@cliffcoggin yes, I will some day try it another time, maybe when I own another phone, again on the Fairphone 3 or another Ubuntu compatible one, have now installed IODÉ, looks great, is open source android and scans bad Google stuff

why I swap back to Android:

• I still missing the fingerprint sensor, It's nice to have on some apps or for unlock your phone.
  O.K., also on Android you often have the problem that the print sensor doesnt accept your dirty
  hands, but still missing it

• Had many issues with the cam app, often could not shot a photo when I was in the very need of it,
  was not able to save the photo, the ring turned around in the upper corner or I sometimes
  had a right problem with the cam and had to restart the whole phone

• Often had a restart of unity, when I was in the use of the phone, I was swipping with the finger
  the screen freezes and unity restarted, that was a mess, so also Waydroid was shut down

• Had problems with the podbird or podphoenix app, when I was switching from phone port to usb audio
  and backwards, the app volume went lower by every switch between bluetooth and headset

• had ofter problems with the network settings, sometimes Wifi-Network was not available or did not
  shown up

• I still can't use copy/paste in waydroid, no workaround was a solution for me

• after a some time I was not able to use Whatsapp in Waydroid anymore, because Whatsapp
  tolt me, that I'm using a custom rom, and Whatsapp wasn't anymore able to be installable on
  the Waydroid Android, so I had to use a second phone(Android) over the Hospot, puuhhhh...
  using the whats-app-web app was no solution for me

• many of my problems have not been resolved after this 5 month of usage

so maybe I will come back, will buy another test phone or will use my Fairphone 3 again, when I turn to the next phone, which will be in the next years...so long, bye bye

btw.: Ubtouch is no bad thing, but is still for experimental

@luksus hm... I have deinstalled and reinstalled the cam app, now it maybe works, haven't had this error since I've reinstalled the app some days ago...maybe it is solved...thanks

I have used the Development Channel of the UbuntuTouch,
after having terrible issues with the cam app I switched again back to stable, but have still these issues...

Now I'm running Version 4,
before that Version 663, 692, 700, 706, 708

Now I have this issue with the cam, that when I shot sometimes two pictures on and on, the cam stucks and the rolling circle appears in the upper left corner, maybe I have to wait some minutes, but then I will shut down the cam.

When I start the cam again the system tells me that the cam app has no rights, but in the rights it is activated, I have to restart the phone to use the cam again(sometimes this also did not work),
restarting Unity doesn't work...

Reinstalling the app will also now work, same issues, I also have the feeling that the cam app also don't like it, when I turn the phone from vertical to horizontal ... when I shot a photo, the cam app freezes again, and rights will again disappear...

that stinks, really, when you try to shot a good photo...

does someone also had that issue?

@gandalf ...I think the main problem is, that it doesn't work under ubports, some program issues. Any solution for a decrypt software, I can't find some in the app store?

@Keneda / @Ian an , yes I already found this out, but a greater choice, would maybe a longer press, so that the screen stays black and just the flashlight lights, second longer press will shut off Flashlight, had this on Android. On my Honor 8 a longer or two short presses on the fingerprint sensor started the flashlight.
I don't want to watch at the phone, just press and turn on, that would be perfect.

Hi I have used ubports Ubuntu now for near a week,
I have now collected some issues using my new system.

First, it's great to use a real Linux on a smartphone,
a big thank you to all the people who are and where involved in the
creation of this, it now works far better than the first
Android system I've installed once apon a time on my Nokia N900
I don't know where to post this but maybe there are some
solutions from other users, could you please help me?

Bugs:

WAYDROID issues:

• copy past problem in Waydroid(copy past not supported?)----> hope the fix will work (reinstall)

• some apps crash waydroid and ubuntu system, ubuntu restarts

  • discogs
  • castbox ----> (maybe using now podbird(found it today!) from the ubports app store instead)

• WhatsApp issues

  • phone rings/vibrates but will not wake up/turn on screen
    you have to enter pin or pass phrase, then go into WhatsApp Waydroid, then you can answer, somethimes you're to late
  • when use phone on whatsapp, I only able to use loudspeaker not the little for the ear,
    so I use external headphones, not the best fix, but headphones work.

• somethimes waydroid crashes completely you have to restart the phone

• no WIFI or Bluetooth support(yet?!?)

