@777funk No, I just meant don't expect good and smooth experience if you heavily browse the internet. I personally have many tabs always open in the browser and even 8GB of RAM on an S10 is starting to struggle with Twitter always open Xperia X is fine if you don't use it much for multitasking and heavy tasks

Thanks for the replies. Right now my phone doesn't want to connect with the 5 GHz network. But I thought I had seen that device using 5 GHz already. strange.

@kcbarton Data will work, but calls and SMS won't work without support for VoLTE. Sorry.

@turtlenate Good idea, that would have been my next suggestion. I've done it before and when you untick 'wipe user data' it's quite safe. Best of luck!

@eichenbast Hi, You are right, but your step would be my next step in this case. I never know what knowledge the questioner has, so I start with an answer that can be made without much effort. If he had more experience, he would have come across the following link in the forum himself. https://forums.ubports.com/topic/3229/sony-xperia-x-suzu-f5121-f5122/160?_=1650028525494&lang=de# Or (googled): https://sony-mobile-emma.en.lo4d.com/windows Warm regards Mario

I had the same problem until I found out that the installer wants the complete path to the zip file, not to the extracted .img. Downloads/SW_binaries_for_Xperia_AOSP_N_MR1_5.7_r1_v08_loire.zip This could be clearer in the documentation.

@AppLee Thy for the hint. I didnt know that app. Looks nice. The sound sounds quite flat ... with clicking noises in the hights (e.g. hihat). Don't think hat has something to with the speakers, because the soundquality is also poor when I connect suzu to my bose-box.

@zilladog I too am a little late to this forum post. I just stumbled upon this as I too am trying to figure out what to do with my Xperia X. My recent experience with T-Mobile suggests that VoLTE is required. I used a Sony Xperia X (F5122, dual SIM version, with an outdated Sony-supplied Android) with T-Mobile in the US for about two years (2018-2019), and then I moved to Canada, where I've been using the same phone for the last two years with a Canadian operator. I had also cancelled my old T-Mobile plan. When I visited the US last month (November 2021), I bought a pre-paid T-Mobile SIM, assuming that the phone will continue to work with T-Mobile. I could even activate it at the store, using the same phone. But an our or later it was dropped out of the network. I tried switching SIM slots, rebooting, and so on, but none of that worked. So I called customer support (from another phone, of course) and learned that the Xperia X is probably no longer supported. I suspect this is because T-Mobile had dropped support for phones that do not have VoLTE, such as my F5122, by August 2021 or so. https://www.theverge.com/2020/7/23/21336397/t-mobile-require-support-volte-2021-5g-lte You can check T-Mobile's support status of your phone by entering its IMEI number in their website, here: https://www.t-mobile.com/resources/bring-your-own-phone It seems that certain non-US versions of the F5122 Android firmware have a toggle switch that can probably enable VoLTE, but I do not want to go down that particular rabbit hole. Perhaps the next time I will give UBPorts a try!

@ilija_zmaj I have one too since today! It's a pretty sweet device... I found one other buglet: if you are using the camera app and zoom in, a line of weirdness that looks like distorted characters appears on the middle of the screen. It does not show on the pictures, so it's no biggie.

@lduboeuf Normally not. The whole purpose of this message is that it cannot be supressed by a malign firmware or flash. @stanwood it would be counter-beneficial if that would be simply erasable by a flash command. Normally those images are embedded in the bootloader, and so one would need to hack the whole bootloader and replace it. Thats a quite dangerous task, it might hardbrick your phone. Maybe some day we find a way to re-lock boot loaders

I know it's an quite old thread but just in case someone is looking for a solution ... as I just moved my Xperia X from Sailfish to Ubuntu touch - you just have to: Flash the OEM binaries from: https://developer.sony.com/file/download/software-binaries-for-aosp-nougat-android-7-1-kernel-4-4-loire/ unzip, go to the dir and fastboot flash oem SW_binaries_for_Xperia_AOSP_N_MR1_5.7_r1_v08_loire.img run the UBports Installer - tick wipe user data to be on the safe side

@tera OK, a good guess so ^^ Don't forget that's not because we speak english here, that we all rule this language. Lot of us have another native language (my case), and full words are better to use.

@ilija_zmaj That good to know. Next time it should be faster, though it will never be reliable indoors.
