Good idea, I've noticed it too, not sure how easy it would be to fix but it would definitely make sense!

@Vulpex Sure, because restarting Lomiri would clear up a lot of stuff, no true reboot would be needed most of the time.

@arubislander said in split dns/routing for personal vpn: @gandalf Not sure about any answer to your questions, but I would suggest you research if what you want is possible on Ubuntu Desktop with NetworManager. If it is, then teh same setup should be transferable to Ubuntu Touch, as the VPN technology used is the same. Thanks for the suggestions. I've set up openvpn and the import in UT worked without troubles. Split dns works quite well; the openvpn server needs to push the default domain (eg. mylan for any server.mylan to work). In the vpn settings on UT select "Use this VPN for: [ x ] Its own network it also works in combination with the wifi hotspot (FP4), I can access my server by its domain without any changes to the laptop network settings. tbd: keep alive, auto-reconnect, and maybe a kill switch for the local domain

Bluetooth on Focal a UT problem. I had this with a Pioneer digital radio. A developer told me to re-pair it several times. The theater was too weird for me which is why I uninstalled. What you can try is to delete the headphones once and pair them again. Calls were established but there was no sound and the described lost Bluetooth signal.

@kugiigi correct, the pin entry does not need any confirmation after enough digits are entered. So once the screen is on any random touches on the numpad will lead to a string of login attempts. @lduboeuf I have both the greeter and the launcher disabled. it's possible that I failed to enter the pin on the full keyboard as I was a bit rushed. In any case, given that the bootloader needs to stay unlocked and UT not does support encrypting the home partition(?), I don't think the possible limit bypass by pulling the battery is a large security issue, but it was also not the expected behaviour

@gandalf said in backups?: Hi all Simple question spoilered by the title: What's the current state for backups on Focal? Are there any backup utilities available, and if not, what parts need to be backed up besides the obvious docs/pictures/etc folders? cheers @fredldotme is working on it

@gandalf Best action for now is to log a feature request in the repo I think QR reading also needa to imrpove in UT. Apps that has it don't read QR codes that well. There's a built in QR code reader in focal though so maybe it'll improve. Apps can also maybe use it to scan codes instead of implementing within the app.

@kugiigi I think it's the same issue as this old bug report: https://gitlab.com/myii/ut-tweak-tool/-/issues/32 instead of copying an old value over this time the default for the device changed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@arubislander unfortunate, but no surprise there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I installed UT20.04 on my Fairphone 4 (which is waiting for waydroid for me to make the switch) and that works for music. Even BT multipoint works between the Momentum 4, FP4, and an ubuntu laptop :party_popper:. not sure yet about calls on any of them. @muskist No, it clearly identifies the headphones as "MOMENTUM 4" and claims to be connected, but without signal strength @RedXXIII I don't have any other bluetooth devices to test this with, but at least I can confirm music working on a FP4/UT20.04.

I nearly forgot that I posted this already as I didn't use the hotspot recently... @Luksus @kugiigi Thanks for both hints to restart Unity through the UTT and flight mode. It looks like my observation about the restart of Unity was a bit backwards. Restarting Unity enables the hotspot indicator, but turns off the hotspot immediately oO In any case I can now disable the hotspot and get the wifi back. @domubpkm can confirm the micro shenanigans. After a successful call the mic won't work in waydroid/whatsapp until I reboot. luckily I don't do that many calls either way For the camera disabling and enabling the permission worked for me so far in all instances of that happening.
