Improvements and feedback for the FP5
Hello all! I'm sure you've all noticed by now that the FP5 port has come a long way, and is now quite polished. However it still had a ton of issues regarding WiFi, Bluetooth and battery. But I am extremely excited to say that they all have been fixed! It lasts a very long time on suspend, and WiFi also doesn't disconnect during suspend.
Now I would like your help to test all of the new fixes. Mainly looking for feedback on these:
- Suspend improvements (how long does it last when screen is turned off?)
- WiFi improvements (does the phone wake up when you get a notification?)
- Bluetooth improvements (can you pair to a modern car?)
Once again, thank you all for the support
(P.S.: make sure to install the MR given below for WiFi in suspend)
https://gitlab.com/ubports/development/core/repowerd/-/merge_requests/90you can install it by running
sudo ubports-qa install devel-noble_-_PR_repowerd_90

RE: Install with ubports installer resulted in having a debug kernel
@fubuntu Some QCOM drivers seem to use trace_printk(), but honestly it's not something to bawl over, it's perfectly fine fwiw

RE: Device donation
@Vistaus not trying to be invasive but a UT phone would definitely help me out
My FP4 died a few months ago and I've been itching to do UT development again. If it's feasible, perhaps I could take it? -
RE: How important is strong hardware?
@AmauryDBZ lomiri doesn't support extending displays yet sadly
-
RE: How important is strong hardware?
@kugiigi yeah, the SoC supports two displays at 1080p

RE: Bacon goes focal!
@messayisto I haven't had much time lately, but now I finally have some time to myself. Will be sure to take a look at it!

RE: Browser does not work in focal
@ricardo65 have you tried rebooting the device? works fine here

RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 132 Call for Questions
@UBportsNews When will Epics on GitLab be properly managed to indicate current features/issues being worked on, who's working on them, since when is it being worked on and the estimate for completion?
This could accelerate development because contributors wouldn't be asking around to see if someone is already working on X feature or Y issue, they could just check there and instead find something that isn't being actively tackled, and then proceed to polish that up. -
RE: Does screen copy (scrcpy) for Android work with UBports?
@Peter-Gamma scrcpy is a Java tool, pretty sure that's not going to work for us. Plus, it revolves exclusively around Android frameworks which we also lack.

RE: browser does not work
@ricardo65 Morph works perfectly fine for me on OpO. Even YouTube works. Have you tried reinstalling devel using the installer? Please don't use RC, it contains ancient images that are by the standards of development, obsolete.

RE: Porting to the Samsung Galaxy A10
@actuday6418 You're supposed to use the standalone kernel method for porting all devices from Android 9 and up that ship with Treble. https://pad.ubports.com/p/treble-device-adaptation may help you

RE: lxc cannot be started
@aiyan2 hi, maybe you'd like to join us in https://t.me/ubports_porting

RE: Can you improve an app? And would you like a Pebble smartwatch?
@gwengui are you using rockwork from OpenStore on focal? I'm using it daily now and I have no issues with it.
Do keep in mind that the rockwork daemon actually connects to the watch, not the bluetooth stack. So you will have to launch rockwork first for the watch to be able to connect. -
RE: Bacon goes focal!
@MrT10001 been trying to fix that, no idea why it's broken but I think it's ABI stuff that I broke while upstreaming kernel.

RE: Bacon goes focal!
sooo i've been bored lately, anybody want more stuff working for OpO?
