Is there anything better than Morph browser? It's outdated and many websites don't work properly.

@yk102 You can try the new Sapot browser that is in the Open Store; it's a work in progress but some people already like it a lot. It does have the same rendering engine though.

          Is currently using an Op5t
Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

Browsers on Ubuntu Touch are built on QtWebengine

The current state is that we are working towards a version based off Ubuntu 20.04.
This is a race to get mainstreamed stuff but we need more developers or more money.

An because I read several messages today in the same flavor as yours I'll repeat myself.
Please this is a forum, not tweeter ; you can write longer messages and put some context to your questions.

Also if you want better, you can try and do it.
Your comment is a bit rude to people putting a lot of time and effort into maintaining a full blown native browser for Ubuntu Touch. No, there is nothing better and instead of looking for clusterization I would advocate for contribution and continuous improvement.

Sorry it's late. Bottom line, please consider the people behind the tools you're using and criticizing.
Critics is good but trashing is no good šŸ˜‰

Next stable OTA update should improve morph website compatibility as some work was done and already reached dev channel.
              https://forums.ubports.com/topic/8074/email-application/36?_=1662987936717

@Moem Sapot is a morph fork to test features, so not more marure than Morph, plus, last update doesn't work at all with some devices, like mine.

@AppLee I don't think OP intended to be mean to people behind Morph.
I myself encounter some sites that don't work with Morph due to outdated user agent, and a lot more that keep on asking me if i'm a robot.

Sadly, until we get a new web engine working on UT, there will be times, which can be often, that our browsers are too outdated. We rely on QtWebEngine whcih relies on Chromium. Good news is that QtWebEngine can be upgraded separate from base Qt version however, we still have to wait for QtWebEngine to update to latest Chromium. Also, not sure what's even the state for Qt6 and if we can even upgrade to it.

@Keneda I've fixed the crashes on devices like MX4 in the last update and it was actually a huge update. It obviously still have the issue of being outdated but I at least try to make the experience more pleasant šŸ˜„

It's been more than 2 months since I have the latest version of QtWebEngine installed. It works well and improves things on morph-browser and on Sapot partially because on Sapot it is no longer possible to connect to certain sites such as Gitlab for example. But i like to use Sapot browser, it's a great browser.

Anyway, it currently lacks an essential password manager regardless of the browser.

@keneda Unfortunately, that's something I personally don't use in any browser so there's not much of a chance I'd do it myself. And it's probably a big and complicated task so I'll leave it to more skilled develeopers šŸ˜„

@applee I apologize for the short post, it might indeed come across as rude to someone quite easily.

The thing is, the Internet is quite important, and since UB doesn't have Android apps (Waydroid is really messy right now with the way it integrates to Unity) I at least need a functional web browser. The 2 days I had the browser I encountered at least 5 websites that didn't work properly, and that's a lot for just 2 days. This isn't really criticism, just my feedback, and me just looking if there is a better way.

@Emphrath Which one do you use? Firefox doesn't work, and Opera Mini has issues. On top of that, Waydroid is a bit trippy. For example, all open applications look the same in Unity's window manager thing. And if you close one, sometimes all of them close. It's rough, so not sure I can depend on it either way.

Also, Waydroid seems to be draining my battery quite fast.

@applee Well, QtWebengine is a horrible and very unfourtunate choice for such a project (that promotes, as stated on ubports homepage, citing: "We are building a secure & private operating system for your smartphone."). Given the fact that all here knows very well why the same base of the engine is used by all major IT companies that is heavily oriented to profit and their profit comes from your data, I am really surprised, what exactly this engine does in UBports in the first place, let alone that you can't disable webrtc. It's kinda does not match at all with the welcome statement on front page.

Exact. A known problem which means sites using webrtc can see our real ip address even through a vpn if i'm not mistaken.
