I am still on the old Ubuntu Touch I guess.
Maybe I'll try using a Windows computer instead unless anyone can tell me how to get my Ubuntu 17:04 to mount my phone.

      Try the other method.

    • RE: OTA 3 suggestions: your wanted features

Tweak wifi refresh interwall. Default setting is ~2mins like in PC Ubuntu and you get to connect wifi faster by turning it off and on again. 30sec would be ideal.

Also when you receive SMS or any other notification you shouĺd see that tab first when you pull it down.

Remove that annoying "SD card found" notification when you boot up.

These are small fixes that shouldn't be too much of a task to do, and i think many would agree with me.

Fairphone 2 now has new camera upgrade available and comes with next batch of phones, but it probably is not compatible with current version of UT?

    • Sony Xperia X port? (Works with Sailfish)

Jolla is using Sony Xperia X as their reference device. Could that be easily ported to UBports also?

      https://blog.jolla.com/sailfishx/

As i have understand, they have some kind of pact with Sony and are about to convert more Sony phones in the future.

As long as it takes. Admin(s) of this forum is quite ridiculous.

BT with Pioneer car stereo sometimes requires BT restart in tablet when using it with M10 FHD. It connects, but audio does not go through. Also connection time is pretty long ~10s.
