    • [videotutorial] First Steps with Clickable

Hello. UbunCon Sintra 2019 just posted my first talk at the UbuCon (and my first talk ever).

If you want to get started with clickable and you don't know how, you might find this videotutorial interesting or useful.

Have fun, thanks for the fish and sorry for the inner jokes.

PS: You can post your questions in this thread if you need me to clarify something

Marius answered to «Why is called Morph»:

Since it "Morphs" into different shapes (convergence) and fits all screens

    • RE: Few thoughts regarding coming back after several years

@ktatar156 Interesting. You may arrive at some break point in time with Google things and focused on moving to Focal (which is a tonne of work). Then it will come the rest.

      • Mail: You could use Dekko. It works perfectly with all standard email accounts. Gmail is being worked on (again).
      • Contacts: Work is being done and there are workarounds, export and import the agendas.
      • GPS works in UT. Android apps are an additional non-UT feature I would say.
      • Firefox: it is difficult to port by the way is designed (I believe), I know you said you can't code but you could try finding a group of coder instead. I know is difficult but that's how some other random projects got developed (waydroid is an example)
      • Webapps: people insist in making those even if discouraged. You can filter the apps by native if you like.
      • Outdated apps: well, that has a more difficult solution. Some things you could try is poking the developers, ask for ownership, create a developing group...

But I would say it is not fair going away, come back and expect someone else did the work you request.

    • QML Templates and Tools

      List of Useful Code

I thought it would be useful to do a list of little templates, tools and maybe tricks to common problems we face when developing.

      Templates

      • About QML Template
      • Button to Hide/Show Header
      • Download Dialogue with Progress Bar
      • Import Hub example. Click on the button to import a file and see in the logs the mimeType, url, etc

      Tools

      • Download Interceptor (download files that cannot be handled by the download manager
      • Blob Saver (be able to download blob url)

      Thanks @bhdouglass

We have finished a first draft for a Human Interface Guidelines wiki

It is basically most of the information we have been using until today.
Merge requests and comments are welcome

@Flohack Do you need a rounded corners version for something? If you use the sqared svg UT takes care of the corners 😄

      Random thoughts:

I've been using only UT for the last four years. No turning back for me. I have very good experience with my E5.
I've bought a PinePhone to support the project and to have a possible replacement for my beloved grandpa E5 in a future.

    • RE: Linphone App Now In OpenStore

      Hello!
Thanks for the hype, notification and questions.
      @domubpkm:

      • the Linphone app currently diesn't support encryption. It's planned for next releases. Supposedly is possible with the code but all the help is welcomed.
      • About privacy, here you have the legal aspects of Linphone service. Notice that when stted «contact list on your phone» and similars, they are talking about iOS and Android Linphone apps.
Linphone for UT uses the command line Linphone, called linphonec and the daemon linphonecsh and you can see here the modification Brian did to it and the qml code used in the app.
      • Here you can check how SIP should work as a protocol.
      • And to change the email parameter for a Linphone account, you have to do it (for now) at their website or creating a «new account» in the app and checking the bottom section (witch is actually the same website).

    • RE: As a n00b here, how do I not be a dick?

      Welcome!

We have only some rules here: try not to offtopic, be respectful and use a family friendly language 😉

About on how to post issues it depends on where are they (at the beginning is quite confusing to know which part is responsible, so ask :)) some guidelines though:

      • Issue with a core app? Here: https://gitlab.com/ubports/apps/
      • Issue with other apps? Check on the info of the app in OpenStore app or its website
      • Issue with the system itself? If you don't know what part of the system is you can use the general github repository

I think you have some info there to start digging in 🙂

    • Clock App Survey

I'm interested to know the use we do of the clock app as it will be useful for a small redesign 🙂

      a) I open the Clock App when I want to: _____________
      b) I normally open the Clock App from: ______________
      c) I think Clock App misses: _______________________

Rate the following aspects between 0-4, being
      0 I don't know what's that,
1 never, once or for testing,
      2 some times,
      3 quite often and
      4 always:

      d) Clock (the time)
      e) World Clock (more than 1 city clock)
      f) Alarm (wake me up)
      g) Chronometer (timer with laps)
      h) Timer (count down)

      i) I have been using Ubuntu touch as my main device since: _______ (or never if it's not your main drive)

@fla maybe a good alternative to the Telegram groups could be the forum, it's divided in subjects and is available openly, and already set up.

      Thanks for the kind words.

I talked with Szymon and he was very kind to pass me the helm. I'm lucky to have a very nice code as a base, so probably can update it with little effort 😄 or at least I hope so.

Pass by the gitlab to file bugs and add code 🙂 or anything

    • Clock Redesign Ideas

      Let's dance:

Let's redesign the Clock. Send your sketches. Have in mind that it has to be Ubuntu Touch. Keep in the Suru guidelines and remember that is has to rotate (so portrait and landscape) and adapt to small and big screens. Some ideas collected from the survey:

[...] we are giving a prominent space to World Clocks and Clock, which are thins that few people uses (specially clock if it's visible on the indicators)
      I'm thinking that:

      • Could it be possible to join timers and chronometer in one Section and add a Sections for Alarms? So that could be: Alarms | Clock | ChronoTimer?
      • Do we keep Sections as they are but swap World Clocks and Alarms? So they are visible when opening the app? And put the World Clocks in the BottomEdge?
      • We make the clock smaller to squeeze the world clocks there? We get rid of the clock And split the Selection between a list of alarms and a list of world clocks?

@spctrl Hello. I'm afraid there is little to do here.

      • Leave it on 16.04 and play games with it, or read, or listen to podcasts.
      • Port or hire someone to develop and port the kernel (see some links https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6790/device-tree-list)
      • Kiss and say good by, embrace newer devices. We have all gone through this one day or another

I know, it's sad but we must be grateful for all these years of happiness 🙂
