@Flohack Indeed, after the recent testing update, the unwanted unstable one has gone.

RE: Delete unapplied update
@Rondarius said in Delete unapplied update:
Open settings/Updates, swipe the unapplied update to the right, hit the trashbin and it is gone.
I think that will only work for app updates, at any rate when I try to swipe it to the right, there is no waste bin.

Delete unapplied update
A little while ago I downgraded my second Nexus 4 from the Development channel to the RC channel.
The process was basically seamless apart from one thing:
There was an OTA update for Ubuntu Touch on the Dev channel that downloaded automatically, but which I did not apply. That update is now just sitting there and (presumably) uninstallable, since it is an update to a version that is not installed. So: is there a way to delete it? The UT Tweak app that allowed other incompatibilities to be resolved doesn't offer any help. I'd be quite happy to dig in with the file manager if I knew where to look.

RE: How to remove incompatible app (Recorder)
@Lakotaubp Thanks, that did the job.

How to remove incompatible app (Recorder)
My phone (Nexus 4, RC channel -- downgraded from development) still has the original (DawnDiY) Recorder app installed, which according to OpenStore is incompatible with my system.
However when I tap the "Remove" button or the bin icon, it pops up a dialogue, and then if I select "remove" it just goes back to showing the app page with the "Remove" option and does nothing.
Is it possible to remove the app some other way (e.g. file manager and delete all the relevant files)?

RE: Nexus 4 issues.
@dobey — Spot on, I installed Finger Painting and there's a column about 1/3 in from the RHS, and about 3/8 inch wide where the paint brush does nothing.

RE: Nexus 4 issues.
@Lakotaubp: Thanks for the suggestions.
I do have another N4 somewhere with the Development channel installed, so provided it's not too out-of-date to update properly I'll give that a try over the weekend as well. -
Nexus 4 issues.
I've recently been seeing a couple of issues on my Nexus 4 that may or may not be connected.
First: I can only flip between apps, the "card stack" that allows me to close an app by dragging it to the bottom of the screen does not appear to be accessible.
Second: When I try to drag the phone slider to the "accept" side to answer an incoming call, it does not register and just bounces back to the centre.
I am running the stable 16.04, OTA-11 image.
Has anyone else seen similar issues? While I am a very light phone user I think that it has worked properly since the OTA-11 update (installed 3 Nov last year), and the problems have only arisen in the last two to three weeks. -
RE: Can't install on Nexus 4 that has Ubuntu touch
Problem solved. It was nothing to do with the phone or the installer! It was an unstable USB connection!

RE: Can't install on Nexus 4 that has Ubuntu touch
Sorry, I didn't make it clear -- the old device doesn't have Ubports, it currently has Canonical's Ubuntu Touch, and my understanding was that the Ubports update system doesn't support upgrades from the Canonical base.

