@thereverend Currently I don't see support for that device, but if you want to you can try to port UT on it Here is a good starting point. https://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/porting/introduction/index.html Good luck.

@Keneda Let's admit that a few bad technocratic decisions are made, it won't change much I think because in the world of foss, I don't speak for UT specifically but all OS, many browsers are in circulation (and perhaps more after that), the sources are mainly free access and everyone is free to put in or remove the packages they want. This is just my reflection as a non-specialist. And the thing is that I can't see politicians alienating themselves from, for example, Firefox, a secure browser (so far) and very efficient and surely widely used in all aspects of administration. Beware of the perverse effects of bad political decisions.

Above all, it is office apps that are lacking for UT and I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable price for high-performance, reliable and maintained office apps.

@arubislander said in Bring devs to UT: ... a fully viable and operational UT. I think it is dependent on the device manufacturer more than the OS developer, which is why Volla is probably the best bet.

@valeriAshten All supported devices are here https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ any that are not need to be ported by someone with the device which is not easy. We have more info here https://t.me/UTFAQ and https://forums.ubports.com/topic/206/will-you-port-to-device-x/1

@pachof said in hello a question is there any port for the samsung gt-i9082l or gt i9080l, and if there is not then is there someone who wants to make a port of these devices: hello need a port for the samsung grand duos gt-i9082l or samsung grand gt-i9080l to give a second life to my old phones Since you are the one who feels the need, and you also own these phones, you would be the perfect candidate to do the job. Please see https://docs.ubports.com/porting

@akseli You can check it at https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ in the search field, enter the model of your device and check if it is on the list.

@tiffafk There is currently no easy way to do that on device. You would need to apply post-processing to the images. Search for tools to do this on Linux (preferably via the command line) chances are, those tools might work on UT too. Having said that: Have you checked what exif data is included by default? Maybe it already omits those things you do not want in it.

@Moem Yes, the term gets confused. Huawei phones have a bootloader that cannot be unlocked. That is why there are so few ROMs and mods on XDA developers.

@Flohack said in PineTime $25 FOSS smart watch: @Moem I am afraid no one so far did develop any middleware or App for UT to let the PineTime connect to it. Its totally feasable, but would need at least 1 or 2 devs getting their hands dirty. That's not true: there's uWatch on GitLab. I can't get it to work with the PineTime, tho, but the dev has made it work with the PineTime, so clearly work is being carried out.

@Moem et al. Here's how I made the mistake. It started when I sent this gag to a friend. [image: 1683576113936-e8d90b25-20cf-49bc-a0a7-89d35a1f9b02-image.png] https://external-preview.redd.it/mLO_hY84ieF9abS8XmshJQAwPPidWJ6DpbSZXCR4xMw.png?auto=webp&s=c2ef5499058083b871133e3e2b07ebaf41ccefb9 Friend showed me this, all Platforms (desktop, tablet, mobile.) [image: 1683576317336-8bf33686-2ac3-4ea0-a428-139395aac46b-image.png] https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share#monthly-202204-202304 Note Android is taking a sharp fall, Unknown is rising, and the dominant Apple dataset is shown purple. Edit: No, it's grey! Just that the purple one stands out more. Then I came back many hours later (well past my bedtime!) to look at Mobile OSes specifically. [image: 1683576562584-d6ae6989-d0d5-4a8b-a440-125be2836689-image.png] https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share/mobile/worldwide#monthly-202204-202304 Android falling at the same rate the underdog is rising. Blinded by expectation from the previous chart, I didn't realise that Apple had 'disappeared' from my perception. Whoops.
