@audrew Are you aware that Anbox (which is deprecated) is set to be swapped out for Waydroid in the next OTA update? I am not sure what that would mean for existing Anbox installs.

@developerbayman I am terribly sorry for your loss. Mothers are such unsung heroes. It is great to read about yours. She will never really be gone as long as you remember her. When you are in a better place, we should pick up the discussion on the point you raised about webapps and embedded webviews. In my original response to you it was never my intention to call in question your integrity or motives. Rather I wanted to avoid giving the opportunity for our forum users to develop the habit of installing executables linked in the forums.

@dpitti You have to? One of the features of Waydroid Helper is that it will install Waydroid for you. Be it with GAPPS or not. So I don't think you have to use terminal at all. Note I am not saying you can't or shouldn't. Use whatever you prefer. I've tried both out of curiosity and usually just go with terminal, but there is this option.

What worked for me installing Waydroid on OP5t OTA24 Stable was installing from the Terminal using the following commands: sudo -s sudo mount -o remount,rw / apt update apt install waydroid -y waydroid init sudo waydroid session stop sudo sed '/aidl/s/2/3/' -i /etc/gbinder.d/anbox.conf sudo reboot Best regards, Steve Berson

@mschmids hi, so far I did not get it to start on the Volla Phone (by using only waydroid helper app). I've tried 3 times install/de-install... Should I try it via terminal instead?

@picrard I uninstalled and reinstalled many times without success, I think that the problem lies with the Waydroid image itself, so reinstalling just re-added the problem each time. I have no idea if it has been fixed in the meantime. What I did to fix it, and I have since used this to fix other Waydroid problems. Is simply download an older Waydroid image from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/waydroid/files/images/ You have to download both a system and a vendor image, I assume from the same date. I used one from May 2022. Make sure you have Waydroid installed, and then simply delete the existing images from the folder: /var/lib/waydroid/images/ There should be a system.img and a vendor.img in there. Delete those and copy over the system.img and vendor.img you downloaded into that folder. You can use the command line or the File Manager to do that. Then just start Waydroid. All your setings and files in Waydroid should still be there.

I have a pixel 2 xl so your mileage may vary, but it took me 3 times to get Waydroid to install. I used Waydroid helper, but the installation is extremely touchy. You have to keep your screen unlocked and you cannot touch anything or even have the screen rotate during the install or it will stall. I don't recall the snippet I read that gave me the clue to do that, but once I was able to get that down and not touch the phone at all, I was able to successfully install waydroid. I just did it yesterday.
