Sorry, I now see that you messaged me 5 hours ago. I didn't receive a notification. I have answered you.

RE: Device donation
@TheVancedGamer You're not invasive at all! I'm sorry to hear your FP4 died. If you're itching to do UT development again, then I'm happy to donate you the Pixel 3a. Send me a DM with your address and what not.

RE: Device donation
Almost a year later and I still have the Pixel 3a. Is there really no dev interested?

after rebooting the font remains Ubuntu-L
And are you saying that the change has no effect at all? Or that the effect is reverted after a reboot?
What device are you running? And is this the same device you ran 16.04 on, but just updated, or is it a different device?
The change has no effect at all.
My device is a Fxtec Pro1 X with 20.04. I finally received it the other day. My 16.04 device is a Xiaomi Redmi 9, so not the same device.

RE: Change default font
@arubislander said in Change default font:
@Vistaus so maybe you are copying it to the wrong location?
I'm copying them to /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ubuntu-font-family/, overwriting the existing files, same as I did on 16.04. So i.e. Verdana.ttf to /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ubuntu-font-family/Ubuntu-L.ttf and /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ubuntu-font-family/Ubuntu-R.ttf - VerdanaBold.ttf to /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ubuntu-font-family/Ubuntu-B.ttf, etc.

On 16.04 I could overcome that by copying my own fonts over the default ones in /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ubuntu-font-family/*.ttf, but that doesn't work anymore on 20.04.
How does it not work on 20.04? What goes wrong?
What goes wrong is that no matter what font I copy over, like on 16.04, after rebooting the font remains Ubuntu-L on 20.04.

Change default font
Everything is rendered in Ubuntu-L.ttf, which is very hard to read. On 16.04 I could overcome that by copying my own fonts over the default ones in /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ubuntu-font-family/*.ttf, but that doesn't work anymore on 20.04. Is there any way to make this work still or at least find a way to use Ubuntu-R or Ubuntu-M instead of the hard-to-read Ubuntu-L?

@Vistaus Maybe you ask in the device section of the forum or contact the porter?
Maybe, but it's not just the porter that would benefit. UBports devs could use it for other development and testing purposes too.

I am definitely not an Apple fanboy. But as nice and intuitive as iOS (and macOS) work; It really is unbeatable.
Sorry to disagree, but I think you've mistaken intuitive and "used to".
Because never in a thousand years would I have figured about a diagonal draw...UI design of a smartphone is not just about "graphical design", you also have to deal with technical constraints (that can be overcome with time and money) and mostly subjectivity.
Everyone is different and everyone find great things in both iOS and Android, but no one has not a complaint and wish something was different or more like X or Y.Having the drawer less crowded means less apps visible at a glance hence scrolling or typing action.
I thin @kugiigi is right about masking the launcher when the drawer is expended but the transition might be weird...
I thing if the drawer had the same spacing between icons you might feel it is a bit more calming and pleasing (I feel it could be an answer to your issue) but many will probably say that before they had all their favorite apps right there and now they have to scroll...So really not a simple question.
If you come up with a mockup and if someone is willing to try and implement it, I guess we can have a poll and decide to mainstream it or make it available to tweak this out.Exactly! I love intuitive designs too and I too am a normal user (and 31 years old, so not an old geezer!), but iOS is not intuitive for me (and Android is even worse). Ubuntu Touch is way more intuitive to me, including the app drawer. I love the app drawer and launcher so much as they currently are, so please don't change that! Or if it's changed, at least provide an option to keep the current workflow for people like me.

Device donation
Hello,
I have a Pixel 3a that I want to donate to UBports. It currently runs Ubuntu Touch 20.04, so it's already set up for you guys to use. How can I donate it to you?

RE: Browser flac media type?
@arubislander said in Browser flac media type?:
@Vistaus Do they work in VLC installed in a Libertine container?
Sorry, forgot to mention that I already tried that, but VLC only displays a black screen upon opening (other Libertine apps open fine, though).
Device: Xiaomi Redmi 9
OS version: 16.04 Xenial, devel channel -

@arubislander said in Browser flac media type?:
@Vistaus, if evem music player does not recognize your flac files, then I maybe there is something wrong with them? Can you copy the file back to your PC and try to play it from there? If you can't then try playing the original file? If you can play that, then maybe something went wrong in the copying.
They work perfectly fine on my PC, in all music apps (Amarok, VLC, Elisa, etc.).

RE: Browser flac media type?
@vandys Sorry for the bump, but I have run into this issue as well. Even the music player can't play my flac files.

@Rondarius You are right, I am not very busy at the forum. But if you ping me, I will get an email.
Regarding the patreon merchandise, I managed to find out that the shop is currently undergoing some internal changes and handing over duties. I am not involved myself, but I kindly ask you to be patient. Your case is known now and hopefully can get sorted soon.
Thank you so much for replying! I'll wait patiently!

RE: Redmi note 9s doubt with Ubuntu Touch
@MrT10001 said in Redmi note 9s doubt with Ubuntu Touch:
@Vistaus Yes, my Redmi 9 works fine. From experience, warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on, especially on a device over a year old. I have taken the leap of faith on many a device.
But I don't currently have the Redmi Note 9S, only the regular Redmi 9 with Ubuntu Touch, so if I were to buy the 9S now, it would be new and not over a year old. That makes a difference warranty-wise.

@MrT10001 said in Redmi note 9s doubt with Ubuntu Touch:
@Vistaus I have found that too. Porters come and go as I guess life and other things take over.
That's okay, as long as everything (or at least the most important things) work. But there's no way of knowing on this particular device unless you take the leap and try it on the non-India variant. The device is pretty cheap, but you do lose your warranty when you unlock the bootloader, so as a user rather than a dev, it would be nice to know beforehand whether it'll (mostly) work or not.
On my Redmi 9 (the regular Redmi 9) Ubuntu Touch works like a breeze.

Do you have a link to that interaction? I might be able to provide additional context in a more visible place for devs. The forums are mostly frequented by users such as you and me.

@Vistaus The Pixel 3a is known to exhibit spontaneous reboots, on 20.04. We haven't got a handle on it yet.
Strange that one of the devs on GitLab contradicted that, but oh well. My mum is coming over this weekend, so I'm able to provide more information for the devs if needed. Just let me know what information and the best place to post it.

@Vistaus Contact the porter. I would take a wild guess that they reside in India and used a version of the 9s with an Indian ROM on it.
I did contact the porter, but no response.
