@hlbkv gnome software can handle debs and flatpaks (and on Ubuntu also snaps I think). The app itself is a deb, so it is not surprising that it can be installed. The apps that end up being able to be installed with it are probably also debs.

Just an update, I gave up on trying the KDEConnect workaround. I did some deep investigation on resolving the issue within Waydroid itself, and documented my progress. It's definitely a feature-request in Waydroid. https://github.com/waydroid/waydroid/issues/211 I haven't done any more work on it for a while, since my last post on github. There are a few libs being used in Waydroid, which I linked to, which have sparse documentation. I don't have deep enough knowledge of these languages and platforms to be able to fix this easily - not to mention android's workflow for builds. Wasn't able to do a build of LineageOS on my PC; some incompatibility with package versions. It'd be nice to resolve this for everybody who uses Waydroid, but IRL is taking priority for now.

@lakotaubp Thank you so much! That was the "get out of jail free card" tip that allowed me to make it work. NOTE: for anybody following. First set up your Gmail account in Settings. Then click the > arrow and that gives you two slider buttons which allows you to sync either/or or both the Contacts and the Calender.

Yes, I also thought it might be device-specific since the Volla Phone 22 is still relatively new. I opted for a re-installation (which is a quick and simple thing via the boot manager) and now the problem is gone -- I hope for good.

@mrt10001 Well, that was my first thought too : I had already attempted to rebuild a clean install from the UT installer when I discovered, and it failed. After reading your message, I decided to go for it one more time. And, for whatever reason, it's working. Nexus is back and in its greatest shape (OTA 24). Thank you for your help!

Thank you guys! I tried again a new password and now it has been working for two days. So apparently the special characters were indeed the problem. Very strange. Works with both host names.

@lunameadows you can use "2g only" mode for T-Mobile and T-Mobile MVNOs in the USA for a fully functional phone (calls, sms / mms, data): https://forums.ubports.com/topic/8338

@myrcy we have been working in the "North America Carrier Issues" Telegram group and have determined the best (well, only) way to have full service (calls in / out, mms in / out, mobile data) until UT supports VoLTE is to use 2G mode, which has not been shut down by T-Mobile yet. See https://forums.ubports.com/topic/8338

@777funk I had the trusty Nexus 5. I agree the brightness level can seem "too" bright when using it in pitch black environment. But I doubt the hardware is able to do less. For tinkering with the brightness on the PinePhone I can tell that Ubuntu Touch gives what it can get from the drivers. So, sorry but I doubt you can have less light expect using a dark theme. Even more so the Nexus 5 has a LCD display, not an OLED one, so backlight is on for the full screen.

@kugiigi said in Accessing UT system files/folders via PC USB port?: SSH is the best way for transferring files from/to UT and it's so much more. So if anyone's willing to set it up, I highly suggest it That's the route I went with it. Works.

@777funk said in Linphone Problems: @777funk said in Linphone Problems: @nwl said in Linphone Problems: Dear community, I am using Linphone on Ubuntu touch. It will only call out if i have a contact saved first and it only allows 3 contacts to be saved. I feel like I am missing something huge. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks:) That's all it has for now. Too bad it wasn't just a little more featured (reading from phone contacts, adding (automatically) the @<voip.server info> after a phone number is entered. Also, I do not get incoming rings. But it is a start I suppose! We do have to thank those who invested their time in the project so far. (EDIT: was a problem with a Voip.ms setting. Now rings if phone is open, but not on sleep.) Update. UT Tweak Tool can set Linphone to stay awake. This rings on sleep or even bootup.

@applee said in choosing a program to open files? ala, right click "open with"??: And regarding your additional question: There are a couple of text editors in the open store if my memory serves me well. Yes there is Tedit for simple usage, or Seabass 2 for lot more than just editing text files.

@droidfilesystem said in Enable keyboard predictions system wide: most particularly in the browser Not anymore, sadly. Only in messaging app and similar. That was enabled before on browser too, but was deactivated because, as i understood, there were issues with it. Personnally i never had issues with it when working, and enjoyed it pretty much, i miss this since it's gone I hope some day it will be reactivated... @droidfilesystem said in Enable keyboard predictions system wide: Also is there any way to go back to home page or a back button? No there is not any "home" on Ubuntu Touch, only the wallpaper screen when you close all apps. On certain rare phone, most are like mine "legacy" devices where "home" button is active, it opens app drawer. However, there are tow apps on openstore to implement sort of home page, those are "Home" and "Launcher Modular". Test each to make your own opinion
