@Dieter42 said in No video transmission with messengers: Have Ubuntu Touch a special firewall-config for Waydroid ? I don't think so. It should have pretty much a full access to hardware (or rather the Android firmware which UT is also using) with the exception of some things like networking as it doesn't have access to the telephony stack for instance. However I know little about this

Yes, just use a second smartphone for WhatsApp. The Waydroid thing is good, but I've also had problems like this with other manufacturers. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Or ask in the support channels for Waydroid in Telegram. It's just too annoying to wade through 100 groups. You get used to Google and Android by necessity, so to speak. Many people still use the WhatsApp data cracker.

For the record, it's possible to select a GAPPS compatible ROM within waydroid, using the following command: sudo waydroid init -s GAPPS At least in my experience though, even though theoretically it comes with Google Play Services and the Play Store, Strava wouldn't work. I believe it might have something to do with Google Play Certification, see here -> https://docs.waydro.id/faq/google-play-certification

@treebeard on UT changes to fstab are not persistent. In the latest OTA's waydroid and all dependencies.should already be installed and just need initializing. Maybe contact the porter of your device for more information.

@arubislander Yes, agreed. Not the greatest link. But a proof of dirty firmware through Google. Eventhough not guilty of this one.

@TheBird , yes. I noticed same - I though however to look for information if anyone knows how to fix it without workaround like that. I will live with that for now - thank you a lot.

@lduboeuf , thank you. Unfortunately for me it appears after phone and/or waydroid reboot. I think I even uninstalled waydroid via helper (due to other problems) and it did remain.

You might be best asking here https://t.me/waydroidonut Please remember Waydroid is not a perfect solution to running android apps on UT and you need to set the correct permissions when setting up WayDroid for the apps that can to work correctly have a look through the post here https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5907/open-ubuntu-touch-to-all-android-applications/99 Also WayDroid is not a part of the UT OS, it is a separate project aimed at making it possible for those that want to use android apps.
