@sven I will share you my experience. On Jan, I have tried to mess around like what you have said with my device Google Pixel 3a XL by trying other OS (Droidian) which was available as a second option after UT. I've installed it with success and ease. Honestly it is quite interesting, but still lags and lack of features. The idea is good comparing to real desktop version. I have decided to go back to UT 20.04 OTA-7, by flashing the device to Stock Android 9 and then commencing installing UT via UT Installer. All steps were correct, only when reached Recovery Mode and waiting for files to be installed, it got stuck for ever there, just waiting and scanning devices. I have tried three times with no luck to install UT back to my device. I have tried four times Android 9 and Droidian with success and no issues. This is my experience with messing around with UT. Am waiting to see 24.04 to be released to install it back again to my device.

Hi @jojumaxx said in Running Waydroid fails...: Do you mean this list? I sense that you're not talking about the same list. @arubislander was probably referring to this one: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/vidofnir/ The "waydroid" feature is shown as: Partial = Working to some extent but with issues Clicking on this link leads to the actual issue. And it's the same as the Quintus. https://gitlab.com/ubports/development/core/packaging/waydroid/-/issues/24 But wait, there's more; this issue is not really one, but instead it's a workaround made by Jami in order to setup waydroid on both devices (Volla X23 and Quintus)... And I hope that this is the answer you were looking for.

I have a Volla 22, and the time it gets a GPS fix in Waydroid is very short. I haven't seen anything comparable in any of the other devices where I've seen UT running (and I have seen Nexus 5, OnePlusOne in the 16.04 times, and original Volla (crazy), Pixel 3a XL and Fairphone 5 in the 20.04 era.) I've seen it getting a fix even indoors and getting the correct fix even if changing completely location, so I doubt it is using a cache. One would suspect it is using a-gps in Waydroid, but if I understand correctly, a-gps uses the cell towers and so needs an active SIM card, which Waydroid does not have. I've seen this only happening in Waydroid, if I use GPS from a native UT app the time to get a fix is the "normal" one for UT, that is, quite slow. I don't know if anybody else has this same experience.

AFAIK it will move to noble, but it won't get VoLTE (like the Vollaphone). First it's nice to know that these devices are kept alive with the move to noble, but on the other hand it's a pity that they won't get VoLTE (even if they are capable of that under VollaOS). So they will be up to date from the software-side, but can't do a simple phone call or sending a message/SMS because of the 2G shutdown

Hi @AAM42 Just use the UBports installer. Go to this page, everything is explained: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/algiz/ I hope it'll go smoothly.

@PiotrBujakowski I think you mean Volla Tablet? I'm moving your post to the Volla section.
