RE: Stuck at Boot-Startscreen
@taiga-woods I have the same problem! I cannot boot. Recovery mode is working. Never had that since 2015. I only see the boot screen.
If it appears after a reinstallation - what is that!?

Print respirator masks with a 3d-printer to protect against corona
I found this link where somebody wants to print specific respirator masks. Maybe here is somebody who can prove that?

RE: Kr00K and Ubuntu Touch
Here the german environmental minister wants to introduce "a right to repair" for customers owning any smartphone. Of course she means at first the hardware - but what helps hardware without actual software.
I guess we will come out with round about 10 years smartphone guaranty. Maybe android has to be staying up-to-date for this time - or something else....

RE: Kr00K and Ubuntu Touch
@dobey said in Kr00K and Ubuntu Touch:
Regardless of manufacturer support of hardware.
It sounds as a nice compromise - source code has to be published when manufacturer will not support hardware anymore.

RE: Kr00K and Ubuntu Touch
@dobey Sometimes the right people are only at the wrong places.
Look what is beeing discussed - while we discuss that here.

RE: Kr00K and Ubuntu Touch
Yes I understand - I am just thinking about legislative rules - if something like that is not already in place. This would be easily created.
I mean if a company does not want to make further support - ok, no problem - but than they have to publish the code so that people could develop it for themselves. Until nobody reclaims the need nothing would probably happen. But if that would not help because old kernels... I understood that not published drivers is a big problem in the developement of ut!?

RE: Observations on battery life - please share your experiences
@poVoq Never happen during the last years on my N5. I had somtimes the situation that the phone was black - but not off. If u press off-buttom for more than 5 seconds.
I never had a phone which needs a remarkable amount of energy while beeing off. This problem I only know from a Sony Vaio - never had on any other device.
-
RE: Kr00K and Ubuntu Touch
Do we have any lawyer here? I mean, if these N5 phones can be hardly attacked because errors in the drivers-developement - and 1: the producer does not want to develope an update - and 2: a large amount of users still use these devices
-> isn't that a juristic reason that producers could be pushed to publish the code ?
Here a lot of articles in german:

RE: Kr00K and Ubuntu Touch
I also had such an article in my newspapers regarding this WLAN security problem. They wrote that all Nexus phones are hardly effected.
So I think a lot of Nexus-updates should be developed now - in a short time - but if a 2014-phone will be among them? Maybe we all should write a message to LG

when turned off
Strange - but if the phone is off the system is not working. Hardware.
I would say: Never turn it off again

I found this here:

Could there be a connection?

RE: Observations on battery life - please share your experiences
Since I installed the actual Release-channel-update the battery management of the Nexus 5 improved a lot. The time where I do not have to charge the phone at least doubled - or even more.
This morning I had a bigger loss - maybe the problem is not totally solved - but now it is really better than good!

RE: signal vs telegram
Ok, thx for the explanation! I really didn't know how complex that is. And if MSN and Skype did not work ... I understand.
So if somebody wants to go the regulative way, it must be defined a protocoll or something which all messengers have to be able to handle (at least additionaly).
And probably that would never happen.
Would it be imaginable that Telegram or Signal have to add e.g. XMPP?
Ok I really have no idea what Telegram is doing different - but a protocoll just means nohing else than a predefined order of info inside a file - which should be at least possible.
I am also not sure if a connection between messengers will not bring more problems than it solves - but the market position of WA would be broken during a short time.
However, thx for the input.
