@TheVancedGamer said in Can you improve an app? And would you like a Pebble smartwatch?:

Do keep in mind that the rockwork daemon actually connects to the watch, not the bluetooth stack. So you will have to launch rockwork first for the watch to be able to connect.

      IT WORKS !!!!!!!!! 👍

      Thank you !

      @Moem
I want to be able ton connect my Pebbles again with Focal. I have used them for years with Xenial and switched to Focal last week. It is now impossible to have the bluetooth connexion stable enough to launch RockWork as you described in june.

I thought that @TheVancedGamer had found a solution but it seems that I have read too fast.

      Hi,

@mardy does not seem to connect to this forum anymore.

Does anyone has any news about the new address book app and CardDav support ? It was almost there in Xenial OTA 24 before its removal.

CardDav synchronisation would be a great feature with Focal !

      Hi @TheVancedGamer ,

Many thanks for your efforts !!!!

Do you know when your work could be merged in an OTA ? I really want my four (yes, four..) Pebble Time Steel back !

    • RE: WayDroid installation fails

      Hi,

Same problem here with a OnePlus 5 running the OTA23. I tried Waydroid helper three times (a few minutes for each try) and the command line method (almost two hours). I had previously forbidden the automatic turning off of the screen and did not touch the phone during installation. I still have that little blue turning wheel.

    • RE: Could someone turn the (Hue) lights on again ?

I would like to thank @lduboeuf who took time to recompile Shine for both armhf and arm64. The source code is still on github. The app should be back on the openstore soon but you can find it on the french telegram group :

      • Shine for armhf

      • Shine for arm64

Now a small tutorial to set up Shine :

      • Install Shine,
      • Open it and you get a message asking you to press the central button of the Hue bridge and then click on "connect..." in the app,
      • Press the central button of the bridge,
      • Click "connect..." in the app,
        And... you're done ! :1st_place_medal:

You can now see your bridge(s), your plugs and lights and use them. You can define groups, scenes or timers. I have not tested everything because I still have very few device.

As a conclusion, I would like to precise that Hue/Zigbee is a quite simple lighting system. It is not as complete as a Jeedom/Domoticz/Nymea/HomeAssistant/etc system but it requires nothing more that a cheap bridge and compatible Lidl/Philips/Ikea lighting hardware.

    • RE: Could someone turn the (Hue) lights on again ?

      @keneda
I know that Nymea is clearly more powerful than Hue but I use a laptop, rent my appartment and already own the Hue/Zigbee stuff.

I am pretty sure that "Shine" needed a huge amount of time to be created. It would be great if someone could port it to Xenial.

    • RE: Could someone turn the (Hue) lights on again ?

@libremax If I understand correctly, Nymea needs to be installed on a dedicated server (Raspsberry Pi being the best option) with a dedicated bridge to drive my Lidl/Zigbee devices.

That is too much money and work while you can get an obsolete second hand v1 Hue bridge for 5€.

    • RE: CardDav (contacts) support

      Hi everyone,

@mardy wrote in last september on Github that CardDav support could be available in OTA21. As we now all use OTA22, I guess that we are getting closer :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Good news is that the solution seems almost ready.

@mardy : Could you make any progress since that last message ?

    • Could someone turn the (Hue) lights on again ?

      Hello everyone,

I am looking for an app that would control a Philips v1 Hue bridge (it is compatible with Lidl connected bulbs and plugs !). There are two on the openstore :

      • Radiate : Does not seem to work. I get a "Error : Couldn't find a bridge" message on my N5.
      • Shine : No longer available as it was compiled with 15.04 SDK and never rebased.

Shine seems to be a great app and it is a pity that it was never ported to Xenial. Only 9 apps out of 23 developped by Michael Zanetti are still available on the store. This problem was raised a few years ago now.

There is a tutorial on this forum to port apps but this is WAY beyond my skills.

Does anyone feel able to find a solution ?

    • RE: How to sync passwords with Ubuntu Touch and Firefox

      Hi,

My solution is quite close to yours. Here are the differences :

1/ I have a webdav server on a Synology NAS. I had quite a few issues with CORS. Here is the solution.

2/ My Firefox extension is Keeweb Connect which works great. You just have to open a tab with keeweb to make that extension work.

3/ My kdbx database is synchronised with my phones through Syncthing. Doing so allows me to have my passwords anytime anywhere even if I lose my internet connection or my NAS.

Why do you say that it is not risk free? I have a secured connection with a Let's Encrypt certificate. To me it is safer than a Post-It under the keyboard 😉 Keepass is certainly the most convenient and safe password solution available.

    • RE: UBports foundation and tax reduction in the EU

      For France :

      • Ɠuvres ou organismes d'intĂ©rĂȘt gĂ©nĂ©ral prĂ©sentant un caractĂšre philanthropique, Ă©ducatif, scientifique, social, humanitaire, sportif, familial, culturel ou concourant Ă  la valorisation du patrimoine ou Ă  la dĂ©fense de l'environnement ;
      • associations ou fondations reconnues d'utilitĂ© publique ;
      • associations cultuelles ou de bienfaisance autorisĂ©es Ă  recevoir des dons et legs.

    • UBports foundation and tax reduction in the EU

      Hello everybody,

Florian and Alfred reminded us in Q&A106 that donations to the UBports foundation were partly tax deductible for European citizens.

I propose that a member from each country of the EU tells his fellow citizens how to get this tax reduction.

Since we will have to quote official texts and for a better comprehension, everyone will answer in his own language.

      Thank you

    • RE: No video with slimport in convergence test

      I made a few more tests :

      • changed the SIM card for a different operator => instability as soon as I activate 4G (LTE)
      • changed the phone for another Nexus 5 with a brand new battery (replaced this week) => same result
      • changed the power supply for a bigger one (5A) => same result

So in my case, the problem is independant of :

      • the phone,
      • the Slimport hdmi adapter,
      • the power supply,
      • the power cables,
      • the cell phone operator,
      • the monitor.

I just have to switch on/off 4G data to see the issue appear/disappear. If I am connected to a wifi network, the problem disappears as data is handled through wifi.

    • RE: No video with slimport in convergence test

      Hi,

I am answering this old post because people here faced the same issue that I am facing today.

      • I bought a chinese slimport adapter and tried it with a Nexus 7 tablet => ok
      • I tried the same adapter with my Nexus 5 at work => display errors, convergence was unusable
      • I bought a good quality adapter => same results
      • I tried both adapters with my Nexus 5 at home => ok, convergence fully usable

So what works at home does not at work. The screen, the phone, the adapters, the power supply are the same. The ONLY difference is the network : wifi at home, 4G at work.

I decided to switch off 4G => convergence is now fully usable. If I turn it on again, the crashes come back immediately. Cellular data seem to be ok until 3G.

When I use an external display AND a bluetooth keyboard AND a bluetooth mouse AND 3G, the battery can not charge anymore. I drain more power than I can bring to the phone. So I wonder if the crashes in 4G are caused by the power consumption.

Could anyone perform the same tests and confirm that external display instability is highly linked to the use of cellular data in 4G ?

      Thank you.
