@CiberSheep Thanks for the hint. In my case it was not enough, i got to install Android update (12) and do a factory reset then ( still having the SIM up ), then next run i was able to toggle on OEM unlock. Note that by installing the required version later, the setting was greyed again but did not blocked the UT install process ( bootloader stays unlocked ).

@granule You can buy a wireless display/miracast adapater that you cam plug into your monitor's HDMI port. The most recommended is Microsoft's adapter since it's the ones know to reliably work with UT. Other adapters would be hit or miss.

@moodroid ... I just bought some 3a and 3a XL for a project where I needed a Linux Phone ... And my first experience was to be 4 hours fighting and finishing with a "bricked" 3a ... ahhhh ... just that was not bricked and I didn't understand several things about the process (I am writing my own manual with the details). At the end, that Android 9 permanent Google splash screen after using the flash-all.bat is annoying, but not wrong. Just need to continue with the UBports installation and at the end you will have an operational Ubuntu Touch phone working. Other thing .... the current Google instructions for backport are USELESS, as they already erased the information about the 3a or 3a XL. There is a WIRELESS version that doesn't work because it is not possible to downgrade the phone ... (Android limitation), so you need to use a FACTORY version, unpack the ZIP file and follow the instructions, to finish with the bricked phone. I found one, but after so many URLs I am not sure where I had it ... could some official Touch source to publish an official FACTORY URL for 3a (sargo) and 3a XL (bonito) images? ... again, don't say that read the Android references, because they are no longer working with these Pixel phones. It seems that UBPorts just needs the phone to have some Android 9 things there. And well, I even erased all the phone, but rebooting it and playing with Power and Power volume buttons, makes the PC script to recognize the phone and deliver the Android 9 version. What about another Android version? ... in my initial desperation, I also tested that, but the installation fails. So cool your head a little and just do the things with calm and everything happy. The Flash Android tools downgraded a 3a XL without any trouble, Just Development mode, USB Debugging and the OEM Ulocking, and to accept some questions here and there and ready, Android 9. The only I need to figure is how to turn off the Unlocking option since I have no more Android in the phone and I don't need Android there again ... maybe one of these days

@kugiigi said in Keepass on Focal: @becherekmg The show password icon is there but it's not properly displayed in dark mode so it's kinda hidden Yes, you are right. I couldn't see the icon because of the dark mode. Thanks. But today I found out that I can open an old databaze I created six months ago for testing. So the application probably works and I probably have some problem with the particular database I'm trying to open.

@lduboeuf Pixel 3a. I don't know what to say: After a number of restarts done out of frustration, now it worked. I have a theory, but I wan't careful enough to watch what I was doing so I can't say this is a for sure thing: I THINK it worked when I turned off the VPN on the device.

@dj-finney There is no ETA because this is not a clear cut issue. There is ongoing investigation as tonwhat is possible for what devices. There is consultation and dialogue between several mobile linux projects to arrive at a solution. But crackng this is not vey simple.

@davedanger It is very unlikely an app caused issues with ADB detection.

@MrT10001 said in Absolutely Impressed: Waydroid is a luxury in my view, a nice to have, but why when you can buy a cheap smartphone off eBay and have all your apps for banking etc that won't work with UT or Waydroid I want to use Ubuntu Touch, and Waydroid for me is a crutch, until we get more native apps. I'd rather not need to use Waydroid, but if you give me the choice between using Waydroid, or buy another cheap phone, for my personal app usage, to be able to use signal, or whatever, obviously, the cheaper, more private, more convenient option is what I'm going to choose. Your comments seem to go back on themselves. @MrT10001 said in Absolutely Impressed: I am personally not bothered about data scraping and so on If that's the case, why bother saying @MrT10001 said in Absolutely Impressed: UT is to get away from Google, Apple, Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi and the like that all want your data for tracking and ads Why do you keep saying you need android because there isn't ubuntu touch versions of the apps, but ask people why they would even bother with waydroid? You seem to imply that you should only use Ubuntu Touch as a daily driver if you want privacy, but if you want privacy, then there are much more secure android roms, with full disc encryption, ability's to stop data transfer if you lose VPN connections, a way to make all your apps use the TOR network. You say thanks and say that you appreciate the work, and you keep saying "in my personal opinion" and all that, which is fine, but then it appears that that if an idea or use-case doesn't fit into your perspective, then you question it, and push the solutions to the side, and I personally feel like that pushes away from people who want to make the project better for there cases, its especially dismissing if it's worded like fud, many banking, traveling agency's etc, have a website, which will work fine on Ubuntu Touch, you can easily use signal, whatsapp, instagram, facebook messenger, etc on Ubuntu Touch, using waydroid or there website, and they work fine, you can say "They don't work as well on Ubuntu Touch because waydroid xyz issues" but it's really dismissive to say "Oh you can't message people on instagram" when the browser app is right there, and you can install the APK easily, ok you wont have notifications, but saying "I struggle to use instagram on ubuntu touch because I dont get notifications properly" is a very different and none dismissive alternative to "I cant message people on instagram using ubuntu touch" You seem to dismiss any arguments which state that you can do something, with "maybe you can't" and "but why would you?" but then you're telling us how you place your value, by coming up with an issue, it being solved for you, and when it's solved, just dismissing it with a "why would you even want to?", and then continuing to say that you can't do the thing that we just solved, because it's done in a none-ideal way. If Waydroid isn't for you thats fine, and if your solution of keeping android as your daily is your solution, that's fine, I don't see people constantly asking you why you would that, when you could do something else, and thats because people weigh preferences differently and have different needs and wants, but just because its not your preference, doesn't mean other people think the same way as you, or have your preferences, yes ubuntu touch can have its inconveniences, but people use it despite that for a reason, and it's not just to get away from Apple and Google. If you are generally asking why you would use waydroid on your preferred OS you want to use daily, over wasting money, time, convenience and a bit of your privacy to use a OS you don't like, by buying a cheap android phone, then I and others have given you a few reasons, so please stop asking the same question.

I reinstalled Android, the SIM card still did not work properly. I was able to read the correct provider name in the phone settings. I tried different SIM cards from different operators, all had the same issue. I could read the operator correctly, but no cellular connection did not work. Than GPS also started to show issues, in the first weeks I was able to get and hold a fix. But now the first fix was ok, but after a couple of minutes the GPS stopped working. I opened the device, because previous owner said it got a new battery. half of the screw were missing. I needed my phone for work and had no time for further investigation. In the end I bought a new Pixel 3a and am installing UT at the moment.

@Mangovnik No. DisplayLink is possible but it's proprietary and I don't think the Nextdock supports it.