Can't install on Nexus 4 that has Ubuntu touch
Having successfully installed ubports (15.04 stable) on a "new" Nexus 4, and transferred everything useful, I figured it would be good to put a newer version on my old device, so I selected 16.04rc as the version to install.
However when I run the installer, I get an error about a failed adb push (see below)
{"message":"Command failed: adb -P 5038 push \"/home/james/.cache/ubports/pool/ubports-f2bcfd75eb7d6fc4fce749774ed6338f84de3fc19bac8e03147e2d39a2596c99.tar.xz\" /cache/recovery/\n","stack":"Error: Command failed: adb -P 5038 push \"/home/james/.cache/ubports/pool/ubports-f2bcfd75eb7d6fc4fce749774ed6338f84de3fc19bac8e03147e2d39a2596c99.tar.xz\" /cache/recovery/\n\n at ChildProcess.exithandler (child_process.js:282:12)\n at emitTwo (events.js:125:13)\n at ChildProcess.emit (events.js:213:7)\n at maybeClose (internal/child_process.js:921:16)\n at Socket.stream.socket.on (internal/child_process.js:348:11)\n at emitOne (events.js:115:13)\n at Socket.emit (events.js:210:7)\n at Pipe._handle.close [as _onclose] (net.js:549:12)","killed":false,"code":1,"signal":null,"cmd":"adb -P 5038 push \"/home/james/.cache/ubports/pool/ubports-f2bcfd75eb7d6fc4fce749774ed6338f84de3fc19bac8e03147e2d39a2596c99.tar.xz\" /cache/recovery/","level":"debug","timestamp":"2018-10-10T19:47:56.306Z"}{"level":"error","message":"Devices: Error: Adb push error: ","timestamp":"2018-10-10T19:47:56.317Z"} {"level":"error","message":"Devices: Adb push error: ","timestamp":"2018-10-10T19:47:56.317Z"} {"level":"debug","message":"Running platform tool exec cmd adb -P 5038 shell stat -t /cache/recovery//ubports-f2bcfd75eb7d6fc4fce749774ed6338f84de3fc19bac8e03147e2d39a2596c99.tar.xz","timestamp":"2018-10-10T19:47:57.353Z"} {"message":"Command failed: adb -P 5038 shell stat -t /cache/recovery//ubports-f2bcfd75eb7d6fc4fce749774ed6338f84de3fc19bac8e03147e2d39a2596c99.tar.xz\nerror: no devices/emulators found\n","stack":"Error: Command failed: adb -P 5038 shell stat -t /cache/recovery//ubports-f2bcfd75eb7d6fc4fce749774ed6338f84de3fc19bac8e03147e2d39a2596c99.tar.xz\nerror: no devices/emulators found\n\n at ChildProcess.exithandler (child_process.js:282:12)\n at emitTwo (events.js:125:13)\n at ChildProcess.emit (events.js:213:7)\n at maybeClose (internal/child_process.js:921:16)\n at Socket.stream.socket.on (internal/child_process.js:348:11)\n at emitOne (events.js:115:13)\n at Socket.emit (events.js:210:7)\n at Pipe._handle.close [as _onclose] (net.js:549:12)","killed":false,"code":1,"signal":null,"cmd":"adb -P 5038 shell stat -t /cache/recovery//ubports-f2bcfd75eb7d6fc4fce749774ed6338f84de3fc19bac8e03147e2d39a2596c99.tar.xz","level":"debug","timestamp":"2018-10-10T19:47:57.377Z"}
I tried doing a reset from the ubuntu system settings app but that didn't change anything.
The GUI also claims I don't have an up-to-date installer, but the version 0.1.21-beta is the same as the version on GitHub.
Does anybody have any suggestions? -
RE: Adb not finding stuff on Nexus4
@advocatux Thanks, but I had done that (that's what I meant by allow the PC to access the phone).

Adb not finding stuff on Nexus4
Hello,
I've just installed ubports on a Nexus 4.
I've also successfully copied all the stuff I want off my old N4 that was still running Canonical Ubuntu Touch using "adb", onto my desktop machine (running Manjaro).
However when I try to copy anything onto the new phone I get a permission denied error, e.g.:adb push Music Music/ adb: error: failed to copy 'Music/fanfare.wav' to 'Music/fanfare.wav': remote Permission denied
If I try to copy anything off the new machine it says the remote file is not found e.g.:
adb pull Music ./Music-new adb: error: remote object 'Music' does not exist
The file manager assures me that Music does exist (even if it does not yet contain anything). I have also tried sudo adb with the same results both for pull & push.
I have enabled developer mode and allowed the PC to access the phone. The device is seen:adb devices -l List of devices attached 01aa97608715709e device usb:3-4.3 product:aosp_mako model:Nexus_4 device:mako transport_id:3
I'm sure I am missing something very simple but what?

RE: Nexus 4 status?
Thanks for the report. Good to know that it ought to work -- I'll probably leave it till after a trip in a couple of weeks time, just to be on the safe side.

Nexus 4 status?
Hello everyone.
From reading the forum and webpage, I am getting somewhat mixed messages about the usability of UBports on the Nexus 4.
I am currently still running the "Official" Ubuntu system on it which works fine but clearly is unsupported. However since the N4 is my only phone (well there's an old OpenMoko in a drawer somewhere), I am rather hesitant to dive in and re-install without at least a few reports of success. Equally, since I am a very light user I don't feel inclined to pay large sums for a newer phone (and I find Android's barrage of unwanted marketing guff unbearable). The original Ubuntu install was done using the ubuntu-device-flash tools installed on Manjaro Linux, which would be my intended route again (the only Ubuntu machine I have is my work PC which is still on 14.04).
The things that I need to be able to do, aren't that extensive: Install, make & receive calls, receive & send texts and run the stopwatch app. I wouldn't regard other limitations as showstoppers.
Experiences please.
