@azraelpwnz note that SMS is now 100% reliable in and out. MMS photos work in and out with wifi OFF. Wifi ON is a problem, but broader than the P3a. https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6039/bounty-for-pixel-3a-halium-9-stability/18?_=1630188659271

@standupmobile @damiam note that APN settings sticking via the GUI are indeed a problem: you can manually install updated ofono and ofono-scripts packages that help address that. Even then it takes a bit of fiddling to clear out, but note that after that MMS is reliable for photos in and out when wifi is OFF. Wifi ON still is a problem, but broader than the P3a. SMS is now 100% reliable thanks to fixes from @fredldotme https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6039/bounty-for-pixel-3a-halium-9-stability/18?_=1630188659271

@mw4jet @Nutmeg great news, SMS is now 100% reliable. Here is a link to the post @fredldotme made noting the fixes: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6039/bounty-for-pixel-3a-halium-9-stability/18?_=1630188659271 In short, "IMS" services needed to be disabled on the phone so that carriers don't start sending SMS over "IMS" and keep sending them the "old school way" which works. MMS photos also working reliably when wifi is OFF. With wifi on, it is not, but it is a known problem broader than the Pixel 3a. MMS group messages have trouble coming IN, but can be SENT (again only with wifi off).

@CJLes72 GOOD news! Incoming SMS is now reliable on the P3a in the US / Canada (due to disabling "IMS" on the phone so the carriers don't convert sending SMS over IMS and keep sending it the "old school way" which works). This is quite reliable now. Also, MMS photos in and out work reliably with wifi turned OFF: with wifi ON they do not work right, but it is broader than the P3a. Here is the link to the post where @fredldotme references these fixes: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6039/bounty-for-pixel-3a-halium-9-stability/18?_=1630188659271

@rocket2nfinity Just an update, I could not find any info on android 9 breaking the sensors anywhere. Whatever the issue is, it must only affect a small number of phones. Got another pixel 3a, flashed 9, sensors work! Installed Ubuntu Touch and sensors work! UT looks amazing on this phone and I have not had to charge it in 24 hours! Still have to test everything out such as MMS. As for the original phone, as it works on 11, I gave it to a family member who needed a new android phone. Man, Ubuntu Touch is getting expensive

@raydantheman Verizon is not yet supported as a network. You need to use a GSM network SIM, and maybe try switching carrier settings to 3G only if calls are failing.

@matteo The first is a known halium 9 problem on multiple devices. The second is because no one has come up with a splash image yet to replace it, as the device is relatively new to the installer.

I guess it was the carrier, Patriot is a "third party" and has limitations according to their support line, it never connected, and we tried for an hour, but the phone did not report a message to indicate it was SIM locked, I got an AT@T prepaid and it works great...basically same low rate too. I had reflashed to android and upgraded to Android 11 verified it worked, then flashed UT which was successful the very first try. A lot works on the Pixel too.

I have a Pixel 3a XL and using GrapheneOS, which the updates end in August 2022. At that time, I will be installing Ubuntu Touch so I am watching this page for any updates regarding a smooth installation. Thanks
