-
Nominations are now open for the UBports Community Awards.
Since this is the first run at having these awards, I thought
its best to keep things a bit simple.
Here are the final two categories:- Community favourite app
- Community favourite developer
Everyone can suggest up to two nominees for each category.
Nominations close on the evening of 1 Dec.
Leave your suggestions below.For each nomination, indicate the category, nominee and a short paragraph about why you are nominating this person/app.
Prize: A large pizza for each category.

i don't know the developpers.
but my favorit app is OSM scout server. -
@RJDan Hello, I would like to nominate as Community favourite developer 2025:
@fredldotme (Alfred E. Neumayer) https://gitlab.com/fredldotme https://fredl.me/
because of his technical explanations and his constant work on different parts of the OS (Last things I saw him post about where kernel updates, encryption and docker).@lduboeuf (Lionel Duboeuf) https://gitlab.com/lduboeuf https://www.youtube.com/@totodesbois100
because I often see his activities on Gitlab and he seems like a helpful person to me.If I could nominate more than two people I would also like to mention
@peat_psuwit, because of his involvement with the move to 24.04,
@pparent, because of his work on a Signal App and communication with the community during the process and
@k.nacke, because it looked like he joined this year and immediately started successfully porting a device.As Community favourite app 2025 I would like to nominate two efforts to bring better web browsers to UT:
uWolf https://open-store.io/app/uwolf.chromiumos-guy by @ChromiumOS-Guy
because it is nice to have a newer browser, but it is also nice to see that it was possible to bring a big classic GTK desktop app to UT.Morph QT6 https://open-store.io/app/mariogrip.morph.browser-qt6 by @mariogrip
because development on Morph is really appreciated.I could help make some graphics for the "UBports Community Awards" and help make a good looking web page, so the winners and nominees could later link to something, when they apply for a job or just want to "flex on their friends".

List of Apps for Human Beings:
futify - Despite all the hate, I love it
dekko - same as aboveList of Human Beings:
I could list all the hard workers where one of them will definitely win (Marius, Alfred, Ratchanan, Sunweaver, Jami, NotKit, Danfro, Capsia,..)
but I will be biased and mention those who personally wasted a lot of time with me on chat (unfortunately I will leave out people like all wilfridd, x.Dub, jmlich,..)lduboeuf - for all the time he spent with me debugging bugs in the SMS and Calendar apps
Vlad Nirki - for the time spent debugging at the beginning of the year, to make VoLTE work on miatoll
-
-
Team Gold to everyone involved in the transition to a fluid Noble. It is partly transparent but you should know that the number of problems to fix in all directions and requests to validate is immeasurable !
-
@johndoe
Nice write up!!
I will only take the first two nominations, just to be fair (and not create too many options).But thank you for the enthusiasm!
-
@johndoe
about the webpage and graphics; That would be greatly appreciated.
I will try to find out how one gets a page added to the UBports website. -
My nominations.
Community favourite app:
-
Sapot
Sapot has become my go-to browser for everything. It does not feel like a compromise and the gesture controls are both creative and intuitive. -
Keeweb
It works. That is already fantastic. It works very well and has given me no problems at all for the months that I have used it. Password managers are an essential tool for UT and this app made my life a tonne easier.
Community favourite developer
-
Kugi Eusebio
I use several of Kugi's apps. They have a coherent feel to them which is really nice to see and they have made my UT experience functional. -

@RJDan Yes, Indeed!
And let's not forget those developers who work behind the scenes every day for Ubuntu Touch, notably TheKit, Marius, Mike Gabriel and Maciek, in addition to those mentioned above.I would also like to mention Moem for her energy and enthusiasm in flying the flag for UBports at every Open Source event in the Netherlands and beyond. App-Lee, who hosts most of the Q&As and has been instrumental in establishing partnerships with our friends at Volla and Brax (right?)
Also all the members of the foundation's board of trustees, without whom UBports would not exist.
And so many others that I am forgetting or simply do not know, whether they are application developers or part of the porting team...Hats off to you all!
-
@stanwood lets buy one huge pizza to them all!!!!

-
I'm nominating Podcat and RockWork! These two apps contribute hugely to my enjoyment of UT.
Which means of course that I nominate the devs Joan CiberSheep for their wonderful work on bringing the fun back to podcasts in UT, and Muhammad for his tireless and creative ways of bringing Pebble compatibility to UT. And for all of his bluetooth magic!
-
For developers:
- Ratchanan, because so much code for the OS wouldn't exist without him
- Lionel for his work on calendar app, dialer and messages
For apps:
- Teleports, what would we do without it?
- OpenStore, again we would be nothing witout it
-
This idea has some flaws: there are many good devs and their apps, with these restrictions probably some of them would be undeservedly not mentioned here, and some, despite putting a lot of work in this project, may be not nominated because we don't usually see them where we see other devs.
I would like to nominate the following apps:
- Waydroid because we all know why
- LogViewer since it makes debugging much less painful
Developers, who absolutely deserve mentioning here:
- Danfro
- fredldotme
-
@idonthatevests
Of course it would be great to give awards to everyone but thats not feasible ... so lets give to someone. There is always next year too. -
@RJDan Just to be clear, because so many people nominate developers, that were already nominated. This here is for nominating and not for voting?
-
@johndoe
Yes, nominations. Voting happens later. -
@uxes said in [Call for] Nominations for the UBports Community Awards:
lduboeuf - for all the time he spent with me debugging bugs in the SMS and Calendar apps
Maybe you would like to nominate one of the other developers (that is not already nominated) you mentioned, because lduboeuf was already nominated.
-
Because Lionel has already been nominated, and I now understand that its not voting, but nominating ;-), instead of Lionel I nominate Jonathan Zeidler for providing OSMscout server and PureMaps.
