I just learned (from Maciek at the OpenStore telegram group) that the app still needs to be modified, OpenStore won't accept a click file for 16.04 because it targets a different system version, even if you can install it manually.
He pointed me to the UT App Dev telegram group and advised me to make my own modified version.
Unfortunately, I really don't have the time.
If anyone who reads this has time to make and publish a version for 20.04 on OpenStore?

@khurshid-alam What I do is modify the file for your already known connection and add this sample line

    [ipv4] address1=192.168.1.10/24,192.168.1.1

Is it only me or do other OP5 users also have problems with some video steams?

I tried both to update from 16.04 to 20.04 and then I also did a fresh install. With stable channel almost all of video streams that I've tried are not working, but after I switched from stable to development channel for example youtube started working. But still for example this Finnish news channel doesnt work https://areena.yle.fi/tv/suorat it playes the videos and live streams for about 3seconds and then the picture freezes.

Probably when we have a really stable and efficient focal OTA, we will see a little more clearly on smartphones. It's too early at this point. As it stands, I think you can only bet on the Volla (due to a partnership) and the Fairephone 4 (maybe a partnership but not sure).

@WQ6Z8X4U said in Cron not installed?:

Here's a frightening thought: Are there any situations where fiddling around with unsupported stuff might brick the phone so badly that you can't even re-install from scratch? oO

Hard bricking the device, I think would be difficult, but causing malfunctions that aren't simply rectified by a reinstall, yes, I suppose that is possible. But it would sooner be the case from messing with the devices partitions or deleting the wrong files, rather than from installing random packages.

@pparent76 Well, sorry about your fingerprint reader, but glad you narrowed it down.
Is your phone still under warranty? Maybe you could get it serviced?

    @gandalf said in backups?:

    Hi all

Simple question spoilered by the title: What's the current state for backups on Focal? Are there any backup utilities available, and if not, what parts need to be backed up besides the obvious docs/pictures/etc folders?

    cheers

@fredldotme is working on it 🙂

    Re: 20.04 Pixel 3A

Hello everybody, I'm new here and have just installed 20.04 stable in a pixel 3a.
I dont know if this is the correct place (please let me know if it isnt), but I would like to share a problem I'm facing.
I'm trying to install the Document viewer from UBPorts but I cant get it done.
At some point it stops the download and shows the Install button again. I dont know if this may be related with the size (~500 Mb), I have install other apps with no issue.

Another issues I had that seem to have been solved after a wile are:

Not able to find a mobile hotspot crated with another phone > solved after reboot. In the top dropdown menu, in the System tab, all the options except for Lock and Shut Down did nothing > solved after some time No push notifications on TELEports > solved after reboot.

Another thing I found "weird" is the ability to get the left menu out when the phone is locked, but this is more a desing thing than a bug.

I will go on with more testing, but so far I really like it 😃

Better to check if that issues persist on devel.
i had the issue with Document viewer, but it get fixed the next try iirc. For others issues you found i don't have this on devel

@YummyRam Yew, that is correct. I had forgotten that bit of info. Although I would not say it works, rather that it is detected.

@WQ6Z8X4U said in Possible to install UT 20 over UT 16 on Google Pixel 3a XL using UBports Installer without first flashing Android back onto the phone?:

Thank you for this info, but it actually resurrects an old question of mine from a long time ago: When I install UT, do I need to be concerned that there is some vestige of Android left on the phone that might spy on me, i.e. does UT somehow run on top of Android? The answer I received back then was "no",

Here is another piece of this puzzle:

I was just now trying to enable SSH using the instructions for UT 16, but when I typed the command

    sudo android-gadget-service enable ssh

I got the following error message

    sudo: android-gadget-service: command not found

This error message was previously discussed in this thread, where one person said:

@kugiigi said in [Pinephone] android-gadget-service: command not found:

That guide is for the android-based UT devices which the pinephone isn't. You should use the normal SSH commands you use in linux desktop.

Also, in this thread, I read that you can use the following commands to start and enable SSH

$sudo service ssh start $sudo systemctl enable ssh

I tried this and it works perfectly. I can now log in remotely using PuTTY after reboot without manually starting SSH service.

Does this mean that UT 20 has eliminated the need for "residual elements" of Android that UT 16 still relied on?

BTW, in my view this is a huge step forward, like everything else I have seen so far in UT 20. I mean, UT 16 was already fantastic, but it just keeps getting better. This means I don't need to remember different bash commands for Ubuntu and UT.