  • connection to Bluetooth watches
  • connection to kodi via remote

• sometimes I have problems with switch from wlan to mobile, when using a internet radio station

• rotation of screen, only rotates on one half of the screen, so half of the rotated screen is blank(black)

UBUNTU issues

• some apps ovverride the main volume of the phone, so if you have muted the phone, some apps still loud
  you have to toggle volume in the app, and when you have raised the main volume, you still hear nothing,
  so you also have to toggle the volume in the app, the not synced

  • Radio
  • Videoplayer

• phone screen not really shut down when using telephone,
  screen flashes always off and on, will not dim until end of conversation

• once, I wanted to enter my pin, then I've entered the wrong pin, have shaked my phone
  an the screen rotated, after this I wasn't able to enter anything, just stuck at the first letter,
  had to restart the phone

• fingerprint reader still not available for Fairphone 3+(maybe in future??)

• sometimes I have problems with switch from wlan to mobile, when using a internet radio station

• I've installed truecrypt(need a program to decrypt containers) after
  sudo mount -o rw,remount /
  but it doesn't work on ubport ?!

Otherwise the phone works really nice,
for a still in progress system,
battery duration is good, could use it as a daily driver,
I also like this flip menues,
but other desktops like Gnome or KDE or E17 would also be great
but maybe I must reinstall Android, cause there are too much issues for me,
described in the upper text, which makes live not easy,
when you have to use your phone very quickly,
so some things need time, and somethimes you have no time...

or... I maybe use my old Honor 8 for Android and the Fairphone 3+ for Ubuntu

Other ideas, maybe for the creators:

User defined short cuts for the power button, when in sleep mode,
maybe 'open camera' or 'flashlight', very useful, have usaed it with my old Honor 8 and also the Fairphone 3,
it's nice to have a quick flash light accesss, without free phone with pin.

......my clipboard is also dead, using a Fairphone 3+, I have installed ubport and after that via the installer waydroid, why is the "Google" button in the upper right corner of the installer,
(does it start initiation with waydroit init -s GAPPS after installation????) when it doesn't work, I would have been better I havent pressed it, don't know what's now, maybe this is the issue, why the clipboard doesn't work?

So what do I have to do now? Reinstall Ubuntu and Waydroid without GAPPS ???

Is the issue also present when you don't install the non Google version?

I had seen a fix via adb(https://webplover.com/blog/android-10-clipboard-solution/), but I can't find andy phone with

adb devices

in the terminal of UBports...

any solutions without reeinstalling the whole system?

@lakotaubp many thanks, that worked for me ... great .. have now installed the microG, workes great, I think maybe better than on /e/...

I also had to wipe the whole data, without was maybe not enough, because I think that Anbox has to be completely deleted on the phone, without wiping my whole data Anbox was still on the phone, and I still wasn't able to start Waydroid....

After starting a completely new installation I was able to start the Waydroid after using the Waydroid installer from the AppStore...

... now I must try to install something which cooperates with google, maybe Gmicro(Or, what was the name using in /e/ ???)
because my banking software needs connection to google

and Waydroid doesn't cooperate with WIFI or Bluetooth, right ?

now I have another problem, maybe I have to reinstall ubports again, maybe I have killed it, because I wanted to install an Android emulation but insted of installing Waydroid I've installed Anbox, wich seems to me very outdated right?

apt update
apt upgrade

it's now not possible for me to remove anbox,

I have instead used an other computer with an older distro,
using the *.deb package on it.
On this one here I've used the snap package.

The computer with the *.deb package found the phone directly and installed all packages with response in the installer and in the terminal, now I have Ubuntu on my phone.

yes, that was it...(I hope it, when I write this line, because I am installing now your STOCK ROM, from the link in the installer)
It was my fault, yes, I haven't read on, because the instructions are so clear you just have to read the whole text, not just some of the first lines,

mistake 1 : I had installed /e/ os an in the instructions is written that it will not work under /e/
mistake 2 : I have first installed the actual STOCK ROM which is Android 11, so this also won't work
mistake 3 : then I have installed an older STOCK ROM Android 9 won't also work...

and now ..... after finishing install under debian with

chmod a+x FP3_flashall
./FP3_flashall

hm....how long do I have to wait ???
do I have to activate via fastboot, or without.... both doesn't work,
always hangs in this loop
