OK, so I just ignored the error message and got the phone into recovery mode, whilst the installer was downloading the image.

I left the phone alone and left the room and came back 15 minutes later and the image has been flashed to the phone. Everything seems to have worked.

I now get a message on the installer:

Error: configure: Error: fetching system image channels failed: Error: getaddrinfo EAI_AGAIN system-image.ubports.com

yes, I followed the instructions and sometimes it gets to recovery mode on the phone but on the installer it is searching for adb devices and a message pops up saying it has lost connection.

    • FairPhone 2 won't install.

I have spent over 2 hours trying to install ubuntu touch on my fairphone 2 without success.

The installer keeps loosing connection to the device and I have used several different usb leads. Then I get messages that the installer has bugs and on the phone, the android robot has a ! in a red triangle and the words below 'No Command'

I have enabled developer mode and usb debugging but nothing is working.

for some reason, the ubports welcome screen has been installed onto the phone but the OS remains android.

I have successfully installed on a One Plus One and Nexus 5 but the fairphone 2 is impossible.

      any suggestions?

      Thanks.

I'm trying to work out adb shell to install this VPN on to Ubuntu Touch. Rob Braxman says that is how he installed it. Any help on how to use adb, as it is all new and complicated for a beginner. Thanks.

      @Marathon2422

      Yes, I asked Rob.
He said it is a bug in the network manager interface and not in his VPN.

He has suggested trying it on a computer using adb shell, connected by USB to my Ubuntu Touch.

Not sure how to do that though, as I'm a newbie at installing anything to do with Linux.

    • bytzvpn (Rob Braxman)

      Hi,

Has any one had any luck installing Rob Braxman's bytzvpn on Ubuntu Touch?

I've installed VPN editor and followed his instructions to the letter but not all the options in his instructions are in VPN editor.

      Thanks.

      @Lakotaubp

Rebooted phone as it seemed stuck in bootstrap, phone displaying ubports logo.

      Re installed and phone updating.

Installer saying success, so hopefully it has worked.

OK, I seem to have Ubuntu installed on my phone👍

I downgraded the installer to 0.4.18-beta and that worked.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and help.

@Lakotaubp said in Oneplus One failed:

@w0lf3n When you get back first try using the terminal

      adb devices (should show device)

      Then

      adb reboot bootloader
      fastboot devices (should show device)

      Then try again.

      OK,
Device was listed, so I tried again.
Installer is saying preparing system image and phone is saying Cyanogen Recovery with options:
      Reeboot system now
      Apply updates
      Factory reset
      Advanced

OK, so I tried a fourth USB cable and lo and behold it seems to have worked. The Ubports installer Is displaying Flashing firmware and the phone is in fastboot mode, however its been like that for 8 hours. How long does it normally take?

@w0lf3n This is really weird. Maybe some issue with the phone hardware itself then :(.

      Your probably right.

Oh well, at least my useless pine phone will have some company in the back of the drawer 😂

Thanks for the help, anyway 👍

@w0lf3n Now you have that option retry typing (with the phone in normal mode)

      adb devices

in a terminal. What do you get.

      List of devices attached

      • daemon not running. Starting it now on port 5037*
      • daemon stared successfully *
